Dominique Sutton named MVP of 25th day

Dominique Sutton named MVP of the Greek Basket League 25th day for his performance against Kolossos Rodou. This was the second time in this season that Sutton is named MVP of the day, after second day against Apollon Patras. Sutton played almost 37 minutes against Kolossos and had 14 points with 4/4 field goals, 1/2 triples, 3/5 free throws, 4 rebounds, 4 steals, 1 assist and 1 turnover.

Panathinaikos beat Rethymno Aegean for Greek League 25th day

Panathinaikos hosted and beat Rethymno Aegean for Greek Basket League 25th day. Panathinaikos was tired and disappointed by its elimination from Euroleague final four. Rethmyno Aegean tried and managed to compete the champions for three quarters and Dimitris Diamantidis had to play and play good in order to win the game. Diamantidis came from the bench and had 23 points and 6 assists in 27 minutes. Antonis Fotsis had 12 points and 8 rebounds, Stephane Lasme had 15 points and 4 rebounds. For Rethmyno Aegean Kenny Gabriel made another double double with 16 points and 15 rebounds but had 4/12 field goals and 6 turnovers. Callistus Eziukwu had 8 points,6 rebounds and Fanis Koumpouras had 11 points, 4 assists but also 5 turnovers. Rethymno's captain Avraam Kallinikidis had 4 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist and 1 steal.

Olympiacos beat Nea Kifisia in Kifisia for Greek Basket League 25th day. For Olympiacos Spanoulis, Dunston and Sloukas were not available and Nea Kifisia managed to lead the score in the first quarter and when Olympiacos took the lead the home team didn't allow them to broaden the difference. Good game for Nikos Barlos who had 19 points and 6 rebounds. Michalis Kakiouzis had 8 points and 6 rebounds. Giorgos Bartzokas used all 12 players available but the young Christodoulou and Katsivelis didn't score. Giorgos Printezis had 15 points and 7 rebounds, Mardy Collins had 7 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists, Giorgi Shermandini had 13 points and 5 rebounds.

Nea Kifisia signed Ray Reese

Nea Kifisia entered the play offs and signed Ray Reese to help the team. Reese was playing in Switzerland for Monthey BC in this season. Earlier Reese was playing for Neuchatel and Rethymno Aegean in Greece. Reese started his pro career in NBA-D League with Los Angeles D. and then moved to Mexico for Tepic and Mineros P.

Ikaros Chalkidas hosted and beat Kolossos Rodou for Greek Basket League 25th day. Ikaros Chalkidas wanted the victory in order to have chances to avoid relegation. With that victory Ikaros Chalkidas is in the bottom of the league table with other two teams but Kolossos Rodou lost any chances to enter the play offs. For Ikaros Chalkidas Ivan Aska finished the game with 26 points and 9 rebounds while Dominique Sutton had 14 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 steals and Giannis Gagaloudis had 17 points and 9 assists. Panionios hosted and smashed Apollon Patras for Greek Basket League 25th day. After Easter break Apollon Patras had a bad game with two terrible quarters and Panionios won easily the game. With partial scores 35-15 in the first and 24-6 in the last quarter Panionios didn't face problems against Apollon Patras. Apollon had 2/24 triples while Panionios had 11/21. Jeremiah Wilson made a double double with 12 poitns and 10 rebounds but was the only positive player of Apollon Patras.

Lefteris Bochoridis declared for the 2014 NBA Draft

Lefteris Bochoridis declared for the 2014 NBA Draft as his agent Nick Lotsos reported. Bochoridis is a young and promising Greek player who currently plays for Aris Thessaloniki, a club with great history but also great economic problems. This season Bochoridis has 6.5 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists in average per game. Bochoridis has played with the youth national teams for Greece and has been called to play with the men national team too.

Nea Kifisia signed Brandon Peterson. Peterson will replace Darrius Garrett who was released earlier this month. Peterson is 2.04m high and plays in 5 and 4 positions. Before Nea Kifisia Peterson was playing in Sweden for Jamtland. and graduated from Arkansas state University in 2013.

PAOK beat Aries Trikala in friendly game

PAOK hosted and defeated Aries Trikala in a friendly game that took place in Thessaloniki during Easter break. The game lasted for 50 minutes so that both teams had the chance to try things. PAOK had a 17 points lead (40-23) in first half but the half time finished with equal score, 40-40. In third quarter Aries Trikala took the lead by 40-45 but PAOK balanced the game at 52-52 and then took back the lead and won the game by 83-71. In the fifth extra quarter PAOK used bench players but kept its lead and the final score after 50 minutes was 99-80. 

Aris player Larentzakis being evicted

The club of Aris Thessaloniki is in a terrible economical situation. The club was not allowed to make transfers in this season but the problems are getting worse. Giannoulis Larentzakis, a young promising Greek player, has being evicted due to unpaid rents. Larentzakis has moved to Zisis Sarikopoulos's house and will stay with his teammate until the end of the season.

CKSA Moscow beat Panathinaikos for Euroleague Play Offs round 2

CKSA Moscow hosted and defeated Panathinaikos for Euroleague Play Offs round 2. The second victory of CSKA was much easier than the first one. The 51 points that Panathinaikos scored was a record low for the team in Euroleague. Another negative record for Panathinaikos in the Euroleague broke in this game with the 26 points difference that the team lost. For Panathinaikos only Ukić had two digits score while Dimitris Diamantidis didn't score in the game. Sonny Weems scored 23 points and Micov scored 12 points. Victor Khryapa had 11 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 points. CSKA Moscow doubled its victories against Panathinaikos for Euroleague Play Offs.

Real Madrid hosted and beat Olympiacos for Euroleague Play Offs round 2. Real Madrid doubled its victories against Olympiacos for Euroleague Play Offs and is one victory away from eliminating the Euroleague back to back champion. The former player of Olympiacos, Giannis Bourousis, was the best player with a double double, 19 points and 10 rebounds. Rudy Fernadez had 15 points and 6 rebounds. For Olympiacos Vasilis Spanoulis had 18 points and 5 rebounds, Bryant Dunston had 12 points and 9 rebounds and Matt Lojeski had 13 points. Next game in Piraeus Greece where Olympaicos will have to win two games in a row in order to play again in Madrid.

CSKA Moscow hosted and beat Panathinaikos Athens for Euroleague Play Offs round 1. The home team was leading the game in the first half but Panathinaikos balanced the game and took the lead in the last quarter. Panathinaikos couldn't win the game and Diamantidis didn't score in the last offense so the game went to over time. In over time Panathinaikos didn't score again in the last offense and lost a tight game and the chance to break CSKA's advantage.

Real Madrid hosted and beat Olympiacos for Euroleague Play Offs round 1. Real Madrid started better than Olympiacos and took the lead by 27-12 in the first quarter. Olympiacos lowered the difference with its captain and leader Vasilis Spanoulis but could only fight until the score 50-46. Real Madrid won the game by a broad difference and made the first step to qualify in the Final Four. For Real Madrid Rudy Fernadez had 20 points, Sergio Llull had 12 points and the ex-Olympiacos player Giannis Bourousis had 6 points and 7 rebounds. For Olympiacos Vasilis Spanoulis had 18 points but besides him only Giorgos Printezis also finished the game with two digits score.

Nea Kifisia released Darrius Garrett

Nea Kifisia released Darrius Garrett. Nea Kifisia is the surprise team of the Greek Basket League 2013-2014 and Garrett is one of its key players, but the team decided to release the player due to a disciplinary offense. Garrett played 23 games with AENK in the Greek League and had 6.3 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.2 turnovers per game in average.

Olympiacos beat Panathinaikos for Euroleague Top 16

Olympiacos hosted and defeated Panathinaikos for Euroleague Top 16. Both Greek teams had qualified in the next round but the winner would finish third and the loser fourth in the group. Olympiacos started with a 10-3 run but Panathinaikos replied with a 10-0 run and took the lead in score. With better defense Panathinaikos kept the difference in the second quarter that reached 10 points, 19-29, in the 15th minute. Matt Lojeski with four points in a row lowered the difference to six points. Panathinaikos with two goal-fouls created a difference of 11 points but Stratos Perperoglou was the last to score in the first half with a three pointer. Olympiacos was 8 points behind in the first half since the team had many missed three pointers, 3/13, and 2/6 free throws. 7 points for Matt Lojeski and Bryant Dunston  in the first half, while Brent Petway had 5 rebounds. For Panathinaikos Loukas Mavrokefalidis had 10 points in the first half. Diamantidis had 3 assists but no points in the first half and Spanoulis had 2 points, 1 rebound and 1 assist.
In the second half Panathinaikos started with 12 points lead, 29-41, but Olympiacos counter attacked and with a 12-0 run balanced the game, 41-41, in the 27th minute. With a free throw from Bryant Dunston Olympiacos took the lead, 42-41, after a long time but in the next play Dunston made his third foul and Loukas Mavrokefalidis balanced the game 42-42. Olympiacos improved in three pointers but with poor accuracy in the free throws couldn't maintain the lead. Fourth quarter started with a turnover by Spanoulis and a three pointer by Ramel Curry. Dimitris Diamantidis scored his first points with free throws in the 36th minute, giving his team six points lead, 56-62. Olympiacos missed two shots but took the offensive rebounds and with Kostas Sloukas scoring a three pointer lowered the difference to 3 points, 59-62. Dunston and Curry scored and missed one free throw each making the score 60-63. Mantzaris missed a three pointer, Bramos missed a two pointer before Kostas Sloukas equalized the score, 63-63. Diamantidis made his fifth turnover giving Olympiacos the advantage. Vasilis Spanoulis scored and made the score 65-63 just 23 seconds before the end. Loukas Mavrokefalidis with a dunk equalized the score for one more time with 4 seconds remaining. Vasilis Spanoulis scored a three pointer in the end and gave his team 3 points lead and only 0.8 seconds left for Panathinaikos. Panathinaikos made a turnover in the last ball, Sloukas made the steal and Olympiacos won by three points, 68-65.

Taylor Smith named MVP of Greek Basket League 24th day. Smith played 25 minutes in the game against Ilisiakos and had 17 points, 8/8 field goals, 1/6 free throws, collected 14 rebounds and made one steal. His performance was rated with 27 points in the League ranking system.

Olympiacos hosted and defeated KAOD for Greek Basket League 24th day. KAOD beat Olympiacos in the first round game and ruined any thoughts that Olympiacos players had to finish first in the regular season. In this game Olympiacos didn't face problems winning KAOD. The visitors had only 6 assists in the game. For the winners Bryant Dunston, Vangelis Mantzaris and Vasilis Kavvadas had 10 points each. Bryant Dunston also had 9 rebounds. For KAOD J'Covan Brown had 29 points, Lazeric Jones had 19 points and Julian Vaughn had 11 points and 9 rebounds. Nikola Markovic had 11 rebounds but was very poor at scoring with 2 points, 0/7 field goals, 0/4 three pointers and 2/6 free throws.

PAOK lost by Panathinaikos for Greek Basket League 24th day. With that victory Panathinaikos secured the first place in the regular season again after three years. Panathinaikos had only 4/17 three pointers, while PAOK had 10/21 three pointers, but the visitors were impressive in field goals with 30/43. Another highlight is that Panathinaikos finished the game with 10/10 free throws, Lasme and Wright had 4/4 free throws each and Ukic had 2/2. PAOK could only follow Panathinaikos in the first half. For the home team Giorgos Bogris was the top scorer and player with 14 points and 5 rebounds. DJ Cooper had 9 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Besides Bogris the other two players of PAOK with two digits score were Greek, Michalis Tsairelis and Vangelis Margaritis. In a very tight game the maximum difference reached 7 points and Panionios won by only three points but with this victory secured the third position in the regular season. Apollon Patras hosted and beat Nea Kifisia for Greek Basket League 24th day. Nea Kifisia was leading the score in the first half but Apollon Patras with good defense in the third quarter took the lead and won the game. With that victory Apollon Patras secured a place in the play offs. Apollon had only 3/17 three pointers but also made only 10 turnovers. Andreja Milutinović with 14 points were the top scorer for the winners. Jeremiah Wilson collected 12 rebounds and scored 8 points, while Roland Ross had 13 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Anadolu Efes lost by Olympiacos for Euroleague Top 16

Anadolu Efes hosted Olympiacos for Euroleague Top 16. Olympiacos had already qualified for the semifinals before the game but didn't want to lose it. Olympiacos had more rebounds, more assists and less turnovers in the first half. Anadolu Efes counter attacked in the third quarter and lowered the difference to two points, 48-50, but Olympiacos handled the game and kept the lead. The home team couldn't made another counter attack in the last quarter and Olympiacos won by 5 points. Both teams were good at three pointers, 10/25 for the home team and 9/20 for Olympiacos. For Anadolu Efes the Greek Kostas Vasileiadis and the ex Olympiacos player Jamon Gordon were the top scorers with 16 points each. For Olympiacos the captain Vasilis Spanoulis had 17 points, 4 assists and Bryant Dunston had 13 points and 7 rebounds.

Panathinaikos beat Unicaja Malaga for Euroleague Top 16

Panathinaikos hosted and defeated Unicaja Malaga in Athens for Euroleague Top 16. It was a do or die game with the Greens needing the victory to qualify to the next round. Unicaja Malaga took an early lead in score but Panathinaikos made a 5-0 and a 7-0 run, so the first quarter finished with the home team ahead by 7, 17-12. Second quarter was balanced with Malaga lowering the difference to 5 points by the end of the first half. Both teams were bad in three pointers in the first half, 2/10 for Panathinaikos and 2/13 for Malaga. The strong point for Malaga was the offensive rebounds, having 12 in the first half while Panathinaikos had 15 in total. Unicaja Malaga counter attacked in the third quarter and equalized the score in 24th minute, 37-37, but Panathinaikos replied with a 10-0 run and made the score 47-37. Third quarter finished with a three pointer by Loukas Mavrokefalidis that made the score 55-41. In the last quarter Panathinaikos created a difference of 17 points but Malaga with a run lowered the difference to 9 points since the home team was playing with the mind in clock. Panathinaikos won Unicaja Malaga by 69-60 and qualified to the semi-finals of Euroleague. Panathinaikos improved in three pointers and rebounds in the second half, while Malaga finished the game with 3/20 three pointers. For Panathinaikos 11 players scored, all except Giankovits, and Dimitris Diamantidis was the top scorer with 13 points.

April fools news: Errick McCollum returns to Apollon Patras

Local newspaper of Patras, Peloponnisos, reported that Errick McCollum will leave Panionios due to economic problems and return to Apollon Patras. The article "reports" that McCollum won't play in the remaining games of the regular season, but will be available for the play offs. Nice one, since Panionios will finish third in the regular season while Apollon Patras will fight to enter the play offs. Besides teams' positions, McCollum had an impressive season and if the American leaves Panionios many Greek and foreign teams will try to sign him.

Stephane Lasme named MVP of Greek League 23rd day

Stephane Lasme named MVP of Greek League 23rd day. Lasme had 18 points, 9/13 field goals, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 steal and 1 block in 24 minutes against Kolossos Rodou. This is the second day that a player of Panathinaikos is named MVP after 16th day and James Gist.
