Olympiacos beat Panathinaikos for Basket League twenty fourth day

Olympiacos beat Panathinaikos for Basket League twenty fourth day. With another great game by Spanoulis and Printezis Olympiacos doubled its wins against Panathinaikos, secured the first place and the home advantage in the the play offs. Panathinaikos played without James Gist, who was banned due to marijuana use, and this was the last game with Ivanovic as Panathinaikos coach. The game was interrupted for 25 minutes in the end, since home fans broke into court, after Spanoulis celebrated a crucial three pointer.

Olympiacos beat Panionios for Basket League tenth day

Olympiacos beat Panionios for Basket League tenth day. Olympiacos with a massive defence allowed Panionios to score only 5 points in the first and 13 points in the second quarter. Easy victory for the reds that had 12 players with score. For Panionios only Luke Hancock had two digits score with 17 points and 3 steals. Dimitris Verginis had 7 points and 4 assists, Tony Woods had 6 points and 4 rebounds. For the winners Bryant Dunston had 18 points with 9/11 shots, Vangelis Mantzaris served 7 assists and made 3 steals, Kostas Sloukas had 7 points and 5 assists. Brent Petway made a double double with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Yaroslav Korolev had 0/7 field goals and scored only 3 points with 3 free throws.

Olympiacos beat Korivos Amaliadas for Basket League ninth day

Olympiacos hosted and beat Korivos Amaliadas for Basket League ninth day. This was the first game of Korivos Amalidas against Olympiacos and the visitors troubled the home team for the whole game. The six points lead of the first quarter became three points in the half time and have been eliminated by the third quarter. In the 34th minute the score was 64-64 and Korivos was still in the game but have already made 5 team fouls while Olympiacos had only two. Then Aggelopoulos was charged with a unsportsman-like foul and Olympiacos made a 6-0 run and created a safe difference. With six consecutive points by Vasilis Spanoulis Olympiacos was leading the score by 8 points, with only 3 minutes remaining. Korivos tried to steal the victory and with a three pointers by Aggelopoulos and two free throws by Magette made the score 74-71 with two minutes remaining. Vangelis Mantzaris scored, Vasiljevic missed a three pointer, Petway missed two shots and Spanoulis one and Rubio made the score 76-73. 34 seconds before the end Lafayette missed a three pointer but Petway collected the offensive rebound and Davis committed a foul. Vasilis Spanoulis missed two free throws but Vangelis Mantzaris with a three pointer made the score 79-73, which was the final score since both Vasiljevic and Davis failed to score. Victory for Olympiacos but a tough one against the very competitive Korivos Amaliadas. For Olympiacos Spanoulis had 21 points and 6 assists, Brent Petway had 9 points and 12 rebounds, Vangelis Mantzaris had 9 points and 7 assists. For Korivos Amaliadas Dwayne Davis had 22 points, Nikos Angelopolos and Guille Rubio had 10 points each, Josh Magette had 8 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists, Giorgos Galiotos had 2 points and 10 rebounds. In a great game Olympiacos finished the game with 7 team turnovers while Korivos Amaliadas with 8 team turnovers.

Olympiacos beat KAOD for Basket League eighth day

Olympiacos beat KAOD in Drama for Basket League eighth day. Olympiacos played tight defense on KAOD who had 0/6 three pointers in the first half. Dimitris Agravanis had 10 points in seven minutes in the first half with 1/1 two pointers, 2/2 three pointers and 1/1 free throws. Othello Hunter had 9 rebounds out of 19 team rebounds in the first half. KAOD had 0/3 three pointers in the third quarter but improved and with partial score 20-14 lowered the difference to 17 points. In the last quarter KAOD did not complete its counter attack and Olympiacos won by 18 points. KAOD could not expect more with 3/13 three pointers and 18/43 two pointers. For the home team Rod Odom had 14 points and 8 rebounds, Guy-Marc Michel had 12 points and 8 rebounds, Eric Atkins had 6 points and 4 assists. For the winners Vangelis Mantzaris had 17 points, Dimitris Agravanis had 12 points, Othello Hunter had 12 rebounds and 6 points, Vasilis Spanoulis had 8 points and 6 assists.

Olympiacos beat Rethymno Aegean for Basket League sixth day

Olympiacos beat Rethymno Aegean in Rethymno for Basket League sixth day. The coach of Olympiacos Giannis Sfairopoulos was not at his bench due to illness. Olympiacos started the game with a 9-0 run but Rethymno managed to be competitive up to the end. The second and third quarters finished with the score difference below three points but in the fourth quarter Olympiacos allowed Rethymno to score only 5 points and won the game. Rethymno was poor at three pointers, 2/22 shots. For Olympiacos Bryant Dunston and Oliver Lafayette had 11 points each, Vangelis Mantzaris had 9 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists, Brent Petway had 7 rebounds and 5 blocks. For Rethymno Aegean Vincent Council had 16 points, Mouhammad Faye had 13 rebounds and 7 points, Trevis Simpson had 10 points.

Olympiacos beat Galatasaray for Euroleague fifth day

Olympiacos hosted and beat Galatasaray for Euroleague fifth day. Olympiacos continues undefeated in Euroleague 2014-2015 with five victories in five games. WIth double shot accuracy and half turnovers than its opponent Olympiacos could not lose the game. Olympiacos had 29/41, 70% two points accuracy while Galatasaray had 14/37, a poor 37%. Olympiacos finished the game with only 6 turnovers and 26 assists while Galatasaray had only 9 assists. The reds were leading the game with ease and in the last four minutes with a 26-1 run they smashed Galatasaray with 27 points difference! Othello Hunter finished the game with a double double, 17 points and 10 rebounds. Vasilis Spanoulis had 16 points and 7 assists, flawless game for Vangelis Mantzaris who had 15 points with 6/6 shots.

Panathinaikos offers 300k for Vangelis Mantzaris

Panathinaikos president Dimitris Giannakopoulos send an official request for Vangelis Mantzaris to Olympiacos. This is the first time one of the two rivals of the Greek League officially asks a player from the opponent. Panathinaikos offers 300.000€ for the player as stated in the official document here

Olympiacos beat KAOD for Greek League 24th day

Olympiacos hosted and defeated KAOD for Greek Basket League 24th day. KAOD beat Olympiacos in the first round game and ruined any thoughts that Olympiacos players had to finish first in the regular season. In this game Olympiacos didn't face problems winning KAOD. The visitors had only 6 assists in the game. For the winners Bryant Dunston, Vangelis Mantzaris and Vasilis Kavvadas had 10 points each. Bryant Dunston also had 9 rebounds. For KAOD J'Covan Brown had 29 points, Lazeric Jones had 19 points and Julian Vaughn had 11 points and 9 rebounds. Nikola Markovic had 11 rebounds but was very poor at scoring with 2 points, 0/7 field goals, 0/4 three pointers and 2/6 free throws.

Olympiacos beat Malaga for Euroleague Top 16

Olympiacos beat Malaga for Euroleague Top 16 for second time after the victory in Piraeus Greece. The captain Vasilis Spanoulis returned with 20 points and Mat Lojeski helped with 18 points. Vangelis Mantzaris had 2 points but 9 assists and no turnovers, while Brent Petway had 9 points and 7 rebounds. A victory after consecutive defeats for Euroleague winners and now they are back in track.

Aris lost by Olympiacos for Greek League 21st day

Aris hosted Olympiacos for Greek Basket League 21st day. Olympiacos was playing once more without the captain Vasilis Spanoulis and Giorgos Printezis. Olympiacos was counting 20 consecutive victories against Aris. Olympiacos was taking a short lead that Aris was covering in the first half. In the second quarter Aris made a 9-2 run and finished the first half leading the score by 4 points, 40-36. In the tight third quarter Olympiacos was approaching Aris to 1-2 points but the home team managed to reply and keep the difference between 2 and 4 points. Aris took a lead of 5 points in the fourth quarter but Olympiacos replied with a 5-0 run and equalized the score, 56-56 and 58-58. After many missed shots for both teams Bryant Dunston scored four consecutive points and gave his team the lead, 58-62, two minutes before the end. Alexander Vezenkov and Zisis Sarikopoulos didn't score and Lefteris Bochoridis scored only one free throw, 59-62. Bryant Dunston scored again and gave his team the victory in a difficult game. Aris was leading the score and controlling the game for more than 35 minutes but in the end Bryant Dunston scored six consecutive points that were crucial. For Aris Alexander Vezenkov had 15 points, 9 rebounds and Kostas Charisis had 6 points and 9 rebounds. For Olympiacos Vangelis Mantzaris had 7 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and Bryant Dunston 17 points and 6 rebounds.

Apollon Patras lost by Olympiacos for Greek League 20th day

Apollon Patras lost by Olympiacos for Greek Basket League 20th day. Olympiacos played without Vasilis Spanoulis and after having released Jamario Moon. For one more game Lenny Daniel for Apollon Patras and Matt Lojeski were the top scorers of their teams. Olympiacos collected 43 rebounds, had 18 assists but also made 21 turnovers so the score didn't reach two digits.

Dopping control for 4 Olympiacos players

ESKAN, the Greek anti-doping authority, took sample from four Olympiacos' players before the game against Galatasaray for Euroleague.  The four players are Kostas Sloukas, Vangelis Mantzaris, Stratos Perperoglou and Mirza Begić.
