Panathinaikos released Mačiulis, Lasme, Bramos, Curry and Ping

Panathinaikos BC announced that the club used the option out in the contracts of Jonas Mačiulis, Stephane Lasme, Mike Bramos, Ramel Curry and Shang Ping. Those five players are now released from the club and are free to negotiate with other teams. Shang Ping was long ago out of the team plans but anyway he became the first Chinese player to win the Greek Championship and the Greek Cup. Panathinaikos may start negotiations with Mike Bramos but not with the rest four players.

CSKA beat Panathinaikos in overtime for Euroleague Play Offs round 1

CSKA Moscow hosted and beat Panathinaikos Athens for Euroleague Play Offs round 1. The home team was leading the game in the first half but Panathinaikos balanced the game and took the lead in the last quarter. Panathinaikos couldn't win the game and Diamantidis didn't score in the last offense so the game went to over time. In over time Panathinaikos didn't score again in the last offense and lost a tight game and the chance to break CSKA's advantage.

Panathinaikos defeated Anadolu Efes in Istanbul for Euroleague Top 16. With Fragiskos Alvertis debuting as coach Panathinaikos managed to win a very tight game where the score was 60-65 after one extra time. In a game where both teams had Greek coaches the defense was the key. Anadolu Efes seemed to control the game and win in the end but Jonas Mačiulis scored a very crucial three pointer 14 seconds before the end and equalized the score leading the game to extra time. Zoran Planinic with 15 points and Antonis Fotsis with 14 points were the top scorers of their teams. Stephane Lasme made a double double with 11 points and 12 rebounds.

Panionios hosted Panathinaikos for Greek Basket League 19th day. Panionios had a period of bad games and Panathinaikos was coming after a great victory against Olympiacos for Euroleague. Panathinaikos' coach Argyris Pedoulakis used 11 players and shared the game time. For another game Errick McCollum was the top scorer and leader of Panionios with 27 points, 7 assists, 7 fouls drawn and 3 steals. Marc Carter added 10 points and 7 rebounds. Panathinaikos smashed Aris with 90-53 for the Greek Cup Final 2014. Aris was competitive only in the first half. First half finished with equal score for the two teams but in the second half Panathinaikos made a 15-0 run and cleared the game. Ramel Curry was the top scorer for Panathinaikos with 17 points but Jonas Mačiulis with his three pointers and Dimitris Diamantidis with his guidance helped their team win the game in the third quarter. For Aris Lefteris Bochoridis was the top scorer with Giannis Athinaiou, Alexander Vezenkov and Michalis Pelekanos helping in score mainly in the first half. This was the fiftteenth and third consecutive Greek Cup for Panathinaikos. Aris remains with 8 Greek Cup wins.

Panathinaikos beat KAOD in extra time for Greek League 17th day. KAOD had defeated Panathinaikos in the previous season and Olympiacos in this season in Drama. The team from Drama was close to a second victory against Panathinaikos in Drama but Julian Vaughn missed a free throw 0.2 seconds before the end and the game went to extra time were Panathinaikos won by two. For Panathinaikos Dimitris Diamantidis and Jonas Mačiulis scored 18 points each, with the captain having 5 rebounds and 5 assists too. Stephane Lasme made a double double with 14 points and 11 rebounds but he also had 5 turnovers. For KAOD J'Covan Brown scored 27 points with 6/8 three pointers and 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals. Lazeric Jones had 23 points, 5 assists and 6 steals.

Panathinaikos defeated Apollon Patras for Greek League 13th day

Panathinaikos hosted and defeated Apollon Patras for Greek League 13th day. This was the last game for the first round of Greek Basket League and Panathinaikos hosted Apollon Patras without fans. Panathinaikos had won easily Apollon Patras in a friendly game earlier in this season and had a total 22-2 record against Apollon Patras. Apollon Patras' newest addition Roland Ross helped his team to lead the score in the first quarter. Panathinaikos counter attacked in the second quarter and with partial score 21-9 finished the first half leading the score by 9 points. In the first half nine different players scored for Panathinaikos. Roland Ross scored first in the second half but Panathinaikos made a 10-0 run and the difference went up to 20 points. Apollon Patras managed to finish the third quarter only 5 points behind, taking advantage of the many turnovers that Panathinaikos made. In the last quarter Jeremiah Wilson with a three pointer lowered the difference to two points and set the game on fire. Mike Bramos and Antonis Fotsis scored 5 points helping their team making a break. In a nervous game for Panathinaikos with many turnovers, Diamantidis was charged with a technical foul in the last minute and Apollon Patras approached again to 5 points, before Mike Bramos scoring a three pointer. Panathinaikos won Apollon Patras by 8 points in a good game for Apollon Patras. It was a tight game with 25/31 free throws for Panathinaikos and 17/22 for Apollon Patras, with 22 and 27 fouls made respectively. Stephane Lasme was the top scorer for Panathinaikos with 16 points and 7 rebounds. Jonas Mačiulis had 9 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Jeremiah Wilson was the top scorer for Apollon Patras with a double double, 16 points and 12 rebounds. Demarius Bolds scored 12 points and Roland Ross in his debut with the team scored 14 points.

Panathinaikos hosted and defeated Lietuvos Rytas for Euroleague. This was the first home game in Athens, Greece for Panathinaikos, after playing the first two games in Heraklion and Nicosia. Lietuvos Rytas had defeated Panathinaikos in the first round and played well but couldn't win second time. Jonas Mačiulis was great again against the team from Lithuania. James Gist was the leader of Panathinaikos with 24 points, 6 rebounds and 5 steals. For Lietuvos Jelovac scored 19 points and Gecevicius 17 points while Cook, Glyniadakis and Songaila didn't contribute much to the game.

Panathinaikos lost by Lietuvos Rytas at Euroleague day one

Lietuvos Rytas hosted and defeated Panathinaioks in Vilnius, Lithuania for the first day of Euroleague 2013-2014. Two players of Lietuvos Rytas have previously played for Panathinaikos, Andreas Glyniadakis and Milenko Tepić. Mike Bramos stayed back in Athens. Lietuvos was the last team to participate in Euroleague after qualification games and during preparation won Aris. Gist scored the first points for Panathinaikos and was the main scored for his team in the first quarter. Lietuvos led the score by scoring three points and free throws and created a difference of six points 17-11. Panathinaikos than ran a 8-0 score with Ukić and Mavrokefalidis. The Greek center had a good first quarter in offense and defense. Panathinaikos low accuracy in three points and Lietuvos Rytas just one turnover were the stat highlights of the quarter. Mike Batiste reached 10 points, Ukić 4 assists while Omar Cook had 8 points and 4 assists in the first half. The third quarter started from zero. Panathinaikos didn't improve its accuracy and turnovers so Lietuvos Rytas gained a small difference of 4 points in the first five minutes of the third quarter but Panathinaikos managed to finish the quarter leading the score. Dimitris Diamantidis had 1/7 three points shots, 0/2 free throws but on the other hand he served 7 assists and scored 4 points in the last 20 seconds, leading the game to extra time. Andreas Glyniadakis made 3 fouls and 1 block in seven minutes but didn't score. Seibutis had a weird game with 4/4 three points shots and 2/7 two points shots. In the extra time Panathinaikos ran a quick 4-0 with Mačiulis and Ukić. But then Lietuvos Rytas ran a 6-0 with Babrauskas scoring 5 points and Darius Songaila scoring one free throw but missing three in a row. 21 seconds before the end Gist with a dunk made the score 82-83. Renaldas Seibutis scored 5.5 seconds before the end and the score changed to 84-83. Argyris Pedoulakis called a time out for Panathinaikos' last offense of 5 seconds. Ukić missed a three points shot and the ball was out for Panathinaikos at 0.4 seconds. Mike Batiste lost the last shot and Panathinaikos lost the game by 84-83.

Panathinaikos defeats Rethymno Aegean for Petros Oikonomakis tournament

Panathinaikos defeated Rethymno Aegean with 83-77 for Petros Oikonomakis friendly tournament. Rethymno was ahead in score for almost 30 minutes before Argyris Pedoulakis asked the captain Dimitris Diamantidis to enter the game. Panathinaikos captain improved the ball play and defense and led the team to a victory. Quarters' scores were 20-17, 41-38, 56-58, 77-83.

Giannakopoulos: "Panathinaikos has a complete roster"

Dimitris Giannakopoulos, president and owner of Panathinaikos BC, announced that the roster of the team is complete after contract renewal of Jonas Mačiulis and the addition of Shang Ping.

Giannakopoulos said that Mačiulis renewed his contract for two years and the team is waiting the letter of clearance for Chinese player Shang Ping. Panathinaikos added four national Greek players, Vladimir Yankovic and Nikos Pappas both from Panionios BC, Loukas Mavrokefalidis from Barcelona and Antonis Fotsis who returned after a year in Milano.

Giannakopoulos asked Panathinaikos fans to show their support by buying season tickets.
