Promitheas signed Georgios Bogris


Promitheas signed Georgios Bogris. The 30-year-old Greek center penned a three-year contract with the club. Bogris parted ways earlier this month with Olympiacos after spending two seasons with the club. Bogris started his career with Ilisiakos and has also played for Panathinaikos, Peristeri, Aris, Panionios, PAOK in Greece and Andorra, Bilbao Basket, and Iberostar Tenerife in Spain.

Olympiacos and Georgios Bogris parted ways

Olympiacos and Georgios Bogris parted ways. The 30-years-old Greek center joined Olympiacos in 2017 with a two years contract with the renewal option on the club side. In the last season Bogris played 24 games in Euroleague, averaging 1.7 points and 0.8 rebounds per game as part of the team rotation.

Vasilis Xanthopoulos turned down Andorra

The Greek player had an offer by Bàsquet Club MoraBanc Andorra to replace the injured Victor Sada but he preferred to stay in Panionios. The team approached Xanthopoulos since he is experienced in the Spanish ACB Liga with Obradoiro and would have another Greek (Giorgos Bogris) in the team.

MoraBanc Andorra signed Giorgos Bogris

Bàsquet Club MoraBanc Andorra signed Giorgos Bogris. Bogris had a great season with PAOK with 9.44 points and 6.44 rebounds per game in 34 games and he was named most improved player of the Basket League Greece 2013-14. Bogris made two double doubles in the League, one against Kolossos Rodou with 14 points and 11 rebounds and another one against Aries Trikala with 17 points and 14 rebounds.

Basket League Greece 2013-2014 most improved player Giorgos Bogris. Two players of PAOK were named as the two most improved players of Basket League Greece 2013-2014, Giorgos Bogris and Michalis Tsairelis. Bogris played 25 games with PAOK and had 10.72 points and 6.8 rebounds per game in average.

Panathinaikos beat PAOK for Greek League Play Offs semi-finals

Panathinaikos hosted and beat PAOK for Greek Basket League Play Offs semi-finals. PAOK entered the game in full speed and tried to surprise Panathinaikos and steal the victory. In the first quarter PAOK scored 32 points and for three quarters the visitors were leading the score. Panathinaikos fight in order to win the game and made 1-0 in the semi-finals series. Tight victory but a victory for Panathinaikos that will probably reverse the psychology in the second game since PAOK did its best but lost the game. Loukas Mavrokefalidis was by far the best player of the game. Mavrokefalidis scored 32 points with 11 fouls drawn, collected 10 rebounds, made one block and no turnovers. This was the first time a player of Panathinaikos scored more than 30 points in a Greek Basket League game with Jaka Lakovič being the last to did so ten years ago. Besides Mavrokefalidis, the captain Dimitris Diamantidis had 17 points, 6 assists and 5 rebounds. For PAOK Giorgos Bogris, DJ Cooper, Michalis Tsairelis, Kostas Charalampidis and Mark Payne scored more than 13 points each with Bogris also having 9 rebounds and 4 assists and DJ Cooper having 5 rebounds and 5 assists too.

PAOK lost by Panathinaikos for Greek League 24th day

PAOK lost by Panathinaikos for Greek Basket League 24th day. With that victory Panathinaikos secured the first place in the regular season again after three years. Panathinaikos had only 4/17 three pointers, while PAOK had 10/21 three pointers, but the visitors were impressive in field goals with 30/43. Another highlight is that Panathinaikos finished the game with 10/10 free throws, Lasme and Wright had 4/4 free throws each and Ukic had 2/2. PAOK could only follow Panathinaikos in the first half. For the home team Giorgos Bogris was the top scorer and player with 14 points and 5 rebounds. DJ Cooper had 9 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Besides Bogris the other two players of PAOK with two digits score were Greek, Michalis Tsairelis and Vangelis Margaritis. For Panathinaikos Stephane Lasme was the top scorer with 20 points, Dimitris Diamantidis had 10 points and 7 assists, Loukas Mavrokefalidis had 10 points without missing a shot (5/5 field goals) and 5 rebounds.

PAOK beat Aries Trikala for Greek League 20th day

PAOK hosted and beat Aries Trikala for Greek Basket League 20th day. PAOK had a great first quarter when the score was 21-8 in 8th minute and preserved the difference till the end of the game. Although PAOK was very poor in three pointers, only 2/18, with 15 rebounds more and 36/40 free throws managed to win the game. Impressive number of fouls drawn and free throws shot for PAOK. Giorgos Bogris made a double double after weeks with 17 points and 14 rebounds. DJ Cooper had 5 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Kostas Charalampidis was the top scorer of PAOK with 19 points, 12/12 free throws. Chris Evans has 16 points and 5 steals for Aries Trikala. Patrick Ewing Junior, Stefan Perunicic and Marios Matalon had two digit score too.

PAOK defeated Rethymno Aegean for Greek League 16th day

PAOK hosted and defeated Rethymno Aegean for Greek Basket League 16th day. Rethymno Aegean started the game more offensive than PAOK and with Kalampokis, Koumpouras and Wright took the lead. PAOK managed to counter attack and took the lead for the rest of the game. PAOK was better in three pointers, 11/20 while Rethymno Aegean had only 6/19. Giorgos Bogris had 15 points and 7 rebounds, Mark Payne 12 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists, and DJ Cooper 7 points and 5 assists. For Rethymno Aegean Derek Wright scored 31 points, Giannis Kalampokis 21 points and Callistus Eziukwu 20 points.

PAOK defeated Aris for Greek League 15th day

PAOK hosted and defeated Aris for Greek Basket League 15th day. Aris started the game with 3 points but PAOK replied with a 14-0 run and made the score 16-3. First quarter finished with 4 consecutive points from Asimakopoulos and PAOK ahead by 9 points, 20-11. PAOK had 4/8 three pointers in the first quarter, while Aris had 0/4. Second quarter started with Michalis Tsairelis making it a double score for his team, 22-11. In the 15th minute Asimakopoulos scored the first three pointer for Aris and made the score 27-18. Aris approached PAOK to 7 points, 29-22, PAOK reacted and the difference went back to two digits, 34-22. Mourtos scored the second three pointer of Aris and the first half ended with Aris behind in score by 9 points. DJ Cooper had 9 points, 4 assists and Michalis Tsairelis 9 points and 3 rebounds in the first half. Aris started improved in the second half and with Mourtos was keeping the difference below 9 points. PAOK started missing three pointers and Aris started scoring them. With two consecutive three pointers Aris lowered the difference to 4 points, 39-35, and to one point, 39-38. Third quarter finished with another three pointer for Aris with Alexander Vezenkov, that made the score 43-41. In the fourth quarter both teams were nervous. Aris approached again to two points, 45-43. Tsochlas scored for PAOK but then there was a tension between the players of both teams. PAOK's bench and Lefteris Tsakaleris from Aris were charged with one technical foul each. Fans threw a firework, game was stopped and Aris' players left the court. Referees asked fans to evacuate PAOK Sports Arena in order to continue the game. After the evacuation Aris couldn't manage to follow PAOK and the last quarter gave the home team a great victory with score 56-49. Michalis Tsairelis was the top scorer of PAOK with 13 points. Giorgos Bogris collected 10 rebounds and DJ Cooper had 6 rebounds and 7 assists.

PAOK defeated Ilisiakos for Greek League twelfth day

PAOK hosted and defeated Ilisiakos for Greek League twelfth day. Ilisiakos started the game with good tempo and led the score by 15-17 and was following PAOK in the first half. In the second half Ilisiakos scored 7 points in the third and 10 in the fourth quarter and lost the game with a broad difference. PAOK collected 51 rebounds in total and made only 9 turnovers. DJ Cooper finished the game with 10 assists in 23 minutes. Mark Payne scored 22 points and collected 9 rebounds, missing a double double. PAOK used all its 12 players and all players scored at least 2 points, great team play. Ilisiakos also used all of the players available and all of them but one, Fakopoulidis, scored.

PAOK lost by Panionios for Greek League tenth day

PAOK hosted Panionios for Greek League tenth day. This was the highlight game of the day between the two teams that play in Eurocup and are in the top places of the table. Panionios started the game with full attack and tight defense. With 4/6 three pointers and 5/8 two pointers in the first quarter Panionios was leading the score with double score, 13-26. In the first half Panionios continued where it stopped in the Eurocup. The Americans of Panionios, Errick McCollum, Landon Milbourne and Carter were leading their team to a great victory. PAOK tried to return into the game but Panionios was unstoppable. Panionios reached 100 points with very precise shots, 23/30 two pointers against 15/33 of PAOK. With this victory Panionios left PAOK two points behind in the League table. Great victory for the team from Athens that showed great skills. For PAOK DJ Cooper was once more the top scorer (22 points, 6 assists) and Giorgos Bogris followed. Errick McCollum scored 26 points with 5/6 three pointers and 7/7 free throws.

PAOK defeated KAOD for Greek League eighth day

PAOK hosted and defeated KAOD for Greek Basketball League eighth day. PAOK started the game influenced by the defeat by Aries Trikala. First quarter finished with an equal score and the halftime finished with KAOD leading the score by one point. PAOK counter attacked in the third quarter, which is usually the crucial quarter for the team. In the end PAOK defeated KAOD with a wide difference. DJ Cooper was the leading scorer for PAOK with 19 points and Giorgos Bogris scored 10 points and collected 9 rebounds, missing another double double. For KAOD Julian Vaughn scored 18 points and collected 7 rebounds.

PAOK defeated Alba Fehervar for Eurocup

 PAOK Thessaloniki hosted and defeated Alba Fehervar for Eurocup. PAOK defeated Alba Fehervar by one point in Hungary. First quarter was almost equal like the game in Hungary. PAOK finished the first half with 11 points difference but in the third quarter Alba Fehervar lowered it to 7 points. The fourth quarter was another tough last quarter for PAOK, with the Hungarian team approaching to 3 points one minute before the end, 65-62, and to two points 66-64 in the last seconds. PAOK took another last minute victory in a game that was controlling. DJ Cooper and Kostas Charalampidis were successful in free throws. PAOK seems tired from consecutive games and long trips but manages to win the games even by couple points in the end.

Buducnost lost from PAOK for Eurocup

Budućnost Voli Podgorica hosted PAOK for Eurocup. In the first game PAOK defeated Budućnost Voli with a three pointer buzzer beater by DJ Cooper. PAOK has 200 fans to support the team.
 PAOK started better the game and took the lead from the first quarter. The game was interrupted in the 11th minute because home fans threw fireworks at PAOK's bench. This interruption helped Budućnost to balance the game and the half time finished almost equal. The third quarter was crucial when PAOK created again a difference of 10 points, that kept until the end. In the last minute Budućnost approached PAOK to four points but DJ Cooper scored another crucial three pointer and Charalampidis didn't miss the free throws, so PAOK won the game. Jeleel Akindele had 10 rebounds but only 8 points. Giorgos Bogris scored 17 points and Kostas Charalampidis 21 points. This was the fourth victory for PAOK for the Eurocup.

Rethymno Aegean lost by PAOK for the third day

Rethymno Aegean hosted and lost by PAOK for the third day of Greek Basketball League 2013-2014. Both teams started the season with two victories and were leading the league table. PAOK flight from Hungary, where the team played for Eurocup, directly to Rethymno. Apollon Tsochlas played against his previous team. PAOK started the game with a four points and finished the first quarter with 12-17. Second quarter started the same but 5 minutes before the half time Rethymno Aegean ran a 10-0 rally and took the lead by 4. DJ Cooper three pointers made the first half score 35-33 for Rethymno. In the second half PAOK ran an 8-0 rally and took the lead again, until the end. With consecutive three pointers from DJ Cooper, Mark Payne and Charalampidis PAOK was ahead by 13 points. Final score was 64-81 for PAOK as a result to its offensive play in the last two quarters. Kenny Gabriel made his third double double (10 points, 11 rebounds) in a row, even if his team lost, and now we have to search for the double double records.

PAOK defeats Aris for the Basketball League Greece

Aris and PAOK have played earlier in this season for the Greek Cup, where Aris eliminated PAOK. For the Basketball League second day Aris hosted PAOK who played without Mark Payne. Starting five for Aris were Bochoridis, Athinaiou, Pelekanos, Vezenkov and Charisis. Starting five for PAOK DJ Cooper, Charalampidis, Kaselakis, Tsairelis and Bogris. Charalampidis scored the first points of the game and Bochoridis replied with two points for Aris. Bogris was charged with offensive foul and then with a technical foul, which was an early foul problem for PAOK First quarter finished with score 20-17 for Aris. On 26' Pelekanos scored five points in a row, became the first player to reach 10 points with perfect stats and kept the difference for Aris in 5 points. Four points from Bochoridis made the score in the half time 38-28. Eight points difference for Aris who managed to keep Charalampidis to 7 points and DJ Cooper to 1 assist in the first half. Aris had 5/5 fastbreaks in the first half and 4 steals. Aris added four points to its difference in every quarter. In the second half PAOK started with a 11-0 and took the lead in the score. Giorgos Bogris was unstoppable in the third quarter scoring 12 points and making 2 blocks. Athinaiou with two three pointers gave the lead to Aris and DJ Cooper with one three pointer back to PAOK. Last quarter was more balanced with Aris trying to reach the score and PAOK escaping with either Bogris or Cooper. In the last two minutes both team were missing all shots, before Aris makes a 5-0 rally, taking the lead by three points 45 seconds before the end. DJ Cooper scored another three pointer in the last minutes and led the game to extra time, since Asimakopoulos missed the last shot. Another crucial three pointer by DJ Cooper for PAOK. Athinaiou started the extra time with a three pointer and Charalampidis replied. After two minutes Tsairelis scored two free throws and Bogris with a shot gave PAOK four points lead. Athinaiou scored for Aris, Tsairelis was accurate in free throws and PAOK defeated Aris by 4, 75-79. Bogris didn't make another double double but scored 21 points and got 8 rebounds. Tsairelis almost did it with 13 points and 9 rebounds. DJ Cooper served just 3 assists but scored 15 points and the crucial three pointer. Pelekanos and Athinaiou ware once more Aris' leader with 19 and 17 points.
