Vangelis Ziagos is Rethymno's new coach


Vangelis Ziagos is Rethymno's new coach. The 42-year-old Greek coach started this season in Cyprus as the head coach of APOEL but he parted ways with the club earlier this month. Ziagos started his coaching career with AEK and has also managed Doxa Lefkadas, Panionios, and Al Riyadhi. Ziagos replaced Mykoniatis at Rethymno with the club having a 0-6 record this season.

Vangelis Ziagkos is Panionios' new coach

Vangelis Ziagkos is Panionios' new coach. Ziagkos replaces Giorgos Kalafatakis. The 41-year-old Greek coach returns to Panionios after two years. Ziagkos started his coaching career with AEK academies and he was the member of the technical team of AEK during 2008-2011. In 2012 Ziagkos became the head coach of AEK and in two years he promoted the club from B League to Basket League. In November 2014 Ziagkos and AEK parted ways. Ziagkos continued his coaching career with Doxa Lefkadas, Panionios, and Al Riyadhi.

Promitheas sign Rashad Anderson

Promitheas sign Rashad Shaheed Anderson. The 32 years old American player replaced Eli Carter that was released by the club. Anderson graduated from Connecticut where he played professional basketball for the Connecticut Huskies. After going undrafted in the 2006 NBA Draft Anderson started his professional career in Greece with Egaleo BC, where he averaged 14.1 points and 2.7 rebounds per game. Since then Anderson has played in many countries and clubs, such as in Italy for Livorno, Udine, and Cremona, in Lebanon for Al Riyadi, in Iran for Zob Ahan Isfahan, in Lavtia for Ventspils, in Cyprus for Paralimni and in France for Le Havre. In the previous season Anderson played in Hungary for MAFC, averaging 24.3 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.

Rethymno Aegean beat Al Riyadi

Rethymno Aegean beat Al Riyadi Beirut for the the first day of Petros Oikonomakis friendly tournament. The game was tight but in the extra time Fanis Koumpouras and Dejan Kravic gave their team the victory. For Al Riyadi Ibrahim Ahmad scored 19 points, Loren Woods 16 points and Brion Rush 14 points.

Rethymno Aegean, Olympiacos, PAOK and Al Riyadi Beirut will participate in Petros Oikonomakis Tournament

Rethymno Aegean, Olympiacos, PAOK and Al Riyadi Beirut will participate in Petros Oikonomakis Tournament 2014. In the previous year Petros Oikonomakis tournament hosted Panathinaikos, Panionios, Lukoil and Rethymno Aegean. Al Riyadi Beirut was chosen probably because its coach is Slobodan Subotić has a long career history in Greece. Subotić had been the coach of Olympiacos and PAOK in the past. The 4th International Friendly Tournament Petros Oikonomakis will take place between 3-5 October in Melina Merkouri basketball court in Rethymno, Greece.
