Olympiacos beat Rethymno for Petros Oikonomakis tournament

Olympiacos beat Rethymno Aegean for Petros Oikonomakis friendly tournament. Olympiacos had a great day with 64% accuracy in three pointers. Rethymno Aegean had a great Faye with 15 points (4/5 three pointers), Council with 16 points and Koumpouras with 13 points (5/5 field goals). For Olympiacos Matt Lojeski had 21 points, Kostas Sloukas had 7 points and 9 assists, while Petway and Hunter dominated the rebounds.

Unics Kazan beat PAOK for Petros Oikonomakis tournament. It was the second game of the tournament that went to extra time, making it a tough tournament. PAOK was leading the score in the first half but Unics balanced the game and with a three pointer from Kostas Kaimakoglou the game went to extra time.

Rethymno Aegean beat Al Riyadi Beirut for the the first day of Petros Oikonomakis friendly tournament. The game was tight but in the extra time Fanis Koumpouras and Dejan Kravic gave their team the victory. For Al Riyadi Ibrahim Ahmad scored 19 points, Loren Woods 16 points and Brion Rush 14 points.

Rethymno Aegean, Olympiacos, PAOK and Al Riyadi Beirut will participate in Petros Oikonomakis Tournament 2014. In the previous year Petros Oikonomakis tournament hosted Panathinaikos, Panionios, Lukoil and Rethymno Aegean. Al Riyadi Beirut was chosen probably because its coach is Slobodan Subotić has a long career history in Greece. Subotić had been the coach of Olympiacos and PAOK in the past. The 4th International Friendly Tournament Petros Oikonomakis will take place between 3-5 October in Melina Merkouri basketball court in Rethymno, Greece.

Panathinaikos wins Panionios in Rethymno for Petros Oikonomakis tournament

Panathinaikos defeated Panionios by 70-55 in Rethymno for Petros Oikonomakis friendly tournament but unfortunately the highlight of the game was the fight between Diamantidis (Panathinaikos captain) and Mpatis (Panionios player). Diamantidis and Mpatis have a history from previous game and the fight they had in this game led both of them to be expelled in the halftime. Quarters' scores were 13-16, 35-24, 56-37, 70-55.

Rethymno Aegean lost from Lukoil Academic for Petros Oikonomakis tournament. After losing from Panionios in first day and from Panathinaikos in second day, Rethymno finished the tournament with three defeats. Although Rethymno Aegean was leading the score for more than 30 minutes but the Bulgarian champions Lukoil Academic managed to win the game in the end by two points. Quarters' scores were 14-16, 43-34, 63-58, 78-80

Panathinaikos defeats Rethymno Aegean for Petros Oikonomakis tournament

Panathinaikos defeated Rethymno Aegean with 83-77 for Petros Oikonomakis friendly tournament. Rethymno was ahead in score for almost 30 minutes before Argyris Pedoulakis asked the captain Dimitris Diamantidis to enter the game. Panathinaikos captain improved the ball play and defense and led the team to a victory. Quarters' scores were 20-17, 41-38, 56-58, 77-83.

Panionios lost in the end with 74-75 from Lukoil Academic in Petros Oikonomakis friendly tournament second day. Langford equalized the score 7 seconds before the end but White scored one free throw and in the remaining 2.5 seconds Panionios didn't score any points. Quarters' scores were 10-19, 30-45, 54-65, 74-75.

Panionios wins Rethymno Aegean in Petros Oikonomakis friendly tournament first game.

Panionios had a great McCollum scoring 15 points and won the game with 68-63.

Quarters' scores were 15-15, 32-28, 44-47, 63-68. This was the second time Panionios won Rethymno Aegean in friendly game for this season after winning in Artaki with 77-72

Panathinaikos, Panionios, Rethymno, Lukoil Academic friendly tournament

 AGOR (Rethymno) will organize and host Petros Oikonomakis basketball friendly tournament on 4-6 October. Besides Rethymno, Panathinaikos and Panionios will participate from Greece and Lukoil Academic from Bulgaria. Lukoil Academic will replace Aris BC who was to participate in the tournament. The team from Bulgaria recently signed Dimitris Verginis.
