Peristeri BC Signs Ty Nichols

Peristeri BC has announced an agreement with American guard Ty Nichols (29 years old, 1.91 meters / 6'3"). Nichols will join the club for the 2025-2026 season, strengthening their backcourt.

Player Profile and Career

Ty Nichols was born on October 13, 1996, in Springfield, Massachusetts. He is a versatile guard known for his scoring, playmaking, and defensive abilities.

He played his collegiate basketball at Keene State College (2015-2019), where he had a highly successful four-year career. In 118 games, he averaged 19.6 points, 5.6 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 2.3 steals in 33.4 minutes per game.

Nichols began his professional career in Kosovo with KB Kalaja Prizren in the 2019-2020 season, where he put up impressive numbers: 19.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 1.9 steals in 16 games.

His career has since seen him play across multiple European leagues:

2020-2021: Started with KB Kalaja Prizren and finished the season with Vellaznimi Gjakove (Kosovo). In 18 combined games, he averaged 16.7 points, 4.1 rebounds, 6.7 assists, and 1.9 steals.

2021-2022: Played for BK Decin in the Czech Republic, and later returned to KB Kalaja Prizren. Across 36 games, he averaged 16.1 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 2.4 steals.

2022-2023: Returned to BK Decin (Czech Republic), where he averaged 18.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 2.5 steals in 47 games.

2023-2024: Continued in the Czech Republic with SLUNETA Usti nad Labem. In 59 games, he had an outstanding season, averaging 21.0 points, 3.9 rebounds, 5.2 assists, and 2.2 steals.

2024-2025: Began the season with BK Levicki Patrioti Levice (Slovakia), then moved to Oldenburg (Germany), and finished the year with Zielona Gora (Poland). In a combined 35 games across these teams, he averaged 15.9 points, 3.2 rebounds, 5.1 assists, and 1.7 steals in 28 minutes per game.

Nichols' performances in European competitions during the last season highlight his versatile skill set:

2024-25 (Levickí Patrioti, BCL Qualifiers): Averaged 22.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 7.0 assists in 2 games (32.5 minutes), with 58.6% FG and 36.4% 3P%. He also recorded an impressive 4.5 steals per game.

Peristeri Acquires Alvaro Cardenas on Loan from Valencia

Peristeri BC has announced the acquisition of 23-year-old Spanish point guard Alvaro Cardenas on a loan deal from Valencia for the upcoming 2025-2026 season. Cardenas, who spent the last few seasons in NCAA college basketball, will reinforce the team's backcourt.

The 23-year-old Spaniard will strengthen the team's perimeter line next season. Alvaro Cardenas is the definition of a playmaker. Very good in game organization, an excellent creator, while also providing offensive solutions when required."

Player Profile


Alvaro Cardenas Torre was born on April 29, 2002, in Granada, Spain. He stands at 1.85m (6'1") and plays as a point guard.

Cardenas spent three seasons (2021-2024) playing college basketball at San Jose State University. His progression was evident, culminating in his final season (2023-24) with the Spartans where he averaged:

13.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, 5.5 assists, and 0.9 steals. His shooting percentages were 45.9% from the field, 39.8% from three-point range, and 83.3% from the free-throw line in 29 games.

For the 2024-2025 season, Cardenas transferred to Boise State University. In his single season with the Broncos, he further developed his game, averaging:

11.5 points, 3.3 rebounds, 7.1 assists, and 1.4 steals. In 34 games, he played an average of 27.1 minutes, shooting 41.7% from the field, 31.1% from three, and 76.9% from the free-throw line.

Following his collegiate career, Alvaro Cardenas returned to Spain, signing with Valencia, from whom Peristeri has now acquired him on loan. His strong playmaking abilities and consistent improvement in the NCAA make him a promising addition to Peristeri's roster.

Panionios Signs George Papas

Panionios Signs George Papas. The club from Nea Smyrni is significantly strengthening its Greek core, with Gkikas and Tsalmpouris renewing their contracts, and now Lountzis and Papas joining coach Pavicevic's roster.

George Papas, a Greek-American guard born on March 15, 1998, in Jersey City, New Jersey, stands at 1.96m (6'5") and weighs 90kg (198 lbs). He primarily plays as a shooting guard but can also play small forward. Known for his versatility and offensive capabilities, he brings scoring and playmaking to the perimeter.

Career History


Papas's career has seen him develop through the NCAA and then return to play in Greece.

NCAA (Monmouth Hawks, 2017-2022): He spent five seasons with the Monmouth Hawks, steadily increasing his production year-over-year. His peak came in his final season (2021-22), where he started 34 games and averaged 14.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 3.0 assists in over 35 minutes per game.

Olympiacos (2022-2024): After going undrafted in the 2022 NBA Draft, Papas joined Greek powerhouse Olympiacos. Here, he achieved significant domestic success, winning the Greek League championship (2023), the Greek Cup (2023), and two Greek Super Cups (2022, 2023). Peristeri (2024-2025): His most recent club, where he played a more prominent role, averaging 10.4 points, 2.6 assists, and 1.9 rebounds in the Greek League. In the Basketball Champions League, he averaged 7.9 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 1.8 assists.

Nikos Chougkaz and Panathinaikos Part Ways After Four Years

Nikos Chougkaz and Panathinaikos have decided to go their separate ways after four years. This decision comes as Panathinaikos is well-stocked at the power forward position with players like Dinos Mitoglou, Juancho Hernangomez, and Lefteris Mantzoukas. Mantzoukas has also been loaned to Aris to gain more playing time.

Panathinaikos had until today to activate the renewal option in the 23-year-old forward's contract, but they chose not to, allowing Chougkaz to become a free agent. Currently, Chougkaz has several offers, but he seems to prefer staying with Peristeri for the upcoming season.

Panionios (2018-2019): Chougkaz began his professional career with Panionios in the Greek first division. In his debut season, he played 10 games, averaging 3.4 points and 1.1 rebounds in 9.6 minutes per game.

Northwestern State University (2019-2020): He then moved to the United States to play college basketball at Northwestern State University. In his single season there, he averaged 9.2 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 1.2 assists over 29 games.

Greek Teams in the 2024-25 Basketball Champions League

FIBA has announced the list of teams that will participate in both the regular season and the qualifiers of the Basketball Champions League (BCL) for the upcoming season. Four Greek teams have secured their spots directly in the regular season: AEK BC, Peristeri, Promitheas Patras, and Kolossos Rodou. Additionally, PAOK will compete for a place in the "32" through the qualifiers, along with 24 other teams.

The qualifiers will take place from September 16th to 22nd, with the regular season tipping off on October 1st. Notably, AEK, Tenerife, and Oostende are the only teams with nine consecutive seasons of participation in the BCL.

In the regular season, eight groups of four teams each will be formed, with the group winners advancing directly to the "16." Teams finishing in 2nd and 3rd place will battle for the remaining spots through the play-ins. In the "16" phase, teams will compete in four groups of four, with the top two from each group moving on to the quarterfinals.

Kolossos Rhodes announced their participation in the Basketball Champions League (BCL) for the upcoming season and revealed that they will initially use the "Dimitris Tofalos" arena in Patras as their home venue. They expressed their gratitude to Promitheas Patras for their cooperation.

Georgios Limniatis Appointed Head Coach of Peristeri BC

Peristeri BC has officially announced Georgios Limniatis as their new head coach for the 2024-2025 season. Limniatis, who has previously coached Lavrio Megabolt and Maroussi, will be stepping in to replace Vassilis Spanoulis.

Argyris Pedoulakis is the new head coach of Panathinaikos

Argyris Pedoulakis is the new head coach of Panathinaikos. The 55-year-old Greek coach returns to Panathinaikos for the third time as a head coach. Pedoulakis had played for Panathinaikos from 1986 until 1992 and was the head coach of the team in 2012 (until 2014) and 2016. Pedoulakis had a great season with Peristeri leading the team to the second place in the Basketleague Greece, where they lost against Panathinaikos in the Finals, and in the Basketball Champions League.

Peristeri signed Moses Kingsley


Peristeri signed Moses Kingsley. The 24-year-old Nigerian center graduated from Arkansas College and went undrafted in the 2017 NBA Draft. In his four seasons with the Arkansas Razorbacks Kinglsey scored 1.200 points and made 24 double-doubles. Kingsley started his professional career in Belgium with Antwerp Giants where he played for the last two seasons and won the Belgian Cup in 2019 and finished third in the Basketball Champions League (2019).

Peristeri signed Christos Saloustros

Peristeri signed Christos Saloustros. The 29-year-old Greek guard penned a two-year contract with Peristeri. Saloustros started his career from Filathlitikos and made his debut in the Basketleague with Panionios in 2013. He then has played for PAOK, Kolossos Rodou and Promitheas. In the last season with Promitheas Saloustros averaged 5.6 points and 4.4 rebounds in 16 games for the Basketball Champions League and 5.5 points and 3.8 rebounds for the domestic league. Saloustros was voted the most improved player of Basketleague in 2018 and was then called to play for the Greek national team.

Peristeri signed Vasilis Xanthopoulos

Peristeri signed Vasilis Xanthopoulos. The 35-year-old Greek guard penned a two years contract. Xanthopoulos started his career with Olympiacos junior teams and played for professionally for Near East before moving to Panathinaikos in 2004. Xanthopoulos has played for PAOK, Panellinions, Panionios, Aris, and AEK in Greece and with Obradoiro in Spain. Xanthopoulos has won the Euroleague with Panathinaikos, Basketball Champions League and FIBA Intercontinental Cup with AEK.

Ilias Zouros is the new head coach of Peristeri

Ilias Zouros is the new head coach of Peristeri. The 53-years-old Greek coach returns to Greece after nine years and replaces Argyris Pedoulakis who moved to Panathinaikos. Zouros started his career as a head coach with Olympiacos and has also worked for Peristeri, Aris, Panellinios in Greece, for Sagesse Beirut in Lebanon (where he won the Lebanese Championship and the FIBA Asia Champions Cup), in France with Paris Basket Racing, in Lithuania with Zalgiris, in Turkey with Anadolu Efes and Tofas, and in Montenegro with Buducnost. Zouros has also worked as the head coach of the men's national team of Greece and Georgia.

Steven Gray renews with Peristeri. The 30-year-old American guard continues with Peristeri for one more season. Gray joined the newly promoted club a year ago and he averaged 12.4 points per game with Peristeri for the Basket League 2018-2019.

Peristeri and Michalis Polytarchou part ways. The 35-year-old Greek guard was the second top scorer of the club in the previous season helping them to gain promotion. Polytarchou averaged 10.7 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game.

Holargos signed Dionysis Skoulidas

Holargos signed Dionysis Skoulidas. The 21-year-old Greek forward started his professional career at the age of 14 with Peristeri. In 2016 Skoulidas signed with AEK and in the last season he played on loan to Koroivos Amaliadas. With Koroivos Skoulidas averaged 3.2 points and 2.3 rebounds per game. Skoulidas is a member of all Greek junior national teams.

Peristeri sign Keydren Clark

Peristeri (A2) sign Keydren Clark. The 33 years old American guard graduated from St. Peter's and went undrafted in the 2006 NBA Draft. Clark started his professional career in Greece with Egaleo and after a season in Italy with Scavolini Pesaro he returned to Greece for Aris. In 2007 and 2009 Clark was the Greek League's leading scorer, averaging 18.8 points with Egaleo. He continued his career in Italy with Umana Venezia Reyer and Cimberio Varese, in France with Nanterre and SLUC Nancy, and in Turkey with Acıbadem Üniversitesi. In the previous season Clark played 13 games with Promitheas Patras for the Basket League Greece, averaging 12.5 points and 2.4 rebounds per game. Clarks holds a Bulgarian passport.

Holargos sign Robert Gilchrist. The 25 years old British center signed with Peristeri a year ago. In the previous season with Peristeri Gilchrist averaged 12.2 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 2 blocks per game. Gilchrist is a member of the Great Britain national basketball team.
