Aris Signs David DeJulius

Aris BC has announced the signing of David DeJulius for the upcoming 2024-25 season. The 1.83m tall point guard was born on August 9, 1999, and brings significant experience from his college and early professional career.

College Career:

DeJulius began his collegiate career with the Michigan Wolverines in 2018. In his rookie season, he played in 25 games. During his sophomore year, he averaged 7 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game over 31 games, with an average playing time of 20 minutes.

In the summer of 2020, DeJulius transferred to Cincinnati, drawing interest from over 20 colleges. His first season with the Bearcats was cut short due to COVID-19, but he still managed to average 9.1 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 4.2 assists in 19 games, with 29.5 minutes per game. In his fourth year, he led the Bearcats in scoring with 14.5 points per game, along with 2.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists, earning a spot on the second team of his conference. Utilizing the extra eligibility granted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he played another season at Cincinnati, where he averaged 14.8 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 5.3 assists, with his 192 assists ranking third in school history behind only Oscar Robertson's records.

Professional Career:

DeJulius began his professional career in 2023 with Greek club Lavrio. In 13 games, he averaged 14.4 points and 3.5 assists, shooting 92.8% from the free-throw line, 52.2% from two-point range, and 33.3% from three-point range. His best performance came in a game against Aris, where he scored 25 points. Midway through the season, he moved to BG Göttingen in Germany, where he averaged 13.6 points and 5.1 assists per game.

On June 22, 2024, DeJulius signed with Aris, marking his return to Greece for the new season.

Marousi Signs Cyril Langevine Jr. for Two Years

Marousi has announced a significant addition to their roster with the signing of Cyril Langevine Jr. for the next two years. The 26-year-old power forward, standing at 2.03 meters, previously played for Chorale Roanne Basket in France and is well-known in Greece from his time with Lavrio in the 2022-23 season.

Biography

Cyril Langevine Jr. (born August 16, 1998) is a Guyanese-American professional basketball player known for his strong presence in the paint and his defensive skills. Raised in East Orange, New Jersey, Langevine attended The Patrick School where he excelled in basketball, averaging 10 points, seven rebounds, and two blocks per game as a senior. He committed to Rhode Island over offers from several other colleges.


College Career

Langevine played college basketball for the Rhode Island Rams from 2016 to 2020. As a freshman, he contributed to a team that reached the NCAA Tournament, averaging 3.2 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. His junior year was particularly standout, where he averaged 14.7 points, 9.9 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per game, earning him a spot on the Second Team All-Atlantic 10. He concluded his college career with an average of 10.1 points, 10.3 rebounds, and two blocks per game in his senior year.


Professional Career

Langevine began his professional career in Sweden with Jämtland Basket in the 2020-21 season. He impressed with averages of 15.1 points, 12.2 rebounds, 1.1 assists, and 1.9 blocks per game, earning First Team All-Basketligan honors and helping his team reach the semifinals.

In the 2021-22 season, he moved to Poland, playing for Śląsk Wrocław where he averaged 9.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.1 assists, and 1.1 blocks per game. He also had a stint with King Szczecin in Poland, averaging 9.4 points, 7.7 rebounds, 0.9 assists, and 1.3 blocks per game.

Langevine joined Lavrio in Greece in December 2022, where he played 14 league games, averaging 12.4 points and 6.9 rebounds per game. Following his time at Lavrio, he signed with Scagliera Verona in Italy before moving to Chorale Roanne Basket in France for the 2023-24 season, where he averaged 5.4 points and 3.8 rebounds over 30 games.


Eurocup Records

During his tenure with Śląsk Wrocław in the Eurocup, Langevine recorded a personal best of 19 points against Lietuvos Rytas and grabbed 10 rebounds in a match against Lokomotiv Kuban.

Maroussi Signs Young Talent Giannis Karakostas

Maroussi has signed the "Best Young Player" of the Elite League 2023-2024 for the next four years. The 20-year-old point guard Giannis Karakostas will make his debut in the Basket League with the team from the northern suburbs of Athens.

The announcement from Maroussi:

"The G.S. Amarousiou 1896 announces the acquisition of international point guard Giannis Karakostas for the next four years. In the 2023-24 season, as a player of Papagou BC, he was named 'Best Young Player' in the Elite League, with an average of 13.9 points (85.9% free throws, 52.3% two-pointers, and 36.7% three-pointers), 4.7 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.2 steals in 31 minutes per game."

Giannis Karakostas Bio and Career

Giannis Karakostas comes from a basketball family, with his father Fotis being a coach and his brother Nikos a basketball player. He was born on February 4, 2004, stands 1.90 meters tall, and plays as a guard. He began his basketball journey with GAO Koukouvaunon. In the 2019-20 season, he played for Panathinaikos, contributing to winning the Greek U16 Championship.

On July 27, 2022, he was acquired by Lavrio and, using a "dual license," also played for Papagou to gain experience. With Lavrio, he recorded 3 appearances in the Basket League in the 2022-23 season, scoring 5 points in 8 minutes in a game against Kolossos (April 9, 2023).

He continued with Papagou, where he stood out and proved that he is ready for the next step in his career. He is currently a member of the national teams (now with the U20 team) and a student at the Athens School of Dentistry.


Season Highlights

Karakostas finished the last season with Papagou, playing 34 games and averaging 31 minutes per game. He scored a total of 473 points, with an impressive shooting performance: 52.3% on two-pointers, 36.7% on three-pointers, and 85.9% from the free-throw line. He also contributed significantly with 4.7 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.2 steals per game, accumulating a total efficiency rating of 536, which averages to 15.8 per game. He was named the best young player in the Elite League and is Maroussi's fourth signing after acquiring Elvar Fridriksson, Jonathan Stove, and Ismael Sanogo.

This impressive performance earned him the title of "Best Young Player" in the Elite League and paved the way for his move to Maroussi, where he is expected to continue his promising career.

Lavrio BC Signs New Guard Taz Sherman for 2024-2025 Season

Lavrio BC has officially announced the signing of American guard Taz Sherman for the upcoming 2024-2025 basketball season. Sherman, a Missouri City, Texas native, brings a wealth of experience and impressive statistics from his time in both European leagues and American college basketball.

A Rising Star from West Virginia University

Sherman graduated from West Virginia University in 2022, where he played a pivotal role for the Mountaineers. In his final season, Sherman averaged 17.7 points, 3 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1.3 steals per game over 31 appearances, with an average of 34 minutes on the court. His shooting accuracy from beyond the arc stood at 34.6%. These achievements earned him a spot on the Second Team All-Big 12, highlighting his significant contribution to one of the most competitive conferences in college basketball.

European Career: From Hungary to Finland

Following his collegiate success, Sherman began his professional career in Europe. His first stop was with Budapesti Honvéd SE in Hungary during the 2022-2023 season. Sherman showcased his scoring prowess by averaging 15.7 points per game, along with 2.6 rebounds and 2.6 assists. Notably, he shot an impressive 41.6% from three-point range, solidifying his reputation as a reliable perimeter shooter.

The following season, Sherman joined Kobrat in Finland’s top division, Korisliiga. He elevated his performance further, averaging 19 points, 3.3 rebounds, 4.1 assists, and 1.3 steals per game. Sherman started all 33 games he played, spending nearly 32 minutes on the court per game. His consistency and ability to perform under pressure were reflected in his three-point shooting percentage of 34.1%.

AEK signed Dimitris Kaklamanakis

AEK signed Dimitris Kaklamanakis. The 25-year-old Greek center penned a two-year contract. Kaklamanakis started his career with Peristeri in 2013 and a year later he moved to Ilisiakos. In 2015 Kaklamanakis moved to Lavrio where he played for four seasons. In the previous season, Kaklamanakis averaged 8.2 points and 5.5 rebounds per game in 26 for the Basketleague Greece and was voted the most improved player of the league. In February 2019 Kaklamanakis became a member of the Greek national team.

Lavrio signed William Buford


Lavrio signed William Buford. The 28-year-old American guard graduated from Ohio State and went undrafted in the 2012 NBA Draft. Buford started his career in Spain with Obradoiro where he averaged 3.6 points and 1.5 rebounds per game. Buford has also played in NBA G League for Santa Cruz Warriors, Canton Charge, and Texas Legends, in Germany for Tigers Tübingen and Göttingen, and in France for Limoges and BCM Gravelines.

Panionios signed Giorgos Papadimitriou

Panionios signed Giorgos Papadimitriou. The 25-year-old Greek guard started his career with Filathlitikos in the A2 League and in 2017 he moved to Lavrio. With Filathlitikos Papadimitriou averaged 10.3 points per game and in 13 games with Lavrio for the Basket League 2017-2018, he averaged 1.23 points in almost 4 minutes per game.

Ifaistos Limnou signed Antwaine Wiggins


Ifaistos Limnou signed Antwaine Wiggins. That will be the second season in Basket League Greece for the 30-year-old American forward who played for Lavrio in the previous season. Wiggins graduated from Charleston and went undrafted in the 2012 NBA Draft. Antwaine played in Brazil for Palmeiras and in the NBA D-League with the Raptors 905. Antwaine is the nephew of Mitchell Wiggins who played in Greece for Milonas (1993-1994/1997-1998), and Sporting (1994-1996). In July 2017 Wiggins joined Lavrio on a one year contract and in his first season in Greece he averaged 11 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game.

Peristeri sign Steven Gray

Peristeri sign Steven Gray. The 29-year-old American guard graduated from Gonzaga and went undrafted in the 2011 NBA Draft. Gray started his professional career in Latvia with BK Ventspils and has also played in France for Chorale Roanne, JDA Dijon, and BCM Gravelines, and in Lebanon for  Tadamon Zouk. In 2016 Gray signed with Lavrio where he played for the next two seasons. In his first season, Gray averaged 10.6 points and 2.5 rebounds, while in his last season he averaged 10.3 points and 2.6 rebounds. Gray finished the last season in Croatia with KK Zadar where he averaged 19.8 points and 3.1 rebounds per game. Gray penned a one-year contract with the newly promoted club.

Promitheas signed Tony Meier


Promitheas signed Tony Meier. The 28-year-old American forward graduated from the University of Wisconsin where he played for Milwaukee Panthers. Meier started his professional career in Australia for Frankston Blues and has also played in Poland for Polpharma Starogard Gdanski, and Portugal for Vitória de Guimarães. In 2015 Meier joined Apollon Patras, where he was the top scorer of the team averaging 11.31 points per game. After a break in the Czech Republic for CEZ Nymburk Meier returned to Greece for Lavrio being the second top scorer of the team averaging 11.54 points per game.
