Bolds and Ewing meet in Al Rayyan Doha

Two of the best foreign players of the Basket League Greece 2013-2014, Demarius Bolds and Patrick Ewing Jr. are now teammates in Al Rayyan Doha of Qatar. Bolds had a great season with Apollon Patras (1st in steals) and started this season in Iraq for Nift Al-Janoub. Ewing had a great season in Aries Trikala (5th in rebounds and 4th in rating) and continued this season in Greece for Nea Kifisia.

Aries Trikala hosted Nea Kifisia for Basket League eighth day. The home team took the lead in score by 10-5 and 13-7 but Nea Kifisia counter attacked and finished first quarter ahead by 7 points, 21-28. Adnan Hodžić had 10 points in the first quarter. Nea Kifisia preserved the score difference until the end and beat Trikala in their home for second year in a row. Aries Trikala have the best offense of the Basket League but also have the second worse defense of the League so they count three consecutive home defeats. Apollon Patras hosted Aries Trikala for Greek Basket League 22nd day. In the first round game Trikala won by 3 points Apollon Patras in the first game between two teams for the Greek League. Apollon Patras was better in the first half, with high accuracy in both field gols and three pointers, while Aries Trikala had 2/12 three pointers. Aries Trikala with Mario Matalon improved in the third quarter lowered the difference to 5 points, 50-45. Fourth quarter started again with a goal foul by Matalon which lowered the difference to 2 points. Apollon Patras replied with a 5-0 run and then Trikala's coach was charged with a technical foul. That technical foul worked as a shock for Aries Trikala that made a 14-0 run with Mike Porrini and Patrick Ewing and took the lead of the score. Stefan Perunicic with two three pointers secured the victory for his team and Mario Matalon gave his team a two digits difference. This was the first away victory for Aries Trikala. In a crucial game for each team in order to avoid relegation Aries Trikala won by one point and took an advantage against Ilisiakos. Ilisiakos started the game more focused and was leading the score in the first half. Aries Trikala counter attacked and with Patrick Ewing Junior having a great game took the lead in the third quarter but Ilisiakos balanced the game in the last quarter. The victory went to Aries Trikala in the end with a three pointer from Marios Matalon and free throws of Patrick Ewing Junior. This was the sixth home win for Aries Trikala. Ilisiakos tried but made 26 turnovers in the game. Patrick Ewing Junior finished the game with 27 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals and 8 fouls drawn. Nea Kifisia made only 4 turnovers in the first half and had double accuracy than Aries Trikala in two pointers, 73% vs 32%, finishing the first half ahead by 18 points. Aries Trikala complained about referees, since Patrick Ewing Junior was charged with 3 fouls after only 4 minutes in the game. It was almost sure that Aries Trikala will improve in the second half. On the opposite Chris Evans had 11 points and 2 rebounds. Second quarter was balanced, with partial score 16-16. KAOD finished the first half with only 1/6 three pointers and Aries Trikala with 3/11. Julian Vaughn in his best first half for this season had 20 points, 8 rebounds, 5 fouls drawn without any turnovers or fouls made. Aries Trikala hosted and defeated Aris for Greek League twelfth day. First quarter was great for the hosting team that scored 27 points and managed to keep the difference until the half time. In the 35th minute Sarikopoulos gave Aris the lead for the first time with one point, 40-41. Third quarter finished with equal score 50-50 but in the beginning of the fourth quarter Aries Trikala made a 10-3 run and regained a small difference. Aris lowered the difference with Sarikopoulos, Athinaiou and Vezenkov. In the last minute the scored was 66-60. Then Aris scored a three pointer with Pelekanos, two points with Sarikopoulos and another three pointer with Sarikopoulos, taking the lead by 66-68. Aries Trikala didn't score, Sarikopoulos missed two free shots but home team didn't score again and Athinaiou made the score 66-69. Jeremy Granger scored a three pointer in the last second and the game finished equal in normal time. Aris collected more rebounds than Aries Trikala in the normal time (28-42) but the hosting team had an almost perfect game with only 6 turnovers! In the extra time Jeremy Granger and Patrick Ewing Junior scored 6 points in a row before Athinaiou and Sarikopoulos counter attack with their 5 points in a row. Great game in the extra time too. The game ended with a dunk from Patrick Ewing Junior and Aries Trikala winning after a quality game. Patrick Ewing Junior scored 20 points and collected 8 rebounds. Aries Trikala defeated Apollon Patras for Greek League ninth day

Aries Trikala hosted and defeated Apollon Patras for Greek Basketball League ninth day. Aries Trikala was on the bottom of the table but the improving performance of Patrick Ewing Junior and the victory against PAOK cannot let other teams underestimate them. This was the third victory for Aries Trikala in the League. Lenny Daniel made another double double for Apollon Patras with 18 points and 10 rebounds but weren't enough to win the game. Demarius Bolds scored another 16 points for Apollon. For Aries Trikala Chris Evans was and Patrick Ewing Junior were the leader for one more game. Chris Evans scored 14 points and collected 8 rebounds while Patrick Ewing Junior scored 15 points and collected  9 rebounds. Marios Matalon seems improved game by game and this time scored 10 points. Kostas Flevarakis with simple moves is improving his team game by game.

Rethymno Aegean hosted and defeated Aries Trikala for Greek Basketball League eighth day. Rethymno Aegean took the lead in the first quarter but Aries Trikala counter attacked and finished the first half 4 points ahead of Rethymno Aegean. Third quarter was balanced and Rethymno Aegean won the game with a 7-0 run in the end of the game. Rethymno Aegean had bad percentages in shooting but the team made only 10 turnovers. Kenny Gabriel scored 20 points, collected 6 rebounds and made 5 blocks. Patrick Ewing Junior made another double double with 13 points and 15 rebounds, showing that after the adaptation period is revealing his great skills.
