Panathinaikos beat Apollon Patras for Greek League Play Offs

Panathinaikos beat and eliminated Apollon Patras for Greek Basket League Play Offs round one. Panathinaikos had 12 players that scored and the captain Dimitris Diamantidis had 16 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists. This time Charalampopoulos was the young player of Panathinaikos that played and scored 3 points. For Apollon Patras Roland Ross had 23 points, Jeremiah Wilson had 8 rebounds but the surprise was the young Sarantis Mastrogiannopoulos who had 5 points with 1/1 triple and 2/2 free throws.

Panathinaikos beat Apollon Patras for Greek League 26th day

Panathinaikos beat Apollon Patras in Patras for Greek Basket League 26th day. In the first round game Apollon Patras troubled Panathinaikos and so it did in this game in the first half. Apollon Patras was leading the score in the first and second quarters but with 13-31 partial score in the third quarter Panathinaikos counter attacked and won the game by 16 points. Panathinaikos had an impressive 79% (26/33) two pointers while both teams were good in three pointers, 12/23 for the home team and 10/24 for the away team. For Apollon Patras Roland Ross had 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists, while Giannis Molfetas was the top scorer with 19 points and 5/5 three pointers. For Panathinaikos Stephane Lasme was perfect with 21 points, 8/8 field goals, 5/5 free throws, 4 rebounds and 7 fouls drawn. Ramel Curry scored 18 points and Loukas Mavrokefalidis scored 12 points while Roko Leni Ukić had 4 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists.

Apollon Patras beat Nea Kifisia for Greek League 24th day

Apollon Patras hosted and beat Nea Kifisia for Greek Basket League 24th day. Nea Kifisia was leading the score in the first half but Apollon Patras with good defense in the third quarter took the lead and won the game. With that victory Apollon Patras secured a place in the play offs. Apollon had only 3/17 three pointers but also made only 10 turnovers. Andreja Milutinović with 14 points were the top scorer for the winners. Jeremiah Wilson collected 12 rebounds and scored 8 points, while Roland Ross had 13 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. For Nea Kifisia Dimitris Tsaldaris and Nikos Liakopoulos were the top scorers with 14 points each. Darrius Garrett had 8 points and 9 rebounds.

KAOD lost by Apollon Patras for Greek League 23rd day

KAOD hosted Apollon Patras for Greek Basket League 23rd day. First quarter was balanced in the start but Apollon Patras finished it with a 7-0 run and 8 points lead. In the second quarter KAOD managed to lower the difference to 5 points. Julian Vaughn had 14 points and 9 rebounds in the first half while his team had 1/8 three pointers. For Apollon Patras Ross, Petrovic and Milutinovic finished first half with two digits score. Apollon Patras controlled the game in the third quarter and was leading the score by 73-59 before KAOD made its counter attack. In the end Apollon Patras won by two points in a court that many great teams have lost. Massive game by Julian Vaughn that break the ranking system with a performance rated with 42. Vaughn had 25 points, 17 rebounds, 3 blocks and 7 fouls drawn. No doubt that he will be the MVP of the day. For Apollon Patras Roland Ross had 19 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Lenny Daniel had 20 points and 6 rebounds.

Aris lost by Apollon Patras for Greek League 19th day

Aris hosted and lost by Apollon Patras for Greek Basket League 19th day. In a very tight game where both teams wanted to win in order to skip the relegation zone and approach the play offs zone the winner was Apollon Patras after one extra time. Both teams were poor in three pointers with the home team having 8/30 and visitors 5/23. Aris collected more rebounds, 44 against 39, but made 20 turnovers while visitors only 12. Vezenkov, Pelekanos and Athinaou failed to win the game in the normal time since Lenny Daniel scored only one of the two free throws he shot in the last minute. In the extra time Aris scored the first two points but with partial score 4-12 Apollon Patras got a crucial and great away victory. For Aris Giannis Athinaiou scored 19 points, Alexander Vezenkov 14 and Michalis Pelekanos 13 points. For Apollon Patras Roland Ross had 20 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, Jeremiah Wilson missed another double double with 15 points and 9 rebounds, and Lenny Daniel had 14 points and 6 rebounds. The Greek players for Apollon Patras scored only 5 points, a team that totally depends on foreign players.

Kolossos Rodou lost by Apollon Patras for Greek League 16th day

Kolossos Rodou hosted and lost byApollon Patras for Greek Basket League 16th day. Kolossos Rodou started better and was leading the score in the whole first quarter. Apollon Patras was massive in the second quarter, with partial score 18-34. With consecutive three pointers by Petrovic, Wilson and Bolds took the lead and was creating a difference. First half finished with 1/9 three pointers for Kolossos Rodou and 7/13 for Apollon Patras. Taylor Smith had 5 rebounds and 14 points with 6/6 shots and 2/2 free throws in the first half. Apollon Patras had three players with two digits score in the first half, Roland Ross, Jeremiah Wilson and Demarius Bolds. Third quarter was a balanced one and the difference of 13 points remained for the fourth quarter. In the last quarter Kolossos Rodou counter attacked and with partial score 29-18 tried to steal the victory but lost in the end. One minute before the end the score was 82-75 for Kolossos Rodou but Apollon Patras with a 9-0 run with 6 points from  Andreja Milutinović and a three pointer for Jeremiah Wilson took a great victory. Christoforos Stefanidis missed the last three pointer shot and his team lost a game that was behind in score for more than 30 minutes but was ahead by 7 points in the last minute. Double double for Taylor Smith with 23 points, 10/11 shots, 3/5 free throws, and 12 rebounds. 24 points for Angelos Tsamis whose origin is Patras. 22 points for Demarius Bolds, 18 for Jeremiah Wilson and 15 for Andreja Milutinović, 6 of those in the last minute.

Ilisiakos lost from Apollon Patras for Greek League 14th day

Ilisiakos hosted and lost from Apollon Patras for Greek Basket League 14th day. Ilisiakos took the lead in score with 10-6 but then Apollon made an 11-0 run and finished the first quarter ahead by 10 points. In the second quarter it was Ilisiakos' turn to make an 8-0 run and lower the difference of the first half to 4 points. Ilisiakos lowered the difference to two points, in the beginning of the second half, but Apollon Patras replied and the difference reached 16 points, 41-57. Apollon Patras blacked out and Ilisiakos made a 13-0 run with Antonakis, Chatzis and Anderson. In the last quarter Ilisiakos equalized the score two times but Apollon Patras with two three pointers by Wilson and Bolds was keeping the lead. Great victory for Apollon Patras that had 11/24 three pointers. Ilisiakos was bad in three pointers 5/23 but had 24/28 free throws and 43 rebounds. Cheikh Mbodj made his first double double with 13 points (9/12 free throws) and 14 rebounds. Kevin Anderson had 24 points and 6 rebounds. For Apollon Patras Jeremiah Wilson had 17 points. Demarius Bolds 15 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals. The new players of Apollon Patras were good with Roland Ross having 15 points, 5 assists and Andreja Milutinović 7 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists.

Panathinaikos defeated Apollon Patras for Greek League 13th day

Panathinaikos hosted and defeated Apollon Patras for Greek League 13th day. This was the last game for the first round of Greek Basket League and Panathinaikos hosted Apollon Patras without fans. Panathinaikos had won easily Apollon Patras in a friendly game earlier in this season and had a total 22-2 record against Apollon Patras. Apollon Patras' newest addition Roland Ross helped his team to lead the score in the first quarter. Panathinaikos counter attacked in the second quarter and with partial score 21-9 finished the first half leading the score by 9 points. In the first half nine different players scored for Panathinaikos. Roland Ross scored first in the second half but Panathinaikos made a 10-0 run and the difference went up to 20 points. Apollon Patras managed to finish the third quarter only 5 points behind, taking advantage of the many turnovers that Panathinaikos made. In the last quarter Jeremiah Wilson with a three pointer lowered the difference to two points and set the game on fire. Mike Bramos and Antonis Fotsis scored 5 points helping their team making a break. In a nervous game for Panathinaikos with many turnovers, Diamantidis was charged with a technical foul in the last minute and Apollon Patras approached again to 5 points, before Mike Bramos scoring a three pointer. Panathinaikos won Apollon Patras by 8 points in a good game for Apollon Patras. It was a tight game with 25/31 free throws for Panathinaikos and 17/22 for Apollon Patras, with 22 and 27 fouls made respectively. Stephane Lasme was the top scorer for Panathinaikos with 16 points and 7 rebounds. Jonas Mačiulis had 9 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Jeremiah Wilson was the top scorer for Apollon Patras with a double double, 16 points and 12 rebounds. Demarius Bolds scored 12 points and Roland Ross in his debut with the team scored 14 points.

Apollon Patras signed Ronald Ross

Apollon Patras signed Ronald Ross. The 30 years old American was playing in Croatia for Jolly Jadranska Banka Sibenik. Ross had previously played in Germany for MBC,Art Dragons and Ludwisburg and in Israel for Maccabi Haifa and BC Habikaa. Ross will probably replace Paul Hill Junior who was signed to replace Joseph Taylor. Ross will be in Patras on Thursday and will be available to play against Panathinaikos for Greek Basket League day 13.
