Lojeski, Mavroeidis and Kemp named MVPs of Basket League first day

Matt Lojeski, Dimitris Mavroeidis and Maurice Kemp named MVPs of Basket League Greece 2015-2016 first day. 
Lojeski scored 20 points, 5/6 free throws, 3/3 two pointers and 3/5 three pointers, collected 6 rebounds and served 3 assists in 24 minutes.
Mavroeidis scored 14 points (5/6 ft, 3/3 2p, 3/5 3p), collected 6 rebounds and served 3 assists in 24 minutes.
Kemp scored 15 points (1/2 ft, 7/11 2p), collected 8 rebounds, served one assist and made two blocks and one steal in 33 minutes.

Korivos Amaliadas beat AEK for Basket League first day

Korivos Amaliadas hosted and defeated AEK for Basket League first day. It was the game between the two newly promoted teams from A2 League but Korivos Amaliadas was playing home and AEK was most experienced team in A1 League. For Korivos Amaliadas, who celebrated its first victory in the Basket League, Rob Lowery scored 18 points, Darrius Garett had 9 points and 8 rebounds, Josh Maggete 10 points and 5 assists. Milan Milošević who recently signed with AEK started the new season with a double double with 16 points and 11 rebounds, also Ziris Sarikopoulos made a double double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Olympiacos wins Unicaja Malaga for Euroleague premiere

Olympiacos Piraeus, the Euroleague back to back champions, hosted and defeated Unicaja Malaga for the first day of Euroleague 2013-2014. Starting five for Olympiacos Spanoulis, Perperoglou, Simmons, Printezis, Mantzaris. Starting five for Unicaja Malaga Suarez, Granger, Dragic, Hettsheimeir, Caner-Medley. Giorgos Printezis scored the first points of the Greek team. Jayson Granger started the game with an unsportsmanlike foul on Vasilis Spanoulis. Unicaja Malaga ran a 8-0 score and from 6-6 led the game to 6-14. Dragic and Hettsheimeir had a good first quarter but then the second disappeared. Sloukas and Spanoulis with three pointers finished the first quarter with score 18-22. Unicaja Malaga was leading the score for 30 minutes but when the fourth quarter started Olympiacos had a burst and in the end won the game by 8 points, 69-61. Statistics highlights the 21 assists of Olympiacos and the fact that both teams had better accuracy in three pointers than two points shots. Quarters' scores: 18-22, 26-33, 44-45, 69-61

Panathinaikos lost by Lietuvos Rytas at Euroleague day one

Lietuvos Rytas hosted and defeated Panathinaioks in Vilnius, Lithuania for the first day of Euroleague 2013-2014. Two players of Lietuvos Rytas have previously played for Panathinaikos, Andreas Glyniadakis and Milenko Tepić. Mike Bramos stayed back in Athens. Lietuvos was the last team to participate in Euroleague after qualification games and during preparation won Aris. Gist scored the first points for Panathinaikos and was the main scored for his team in the first quarter. Lietuvos led the score by scoring three points and free throws and created a difference of six points 17-11. Panathinaikos than ran a 8-0 score with Ukić and Mavrokefalidis. The Greek center had a good first quarter in offense and defense. Panathinaikos low accuracy in three points and Lietuvos Rytas just one turnover were the stat highlights of the quarter. Mike Batiste reached 10 points, Ukić 4 assists while Omar Cook had 8 points and 4 assists in the first half. The third quarter started from zero. Panathinaikos didn't improve its accuracy and turnovers so Lietuvos Rytas gained a small difference of 4 points in the first five minutes of the third quarter but Panathinaikos managed to finish the quarter leading the score. Dimitris Diamantidis had 1/7 three points shots, 0/2 free throws but on the other hand he served 7 assists and scored 4 points in the last 20 seconds, leading the game to extra time. Andreas Glyniadakis made 3 fouls and 1 block in seven minutes but didn't score. Seibutis had a weird game with 4/4 three points shots and 2/7 two points shots. In the extra time Panathinaikos ran a quick 4-0 with Mačiulis and Ukić. But then Lietuvos Rytas ran a 6-0 with Babrauskas scoring 5 points and Darius Songaila scoring one free throw but missing three in a row. 21 seconds before the end Gist with a dunk made the score 82-83. Renaldas Seibutis scored 5.5 seconds before the end and the score changed to 84-83. Argyris Pedoulakis called a time out for Panathinaikos' last offense of 5 seconds. Ukić missed a three points shot and the ball was out for Panathinaikos at 0.4 seconds. Mike Batiste lost the last shot and Panathinaikos lost the game by 84-83.

Gabe Pruitt named MVP of the first day of the Greek Basketball League. Pruitt got the highest score in ranking with 29 after scoring 20 points, serving 8 assists, collecting 4 rebounds and making 3 steals against Ikaros Chalkidas.

Greek Basketball League first day highlights

Giorgos Bogris and Kenny Gabriel who made a double double. Kenny Gabriel scored 13 points and collected 11 rebounds, while Giorgos Bogris scored 14 points and collected 11 rebounds. Kostas Charalampidis, who scored 26 points for PAOK against Kolossos Rodou. The lowest score from all seven games of the first day was between Olympiacos and Panathinaikos where the two teams scored 100 points in total. On the contrary PAOK and Kolossos Rodou scored 169 points in total. Rethymno Aegean has the player with the highest ranking, Gabe Pruitt with 29, and the fourth highest ranking, Kenny Gabriel with 22. PAOK has Bogris and Charalampidis who were ranked 3rd and 5th. Panionios' Errick McCollum is the player with the second highest ranking and second in points scored.

Apollon Patras wins Ilisiakos for the first day of Greek Basketball League 2013-2014

Apollon Patras hosted and defeated Ilisiakos with 80-65 for the first day of Greek Basketball League 2013-2014. Trepalovac scored the first points of Apollon Patra who ran a 7-0 score before Ilisiakos replied with its own rally at 9-7. First quarter finished with Apollon Patras ahead by 23-16. Apollon scored 4 three points shots in first and had 75% 2-points shots accuracy. Half-time found the host team ahead by 12 points, 47-35. Apollon had 100% accuracy in free throws, 61% in two points shots and 46% in three points shots, which accuracy made the difference since most statistics were balanced. Quarters' scores 26-16, 47-35, 63-49, 80-65.

Panelefsiniakos lost by Panionios for the first day of Greek Basketball League 2013-2014

Panelefsiniakos hosted and lost by Panionios for the first day of the Greek Basketball League 2013-2014. Athanasoulas scored the first points for Panionios with a 3-points shot and Faye replied with the first two points for Panelefsiniakos. First quarter finished with 19-19 score and Faye with Mantzaris having scored 6 points for Panelefsiniakos while for Panionios McCollum, Duvnjak and Kavvadas had 4 points each. McCollum reached 10 points in the second quarter and Panionios was ahead by 25-31. Mantzaris also reached 10 points for Panelefsiniakos and the halftime score was 41-38. In the first half Panelefsiniakos dominated rebounds with 21 (12-9) against 8 of Panionios (5-3). Third quarter was as competitive as the previous one with the teams being in short distance. Panionios collected 11 rebounds, 3 more than in the whole half time. Both teams had poor accuracy in three points, around 25% each, making it a tough game. Third quarter score was 57-56, so both teams entered last quarter from equal basis. In the fourth quarter Panionios ran a 4-0 score and turned the score to 57-60 9 minutes before the end. Batis and Duvnjak gave Panionios a five point lead 4 minutes before the end. Batis and Papamakarios then had a verbal fight so they were both charged with technical foul and then the first scored once more making the score 62-69. Batis was the man for Panionios in the last quarter. Panelefsiniakos tried with three points shots in the end to win the game but 25% accuracy it wasn't that easy. McCollum scored two points, Faye two free throws but then Nikou made a steal 30 seconds before the end and scored a three points shot 15 seconds before the end and the game was still on. Batis scored only one out of two free throws, Nikou also missed one free throw and the last three points shot. After all Panionios defeated Panelefsiniakos by two points, 72-74, in a great game that keep the fans excited till the end. Panionios scoring stability is something to remember with the team scoring 19, 19, 18, 18 points in each quarter. Quarters' scores: 19-19, 41-38, 57-56, 72-74.

Rethymno Aegean wins Ikaros Chalkidas for the first day of Greek Basketball League

Rethymno Aegean wins Ikaros Chalkidas for the first day of Greek Basketball League 2013-2014. Rethymno started the game with a 9-0 rally since Ikaros started with 0/3 shoots. First quarter finished with score 25-15 and Hurtt having scored 12 points already. In the second quarter Ikaros Chalkidas ran a 2-7 rally but Rethymno was successful in 7/17 three points shots. First half ended with score 45-34 with Hurtt scoring 15 points and Pruitt and Gabriel 9 points each. For Ikaros Chalkidas Borovnjak finished first half with 10 points.Then it was time for Darrin Govens to score and equalize the score 55-55 for the first time in 25' and then Ivan Aska scored for the first time Ikaros was ahead in score with 56-57. Third quarter ended with Rethymno Aegean again ahead in score but by just three points 62-59. Ikaros was following in score in the last quarter but could not change much so Rethymno Aegean starts the Basketball League 2013-2014 with a victory against Ikaros Chalkidas by 82-77. Kenny Gabriel had a double double for Rethymno, scoring 13 points and collecting 11 rebounds. Quarters' scores: 25-15, 45-43, 62-59, 82-77.

Aris wins KAOD for the first day of Greek Basketball League

Aris wins KAOD in Drama with 66-58 for the first day of the Greek Basketball League 2013-2014. KAOD started the game more prepared than Aris with Chrisikopoulos in a great day but Aris defense tightened in the last quarter. Quarters' scores 18-17, 33-28, 45-48, 58-66.

Greek basketball league 2013-2014 first day

 Greek basketball league OPAP 2013-2014 first day arrived and this weekend the action will begin. The big match between Olympiacos and Panathinaikos will take place on Monday without fans. Panathinaikos and Olympiacos had easy games for the Greek cup but both of teams have some injured players that they cannot count on. The first game of the new season will be hosted in Thessaloniki where PAOK BC will host Kolossos Rodou. PAOK has hosted the team from Rodos 7 times and won all of them. On the same time Aries Trikala will host AE Nea Kifisia and KAOD will host Aris BC in Drama. Aris BC won the big rival PAOK for the Greek cup and has already won KAOD in friendly game during preparation. On Sunday Rethymno Aegean will host Ikaros Chalkidas, Apollon Patras will host Ilisiakos and Panelefsiniakos will host Panionios. Rethymno Aegean and Ikaros Chalkidas have played a friendly game where the team from Crete won. Ilisiakos hosted and won Apollon Patras for the Greek cup, but this time the host team is Apollon and the game for the league. Apollon Patras had some difficulties in the beginning of the previous season and this will be a risky premiere. Panionios will play against Panelefsiniakos for the first time in this season with the team from Nea Smyrni to have a better team while Panelefsiniakos has signed some good players like Papamakarios and Raley Ross.

Olympiacos will host Panathinaikos without fans in Greek Basketball League Premiere

Olympiacos will host Panathinaikos in the first day of the Greek Basketball League OPAP 2013-2014.
Olympiacos carries a penalty from last season finals so the Euroleague champions will host Greek champions without fans.
