Greek Cup Final 2016 Panathinaikos - Faros Keratsiniou

The team with the most Greek Cups Panathinaikos played against the newly promoted in A2 League team of Faros Keratsiniou in the Greek Basketball Cup Final 2015-2016. Panathinaikos won its 17th cup, which was its 10th in the last 12 years and 5th in a row. The final score 101-54 also set the record for the biggest difference in a Greek Cup Final, breaking the 40 points of 1987 Final between Aris and Panellinios (110-70), which was also the last time a team scored more than 100 points in the final.
This was the last cup final and last cup game for Panathinaikos' legendary captain Dimitris Diamantidis, who was named MVP of the Cup Final.

Panathinaikos beat Aris for Basket League twenty third day

Panathinaikos beat Aris for Basket League Greece 2014-2015 twenty third day. Panathinaikos did not face problems against Aris, but the game was between Nikos Pappas (17 points, 7 rebounds) and Aleksandar Vezenkov (11 points and 11 rebounds). Pasalic and Diamantidis served 4 assists each, Giankovits made 3 steals, Drew Naymick made 4 blocks. Aris collected only 3 offensive rebounds and 13 rebounds less than Panathinaikos.

Dimitris Diamantidis named MVP of Basket League Greece 2014-2015 twentieth day, for his performance against KAOD. The captain played 32 minutes and had 14 points, 4/6 free throws, 2/2 two pointers, 2/3 three pointers, collected 5 rebounds, served 10 assists, made 2 steals and 3 turnoversm, and had 7 fouls drawn.

Panathinaikos beat KAOD for Basket League Greece 2014-2015 twentieth day. Panathinaikos allowed KAOD to score 24 points in the first quarter but tight its defence and created a two digits difference. With Esteban Batista having 20 points and 8 rebounds, and Dimitris Diamantidis making a double double with 14 points and 10 assists, Panathinaikos won in Drama and now prepares for the game against Real Madrid. For KAOD its captain Thodoris Zaras had 14 points and 5 assists. KAOD had 6/23 three pointers and collected only 18 rebounds in total.

Panathinaikos beat Rethymno Aegean for Basket League Greece 2014-2015 eighteenth day. James Gist with many impressive dunaks and 19 points led Panathinaikos to an easy victory against Rethymno Aegean. Gist had 8/8 field goals and 1/2 free throws. Gani Lawal did not miss a shot and scored 8 points. For Panathinaikos Nikos Pappas scored 19 points, Dimitris Diamantidis served 8 assists, and Esteban Batista collected 6 rebounds. Batista also made 5 tunovers, out of 14 team total. For Rethymno Aegean Mouhammad Faye had 19 points and 5 rebounds, Dejan Kravic had 15 points, Roeland Schaftenaar collected 5 rebounds, and Vincent Council had 5 assists and 4 turnovers.

Armani Milano hosted and beat Panathinaikos for Euroleague. Panathinaikos made 21 turnovers and lost another away game, counting only one road victory in Euroleague 2014-2015. Panathinaikos had the chance to win the game 0.6 seconds before the end but Diamantidis missed a free throw. For the winners Daniel Hackett had 21 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists. For Panathinaikos Diamantidis had 12 points and 11 assists, James Gist had 8 points and 10 rebounds and Janis Blums had 13 points with 4/6 three pointers. Panathinaikos beat Korivos Amaliadas for Basket League eighth day. Korivos scored first with Josh Magette but Panathinaikos made a 7-0 run and took early the lead of the game. In the first quarter James Gist had 0/3 field goals but also had 5 rebounds. Panathinaikos starter the second quarter like the first, with a 6-0 run and broadened the difference to 18 points. Darrius Garrett and Julian Wright finished first half with 10 points each, while Guille Rubio and James Gist had 5 rebounds each. Korivos made 9 turnovers in the first half while Panathinaikos had 15 assists and Diamantidis made 5 of them. Korivos improved in the third quarter and allowed Panathinaikos to score only 10 points, lowering the difference to one digit score. In the last quarter Jānis Blūms with his crucial three pointers did not let the home team hope for the victory. For Panathinaikos Blūms had 16 points with 4/7 three pointers, Julian Wright had 12 points and 9 rebounds, James Gist collected 10 rebounds and Dimitris Diamantidis served 8 assists. For Korivos Darrius Garrett had 25 points, 8 rebounds and 1 block, Josh Magette had 11 points and 8 assists. All players of Korivos played gaining experience against the Greek champions.

Panathinaikos hosted and beat KAOD for Basket League seventh day. Panathinaikos did not face problems against KAOD and AJ Slaughter had a great game after time. KAOD had Eric Atkins with 18 points and 6 assists, Rob Loe with 8 points and 9 rebounds, Guy-Marc Michel had 6 rebounds and 9 rebounds. For Panathinaikos all available players played and scored. George Papagiannis debuted and scored his first two points. AJ Slaughter had 28 points with 5/8 three pointers, Dimitris Diamantidis had 11 points and 4 assists, Esteban Batista had 9 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and Julian Wright made two impressive blocks.

Barcelona hosted and beat Panathinaikos for Euroleague fifth day. Panathinaikos was not accurate in three pointers and made its second defeat in two away Euroleague games. Panathinaikos was competitive until 28-30, but Justin Doellman with 7 consecutive points gave Barcelona the lead by 43-33 and then his team rolled. Panathinaikos had a poor 2/20 three pointers and only 9 assists. For the winners Ante Tomic had 16 points and 10 rebounds, Juan Carlos Navarro and Brad Oleson had 12 points each. For Panathinaikos only Esteban Batista had more than 10 points and Diamantidis had 9 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists but 0/4 three pointers.

Panathinaikos hosted and beat Rethymno Aegean for Basket League fifth day. Rethymno Aegean finished the first quarter leading the score and troubled Panathinaikos until the end. Dimitris Diamantidis had 21 points, 5 assists, 4 steals, 3 rebounds. Esteban Batista finished the game with a double double, 13 points and 12 rebounds, plus five fouls drawn. Double double for Rethymno's Mouhammad Faye with 21 points and 13 rebounds. Vincent Council had 17 points, 5 assists and 4 rebounds, Chaisson Allen had 9 points, 8 rebounds and 8 fouls drawn. James Gist is returning to good games with 7 points, 6 assists and 5 rebounds. In his debut with Rethymno Fahro Alihodzic had 6 points, 2 assists, 1 rebound and 1 steal in 15 minutes. Panathinaikos continues undefeated in the League and Rethymno will keep the good game against the champions.

Panathinaikos started with 3/3 three pointers and Armani Milano loose defense helped the home team to build a difference and keep it. In the third quarter Panathinaikos made a 13-0 run and cleared the game. For Panathinaikos Esteban Batista had 15 points and 4 rebounds, Dimitris Diamantidis had 6 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. For Armani Milano Joe Ragland had 13 points, 7 assists and Samardo Samuels had 18 points.

Panathinaikos beat Aries Trikala for Basket League fourth day

Panathinaikos beat Aries Trikala in Trikala for Basket League fourth day. Panathinaikos took the score lead from the first quarter. In the second quarter Panathinaikos created a difference of 15 points, 23-38, but Trikala made a 13-0 run, 36-38 and managed to finish the quarter only six points behind, 42-48. Trikala had 2/11 three pointers in the first half. Steve Panos finished the first half with 11 points and Diamantidis with 12 and 3/6 three pointers. In the second half Trikala attacked and Panathinaikos was not that tight in defense so the home team approached to two points, 54-56. Blums and Fotsis with three pointers secured the game for Panathinaikos that made a 13-3 run and the difference went up to 18 points, 60-78. For Aries Trikala Steve Panos had 14 points, Christos Deligiannis had 11 points and 5 rebounds and Nate Bowie had 9 assists. Mario Matalon had 7 assists and 4 points and Slaven Čupković had 13 points. For Panathinaikos Dimitris Diamantidis had 18 points, 4 rebounds and 7 assists. Janis Blums had 12 points with 4/6 three pointers, Vlantimir Giankovits had 14 points, 6 assists and 5 rebounds, Vasilis Charalampopoulos had 7 points and 5 assists. Panathinaikos beat Fenerbahçe Ülker for Euroleague third day

Panathinaikos hosted and beat Fenerbahçe Ülker for Euroleague third day. Panathinaikos players probably felt good with  Želimir Obradović in the court even as the opponent coach and had a great day. With 31 points in the first quarter and 59 in the half time Panathinaikos was unstopable. Panathinaikos finished first half with 2 team turnovers, 10/12 three pointers and 16 assists. AJ Slaughter had 17 points with 5/7 three pointers, Esteban Batista had 14 points with 6/7 field goals and Dimitris Diamantidis with his 6 assists reached 1005 total assists in Euroleague. In the second half it was natural that Panathinaikos would not continue in such high level but still broadened the difference in the third quarter. Only in the last quarter Fenerbahce with partial score 9-16 lowered the difference to 18 points. Panathinaikos had 18/26 three pointers, 25 assists and 16 turnovers (14 in the second half). Fenerbahce Ulker with 4/21 three pointers could not compete but with only 7 turnovers didn't let the score reach record levels. AJ Slaughter had 23 points with 7/10 three pointers, Antonis Fotsis had 4/4 three pointers, Janis Blums had 3/3 three pointers and Dimitris Diamantidis had 10 assists. Dimitris Diamantis needed one assist to break the 1.000 assists milestone and is now counting 1.009 assists in Euroleague.

Dimitris Diamantidis named MVP and second best guard of the League

Dimitris Diamantidis named MVP and second best guard of the Basket League Greece 2013-2014. Diamantidis played 25 games in regular season with 7.60 points and 4.56 assists per game and improved in the play offs with 9.34 points, 4.40 assists, 2.30 rebounds and 6 fouls drawn in average per game.

Panathinaikos swept PAOK and qualified to the League Finals

Panathinaikos swept PAOK and qualified to the Basket League Greece Finals. PAOK was competitive but not as good as in the first two games that took place in Athens and Panathinaikos qualified to the finals with a sweep. Michalis Tsairelis finished the game with a double double, 11 points and 10 rebounds. DJ Cooper had 14 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. For Panathinaikos Ramel Curry and Dimitris Diamantidis finished the game with 17 points each. Roko Leni Ukic had 8 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists.

Panathinaikos beat PAOK for Greek League Play Offs semi-finals

Panathinaikos hosted and beat PAOK for Greek League Play Offs semi-finals. PAOK started as good as in the first game and was leading the score in the first half. In the 15th minute PAOK had a lead of 12 points, 20-32. In the first half Panathinaikos had only 1/13 three pointers and was following PAOK. In the third quarter Panathinaikos counter attacked and took the lead in score until the end of the game. In the second half Panathinaikos had 7/13 three pointers. For Panathinaikos James Gist had 17 points, 7 rebounds and 4 steals while Dimitris Diamantidis had 17 points, 4 assists and Roko Leni Ukić had 15 points and 5 assists. For PAOK DJ Cooper made a double double with 16 points, 12 assists, 3 steals and 2 rebounds! Kostas Charalampidis scored 17 points and  Mark Payne scored another 15 points. Panathinaikos made two tights victories against PAOK and now the third game will be held in Thessaloniki. If PAOK keeps playing in this tempo and speed we maybe see a defeat for Panathinaikos in the semi-finals after many years of clean sweeps.

Panathinaikos beat PAOK for Greek League Play Offs semi-finals

Panathinaikos hosted and beat PAOK for Greek Basket League Play Offs semi-finals. PAOK entered the game in full speed and tried to surprise Panathinaikos and steal the victory. In the first quarter PAOK scored 32 points and for three quarters the visitors were leading the score. Panathinaikos fight in order to win the game and made 1-0 in the semi-finals series. Tight victory but a victory for Panathinaikos that will probably reverse the psychology in the second game since PAOK did its best but lost the game. Loukas Mavrokefalidis was by far the best player of the game. Mavrokefalidis scored 32 points with 11 fouls drawn, collected 10 rebounds, made one block and no turnovers. This was the first time a player of Panathinaikos scored more than 30 points in a Greek Basket League game with Jaka Lakovič being the last to did so ten years ago. Besides Mavrokefalidis, the captain Dimitris Diamantidis had 17 points, 6 assists and 5 rebounds. Panathinaikos beat Apollon Patras for Greek League Play Offs

Panathinaikos beat and eliminated Apollon Patras for Greek Basket League Play Offs round one. Panathinaikos had 12 players that scored and the captain Dimitris Diamantidis had 16 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists.
