George Vovoras agreed terms with Panathinaikos

George Vovoras agreed terms with Panathinaikos. The Greek coach returns to the Greens as the assistant coach of Argyris Pedoulakis. Vovoras will join the team after he finishes the season with APOEL in Cyprus. Besides Vovoras, Kostas Tsartsaris and Fragiskos Alvertis will join the technical crew of Panathinaikos.

Duško Ivanović and Panathinaikos agreed terms

Duško Ivanović (Душко Ивановић) is the new head coach of Panathinaikos. The coach of the Bosnian national team agreed terms for a two years' contract with the Greek champions. Sotiris Manolopoulos will be the assistant coach, keeping his current position and Fragiskos Alvertis will become the team manager.

Željko Obradović returns to Athens

Željko Obradović returns to Athens for the first time as the opponent coach of Panathinaikos. Obradović was the head coach of Panathinaikos from 1999 to 2012 and won 11 Greek Championships, 7 Greek Cups and 5 Euroleague titles with the team. Panathinaikos' current head coach Fragiskos Alvertis was Panathinaikos' captain when Obradović was the coach and they had a special relationship.

Panathinaikos defeated Anadolu Efes for Euroleague Top 16

Panathinaikos defeated Anadolu Efes in Istanbul for Euroleague Top 16. With Fragiskos Alvertis debuting as coach Panathinaikos managed to win a very tight game where the score was 60-65 after one extra time. In a game where both teams had Greek coaches the defense was the key. Anadolu Efes seemed to control the game and win in the end but Jonas Mačiulis scored a very crucial three pointer 14 seconds before the end and equalized the score leading the game to extra time. Zoran Planinic with 15 points and Antonis Fotsis with 14 points were the top scorers of their teams. Stephane Lasme made a double double with 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Quarters' scores: 10-11, 26-28, 42-44, 54-54. Extra time: 60-65

First statements of Fragiskos Alvertis as coach of Panathinaikos

Fragiskos Alvertis made his first statements as the new coach of Panathinaikos and Dimitris Diamantidis commented that changing coaches in something usual at sports.

Panathinaikos announced coaches Alvertis and Priftis

Panathinaikos announced its new technical team. The head coach will be Panathinaikos' legend Fragiskos Alvertis. Assistant coaches will be Sotiris Manolopoulos, who stays in his position, and Dimitris Priftis. Dimitris Priftis was the coach of Kolossos Rodou since November when he replaced Vasilis Fragias. This is the second Greek coach for Panathinaikos, after Želimir Obradović left the club.
