Panathinaikos signed Ioannis Papapetrou


Panathinaikos signed Ioannis Papapetrou. The 24-year-old Greek forward penned a three-year contract with the Greek champions. In 2012, Papapetrou joined the Texas Longhorns men's basketball team of the University of Texas, and one year later he started his professional career with Olympiacos. Papapetrou played five seasons with Olympiacos. In his last season, he averaged 8.9 points and 4.5 assists for the domestic league and 6.8 points and 3.6 rebounds for the Euroleague. Papapetrou was a member of all Greek junior national teams and he is a member of the senior Greek national basketball team.

Olympiacos beat Cedevita like in the first round game, even without Spanoulis, Printezis nor Young. Papapetrou grabbed the chance and had a great performance.

Basket League Greece 2013-14 best young player: Aleksandar Vezenkov

Aleksandar Vezenkov named best young player of the Basket League Greece for second year in a row. For second year in a row two players of Aris, Vezenkov and Bochoridis made it to the best three young players of the league. Vezenkov was named best rookie of the season 2012-2013. Bochoridis was second best young player of the previous season and third best young player of this season.

Olympiacos withdrew its players from the Greek national teams

Olympiacos withdrew its players from the Greek national teams. Olympiacos has announced that the team will not allow its players to join the Greek nationals teams, all U17, U18, U20, and men national team, if the players don't get a full insurance. Giannis Papapetrou, Dimitris Agravanis and Andreas Christodoulou didn't not appear in the first practice of Greece U20 national team that will participate in European U20 Championship in Crete.

Aries Trikala lost by Olympiacos for Greek League 23rd day

Aries Trikala lost by Olympiacos for Greek Basket League 23rd day. Olympiacos had 26 assists in this game and 11/23 three pointers, which gave no hopes to the home team. Aries Triakala only managed to lower the difference to 14 points with a good last quarter. For Aries Trikala Chris Evans had 17 points, Stefan Perunicic 12 points and Christos Deligiannis 14 points. For Olympiacos Brent Petway was the top scorer with 21 points, Giannis Papapetrou had 12 points and Mat Lojeski 10 points. Kostas Sloukas had 9 points, 8 assists and 4 steals.

Olympiacos beat Panelefsiniakos for Greek League 22nd day

Olympiacos hosted and beat Panelefsiniakos for Greek Basket League 22nd day. Olympiacos played without Vasilis Spanoulis, Giorgos Printezis and Stratos Peperoglou. Panelefsiniakos was following the score for more than a quarter but the half time finished with 8 points difference. In the second half the difference was broadening and reached 30 points in the end. The young Giannis Papapetrou was the top scorer of Olympiacos and the highlight of the game. Olympiacos had 30/37 free throws but only 4/17 three pointers. Panelefsiniakos made 22 turnovers. For Panelefsiniakos Kyles had 14 points and 4 rebounds, Nikou had 2 points and 7 assists, Mouhammad Faye had 14 points and 5 rebounds. For Olympiacos Bryant Dunston had 13 points and 5 rebounds, Giannis Papapetrou had 17 points and 6 rebounds, Matt Lojeski had 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists.
Quarters' scores: 20-17, 44-32, 72-47, 94-64.
