Peristeri Acquires Alvaro Cardenas on Loan from Valencia

Peristeri BC has announced the acquisition of 23-year-old Spanish point guard Alvaro Cardenas on a loan deal from Valencia for the upcoming 2025-2026 season. Cardenas, who spent the last few seasons in NCAA college basketball, will reinforce the team's backcourt.

Peristeri's statement reads: "KAE Peristeri announces the acquisition of Alvaro Cardenas on loan from Valencia for the 2025-2026 season. The 23-year-old Spaniard will strengthen the team's perimeter line next season. Alvaro Cardenas is the definition of a playmaker. Very good in game organization, an excellent creator, while also providing offensive solutions when required."

Player Profile


Alvaro Cardenas Torre was born on April 29, 2002, in Granada, Spain. He stands at 1.85m (6'1") and plays as a point guard.

Cardenas spent three seasons (2021-2024) playing college basketball at San Jose State University. His progression was evident, culminating in his final season (2023-24) with the Spartans where he averaged:

13.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, 5.5 assists, and 0.9 steals. His shooting percentages were 45.9% from the field, 39.8% from three-point range, and 83.3% from the free-throw line in 29 games.

For the 2024-2025 season, Cardenas transferred to Boise State University. In his single season with the Broncos, he further developed his game, averaging:

11.5 points, 3.3 rebounds, 7.1 assists, and 1.4 steals. In 34 games, he played an average of 27.1 minutes, shooting 41.7% from the field, 31.1% from three, and 76.9% from the free-throw line.

Following his collegiate career, Alvaro Cardenas returned to Spain, signing with Valencia, from whom Peristeri has now acquired him on loan. His strong playmaking abilities and consistent improvement in the NCAA make him a promising addition to Peristeri's roster.

Moraitis Extends with Panathinaikos until 2028, Joins Iraklis on Loan for 2025-26

Just hours after extending his contract with Panathinaikos BC, Dimitris Moraitis has agreed to play for Iraklis on loan for the upcoming 2025-2026 season. This move will see the international Greek guard gain further valuable experience.

Player Profile


Dimitrios Moraitis, born on February 3, 1999, in Maroussi, Attica, Greece, is a 1.94-meter (6'4.5") tall guard, weighing 86 kg (190 lb). Primarily a point guard/shooting guard, he has been a consistent presence in Greek basketball since beginning his professional career in 2014. Moraitis went undrafted in the 2021 NBA Draft.

Just before this loan agreement, Panathinaikos BC announced the extension of Moraitis's contract until the summer of 2028, demonstrating the club's long-term belief in his potential.

Moraitis joined Panathinaikos BC in 2023 and has contributed to the team's recent successes.

2023-24 Season (Greek Basket League): In 20 regular season games, he averaged 4.8 points, 1.1 rebounds, 1.1 assists, and 1.0 steals in 9.3 minutes per contest. He showcased strong shooting percentages with 55.4% from the field, 56.4% from three-point range, and 91.7% from the free-throw line.
2024-25 Season (Greek Basket League): Across 13 regular season games, he averaged 3.9 points, 0.5 rebounds, and 1.7 assists in 8.7 minutes.

Upcoming Season (2025-26) and Family Legacy


Despite his contract extension with Panathinaikos BC, Moraitis will spend the entire 2025-26 season on loan with Iraklis. This move also carries a special family connection, as Dimitris will follow in the footsteps of his father, Kostas Moraitis, who famously played for Iraklis from 1994 to 1996. Dimitris will now be "a resident of Ivanofio," Iraklis's home arena, for the next season.

Olympiacos Loans Giorgios Tanoulis to Maroussi for the 2024-25 Season

Olympiacos has announced the loan of 21-year-old center Giorgios Tanoulis to Maroussi for the remainder of the 2024-25 season. Giorgios Tanoulis, born on July 27, 2002, in Thessaloniki, Greece, stands at six foot eleven (2.10m). He plays as a center and most recently participated in preparations for Greece's national team.

Basketball Career


PAOK Thessaloniki (2019-2020): Tanoulis began his career with PAOK's youth teams, excelling in the Greek Youth Championship and being named one of the top five players of the 2019/20 season. He made his Greek Basket League debut on May 18, 2019, against Promitheas Patras.
Promitheas Patras (2020-2023): On September 7, 2020, he signed a five-year contract with Promitheas Patras, debuting on October 6, 2020, in the EuroCup against Aquila Trento. He set his career-high with 16 points against Olympiacos on April 14, 2022, and later surpassed it with 19 points against Larisa on June 15, 2022.
Olympiacos (2023-present): On July 15, 2023, Tanoulis signed a four-year deal with Olympiacos. He has been part of Greece's junior national teams and made his debut for the senior national team on February 27, 2023, against Latvia, scoring 7 points.

Peristeri sign Yaser Saleh

Peristeri sign Yaser Saleh. The 20-year-old Egyptian Greek guard/forward penned a three years contract with the newly promoted club. Saleh started his career with Ikaros Kallitheas and in the last season he played for Papagos in A2 League Greece. In 30 games with Papagos Saleh averaged 5.5 points and 2.9 rebounds. Saleh will play on loan to Dafni Dafniou in the B League.

Vlantimir Giankovits will play on loan to Aris from Valencia for the rest of the season. Giankovits started his career with Panionios in 2007, and has played for KK Mega Vizura in Serbia and Panathinaikos in Greece. He started this season in Spain with Valencia but will finish the season in Greece on loan to Aris.

Nick Pavlos on loan to Pagrati

Nick Pavlos will play on loan to Pagrati. The young Greek-American player will continue to play in the A2 Basket League on loan from AEK. Pavlos penned a two years contract with AEK in 2015 and played on loan with Doukas in the previous season. With Doukas, in 23 games he averaged 6.6 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per game.

Diplaros moves on loan to Machites Doxas Pefkon. Aris announced that Nikos Diplaros will play on loan to the Machites Doxas Pefkon (A2 division), for the upcoming season. Diplaros started his career from Esperos Patras and a year ago he penned a 5 years contract with AEK. AEK and Diplaros parted ways a month later with the young player moving to Aris. Diplaros is a member of the Greece U20 national team.

Vassilis Kavvadas manager announced that the player will play on loan to Arkadikos until the end of the season. Kavvadas was signed by Olympiacos in 2013 with a 5 years contract and in the previous season he averaged 2.5 points and 1.2 rebounds in 5.2 minutes in 31 games.

Arkadikos signed Devon Van Oostrum

Arkadikos signed Devon Van Oostrum. The newly promoted team signed the 22 years old British guard for one year on loan from Laboral Kutxa. Van Oostrum played for Huesca in the Spanish second division and averaged 10.2 points and 4.1 assists per game. Besides Laboral Kutxa and Huesca, he has played for Tarragona, Cibona, Kouvot, and Leeds Force.

Giannoulis Larentzakis continues with Kolossos Rodou. The 22 years old Greek guard penned a 3 years contract with Aris on 2013 but played only one year and since last year is on loan to Kolossos Rodou. Larentzakis played 28 games with Kolossos averaging 7.11 points and 2.68 rebounds, but Aris' coach does not think the player will be useful for the team.
