Apollon Patras sign Giorgos Tsiaras

Apollon Patras sign Giorgos Tsiaras. The 34 years old Greek forward penned an one year contract. Apollon will be the seventh Greek team for Tsiaras, who started his career with AEK and has also played for Aris, Trikala, Olympia Larissas, PAOK, Panionios, and Ikaros Kallitheas. Tsiaras has also played in Czech Republic for ČEZ Nymburk, in Romania for CS Gaz Metan Mediaş, and in Spain for Club Melilla Baloncesto.

Rethymno signed Hoerdur Vihjalmsson


Rethymno Cretan Kings signed Hoerdur Vihjalmsson (Hörður Vilhjálmsson). The 27 years old guard became the first player from Iceland to play in Basket League Greece when he was signed by Trikala a year ago. Vihjalmsson played six games with Trikala, before moving to Czech Republic for Nymbourg, but he returned back to Trikala in February. In 16 games with Trikala he averaged 4.63 points, 2.88 rebounds and 3.88 assists in 28 minutes per game. 

*Vihjalmsson left Rethymno without playing a game after Tony Konstantinides became the head coach of the club

Ovie Soko moves to Brindisi

Ovie Soko moves to Italy to help the team of Brindisi in the Serie A play offs. The British had a great regular season in Basket League Greece with Trikala averaging 16.5 points and 8 rebounds per game. Soko came to Trikala from the French League B and turned to be the leader of his team.

Trikala signed Paul Jones

Trikala signed Paul Jones. The 27 years old American forward graduated from Western Washington University and has played professionally in Mexico for Mineros de Caborca, in Uruguay for Bohemios Montevideo, in New Zealand for Telecom Business Hub Jets, and was tested in Hungary by Marso Nyiregyhazi KK. Jones started this year in Israel for Elitzur Ashkelon where he averaged 17 points and 11.3 rebounds in three games.

Demetrius Conger left Trikala

Demetrius Conger left Trikala and will continue his career in Israel for Hapoel Tel Aviv. The 26 years old American forward was one of the best players of Trikala averaging 16.4 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game. Coach Flevarakis is good at finding good foreign players for his team but without enough budget such good players are hard to keep. Conger agreed terms with Trikala in August 2015.

Hörður Vilhjálmsson returned to Trikala

The 28 years old Icelandic guard started the season in Trikala but played only four games when he paid his buy out option and moved to Czech Republic for Nymburk. In Nymburk he did not have game time and the player is back to Trikala.

Trikala signed Brandon Brown

Trikala signed Brandon Brown. The 31 years old American power forward graduated from Cal State San Bernardino college in 2009 and started this season in second league of Israel for Hapoel Gilboa. He has also played in Argentina for Lanus, in Cyprus for Apollon, and in France for Nancy and Denain ASC Voltaire. Brown will replace Reger Dowell.

Trikala signed Junior Cadougan

Trikala signed Junior Cadougan. The 25 years old Jamaican-Canadian point guard graduated from Marquette and agreed terms with Milwaukee Bucks but did not signed a contract due to visa issues. In 2013-2014 he played in Georgia for Batumi and in the previous season in Italy for Avellino. In Georgia he was named guard of the season 2013-2014 and in Italy he averaged 2.2 points in 19 games. Cadougan is member of the Canada National Basketball Team.

Hörður Vilhjálmsson leaves Aries Trikala

Hörður Vilhjálmsson leaves Aries Trikala. The 27 years old guard became the first Icelandic player of Basket League Greece but after only two league games and two cup games (9 and 11 points), Vilhjálmsson leaves Trikala for ČEZ Basketball Nymburk and the Czech League. The player paid his buy out, and coach Vlefarakis is left complaining for his team's management. Vilhjálmsson counts two victories (against Korivos Amaliadas and against Kavala) in Basket League with 10 points (1/4 2p, 2/6 3p, 2/2 FT), 3 rebounds, 7 assists, 1 block, 2 steals and 7 turnovers.

Trikala signed Karathanasis, Kalogiannidis and Tsiloulis

Trikala added three new, young Greek players: Karathanasis, Kalogiannidis and Tsiloulis.
Giannis Karathanasis is a 24 years old forward that has played for Mantoulidis, Panellinios, Kavala and Aris.

Filippos Kalogiannidis is a 21 years old guard and member of the Greece U21 national team. He has played for Ermis Lagada and he participated in Olympiacos summer training.

Thodoros Tsiloulis is a 22 years old guard that had played for Trikala when the team was promoted from A2 to A1 league. Tsiloulis has also played for Foinikas Larisas, Olympia Larisas and Peristeri.

Trikala signed Ovie Soko. The 24 years old British forward graduated from Duquesne and in the previous season played in France Pro B for Boulazac where he averaged 13.8 points and 5.6 rebounds in 32 games.

Trikala signed Gene Teague

Trikala signed Gene Teague. The 26 years old American center graduated from Seton Hall and in his rookie season played in France and Argentina. In France Teague played with Evreux in ProB Division averaging 9.3 points and 5.7 rebounds in 24 games, while in Argentina played with Athletico Argentino averaging 9.5 points and 5.3 rebounds in 17 games.

Trikala signed Reger Dowell

Trikala signed Reger Dowell. The 24 years old American guard graduated from Texas Arlington where he finished with the second-highest single-season point total (608) in UTA history, averaging 20.6 points per game in his senior year. In the previous season he played in Belarus Premier League and Eurochallenge for Tsmoki-Minsk and in Argentina for Penarol.

Trikala signed Manolis Koukoulas and Dimitris Siologkas.
The 24 years old Koukoulas is 208 centimetres high and has played for Ilisiakos, Kolossos Rodou, KAOD and Panionios.
The 21 years old Siologkas is 198 centimetres high and has played for Mantoulidis College, Iraklis BC in A2 Division and in the previous season played six games with Kolossos Rodou in Basket League Greece. He was a member of Greece U20 team that participated in Eurobasket 2014.

Trikala signed Demetrius Conger. The 25 years old American forward graduated from Saint Bonaventure and then moved to Italy for Lucca. After one season with Lucca he moved to Serie B Fulgor Omegna where he averaged 13.6 points and 6.3 rebounds in 30 games.

Trikala signed Hoerdur Vihjalmsson

Aries Trikala signed Hoerdur Vihjalmsson (Hörður Vilhjálmsson). Vilhjálmsson became the first Icelandic player of Basket League Greece and the second player from Iceland that will play basketball in Greece, after Teitur Örlygsson who played for AE Larissa in 1996-1997 season. The 27 years old Icelandic guard started his career in Iceland with Fjölnir Reykjavík before moving to Spain for Gran Canaria Las Palmas. He returned to Iceland for UMFN Njarðvík, back to Spain for Caja Rural Melilla and then back to Iceland for Keflavík. In 2011 he played for the first time in Germany for Mitteldeutscher Basketball Club, in 2013 he returned to Spain for CB Valladolid and in the previous season he played once more for Mitteldeutscher BC where he averaged 10 points and 2.6 assists in 32 games.
