Kenny Gabriel renews with Panathinaikos

Kenny Gabriel renews with Panathinaikos. The 28 years old American forward penned his first contract with the Greens in November 2016. Gabriel played 21 games with Panathinaikos for the Basket League Greece, averaging 6.57 points and 3.33 rebounds per game (8 ppg / 4.46 rpg at the regular season). In 2013 Gabriel penned a two years contract with Rethymno. In his first season in Greece he averaged 12.8 points and 9.3 rebounds per game, finishing first in rebounds and fifth in ranking in the regular season. Gabriel finished the season with 10 double doubles and he was named twice MVP of the day. In the next season Gabriel moved to Turkey for Pinar Karsiyaka, where he won the Turkish Championship in his first season. In the last season Gabriel averaged 9.7 points and 4.6 rebounds with Pinar Karsiyaka in Euroleague.

Mouhammad Faye renews with Promitheas

Mouhammad Faye renews with Promitheas. The 31 years old Senegalese forward graduated from the Southern Methodist University in Dallas. Faye started his professional career with Rio Grande Valley Vipers for the NBA D-League, and continued with Hyeres-Toulon in French LNB Pro B. In 2012 Faye came to Greece for Ikaros Kallitheas, averaging 10 points and 7.8 rebounds per game. In the next season Faye moved to Panelefsiniakos, where he averaged 13.5 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. Faye continued with Rethymno Aegean, where he averaged 11.78 points and 8 rebounds per game. Faye renewed his contract with Rethymno but finished the season in Italy for Varese. Finally Faye moved to Promitheas a year ago, and helped his team to avoid relegation by averaging 11.5 points and 6 rebounds per game.

Rethymno Aegean became Rethymno Cretan Kings

Rethymno Aegean changed name, colours, sponsors and replica becoming the Rethymno Cretan Kings in red. The team of Rethymno aims to be the basketball team of whole Crete. The new logo of the team bears the horns of Minotaur, most famous Cretan sign. The home of the team did not change and will remain in Rethymno, Crete of course.

Vincent Council named MVP of Basket League ninth day

Vincent Council named MVP of Basket League 2014-2015 ninth day for his performance against Nea Kifisia. Council scored 22 points with 9/12 free throws, 5/9 two pointers, 1/3 three pointers, collected 4 rebounds, served 10 assists and had 11 fouls drawn in 34 minutes.

Mouhammad Faye named MVP of Basket League eighth day

Mouhammad Faye named MVP of Basket League eighth day for his performance against Apollon Patras. The Senegalese player scored 20 points with 3/5 free throws, 7/10 two pointers and 1/2 three pointers, collected 13 rebounds, served one assist, made four blocks and only one turnover in 38 minutes.

Rethymno Aegean beat Panionios for Basket League fourth day

Rethymno Aegean hosted and beat Panionios for Basket League fourth day. Panionios with Vangelis Alexandris as its new coach was more competitive but did not celebrate its first victory and will struggle to avoid relegation. For Rethymno Aegean Roeland Schaftenaar made a double double with 25 points and 10 rebounds. Fanis Koumpouras had 10 points and 5 assists. Trevis Simpson, Chaisson Allen and Mouhammed Faye had 9 points each. For Panionios Yaroslav Korolev had 14 points and 8 rebounds and the new addition Gabe Prewitt had 12 points with 4 three pointers.

Panionios signed Gabe Pruitt

Panionios signed Gabe Pruitt. The 28 years old American guard played five games with Rethymno Aegean in the Basket League Greece 2013-2014 and he was named MVP of the first day. Pruitt will help Panionios to avoid relegation with his experience.

Rethymno Aegean beat KAOD for Basket League second day

Rethymno Aegean hosted and defeated KAOD for Basket League second day. First quarter was bad for both team with many missed shots (4/16 field goald for each team) and low score, 9-11. The second quarter was slightly beter but still tight and in the end Rethymno Aegean with Faye and Schaftenaar created a difference of 6 points, 35-29. Allen and Schaftenaar for Rethymno finished the first half with 9 points each. The home team improved at third quarter and with Simpson and Schaftenaar expanded the difference to 9 points, 50-41. KAOD was pressing Rethymno but the home team dominated rebounds and won the game. Mouhammad Faye finished the game with a double double, 19 points and 11 rebounds. Roeland Schaftenaar had 11 points, 6 rebounds and Trevis Simpson had 13 points. For KAOD Eric Atkins had 16 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds. Rob Loe had 13 points, Thororis Zaras had 12 points and Terone Johnson 7 points and 5 assists.

Panionios signed Brian Fitzpatrick. Fitzpatrick came to Greece for Rethymno Aegean and was released by the team few weeks ago but will continue his career in Basket League Greece with Panionios.

PAOK beat Rethymno Aegean for Basket League first day

PAOK hosted and defeated Rethymno Aegean for Basket League first day. In a very tight game, that needed an extra time in order to have a winner, PAOK beat Rethymno Aegean with its new players Marc Carter and Julian Vaughn. Marc Carter had 19 points, Julian Vaughn had 15 points and 6 rebounds and Christos Saloustros had 11 points. For Rethymno Aegean Chaisson Allen had 16 points and 7 rebounds, Trevis Simpson had 15 points and 8 rebounds, Roeland Schaftenaar had 15 points and 5 rebounds, Mouhammad Faye had 12 points and 7 rebounds.

Rethymno Aegean signed Roeland Schaftenaar

Rethymno Aegean signed Roeland Schaftenaar. The 26 years old Dutch will replace Brian Fitzpatrick. Schaftenaar is 2.11m high and graduated from Oregon State. After graduation the Dutch center played four years in the second division of Spain, two years for UB La Palma and two years for CB Breogán. Schaftenaar is member of the National basketball team of Netherlands.

Olympiacos beat Rethymno for Petros Oikonomakis tournament

Olympiacos beat Rethymno Aegean for Petros Oikonomakis friendly tournament. Olympiacos had a great day with 64% accuracy in three pointers. Rethymno Aegean had a great Faye with 15 points (4/5 three pointers), Council with 16 points and Koumpouras with 13 points (5/5 field goals). For Olympiacos Matt Lojeski had 21 points, Kostas Sloukas had 7 points and 9 assists, while Petway and Hunter dominated the rebounds.

Rethymno Aegean beat Al Riyadi Beirut for the the first day of Petros Oikonomakis friendly tournament. The game was tight but in the extra time Fanis Koumpouras and Dejan Kravic gave their team the victory. For Al Riyadi Ibrahim Ahmad scored 19 points, Loren Woods 16 points and Brion Rush 14 points.

Rethymno Aegean beat Nea Kifisia in friendly game. In another home friendly game for Nea Kifisia but this time could not win. For Rethymno Aegean Trevis Simpson scored 18 points and Giannis Sinis 20 points. For Nea Kifisia Nikos Liakopoulos scored 10 and Michalis Kakiouzis scored 12 points but all players scored.

Rethymno Aegean signed Brian Fitzpatrick for two years. The American forward graduated from Bucknell college where he played three years for Bucknell Bison in the NCAA averaging 9.3 points and 5.1 rebounds in his last season.

Rethymno Aegean signed Trevis Simpson

Rethymno Aegean signed Trevis Simpson. The 23 years old American forward played three years for Greensboro Spartans in the NCAA averaging 18.7 points and 4.2 rebounds. In the previous season Simpson played for Kolossos Rodou and in 23 games he averaged 6.5 points and 2.4 rebounds.

Korivos Amaliadas signed Andreas Kanonidis. Kanonidis started his career in Panionios and has also played for Ilisiakos, Marousi, Peristeri and Rethymno Aegean.
