Panionios lost by Neptūnas for Eurocup

Panionios lost by Neptūnas for Eurocup third day. This was the first home defeat of Panionios in the Eurocup. Panionios was good in third quarter and led the game but the fourth quarter was the weak quarter of the team. Quarters' scores: 18-21, 43-44, 72-65, 86-91

Panathinaikos defeated Aries Trikala for the third day of Greek Basketball League

Aries Trikala hosted Panathinaikos for the third day of the Greek Basketball League. Aries Trikala haven't any victory in the first two games and as coach Flevarakis said could only gain experiences from this match. Starting five for Aries Trikala were Granger, Mutakabbir, Perunicic, Kommatas and Deligiannis. Starting five for Panathinaikos were Pappas, Diamantidis, Mačiulis, Gist and Mavrokefalidis. Granger opened the score with a two pointer but Diamantidis scored a three pointer and Panathinaikos took the lead. Panathinaikos had 2/2 free throws, 2/2 two pointer and 2/2 three pointer in the first three minutes where the score were 3-13 and before Gist missing the first shot for Panathinaikos. James Gist had 4 steals in the first 5 minutes and Jeremy Granger 3 turnovers and 1 unsportsmanlike foul. Trikala scored 3 three pointers but Panathinaikos finished the first quarter ahead by 17, 12-29. Stephane Lasme was flawless in the first quarter. The second quarter started with a goal-foul from Georgakis and two three pointers from Matalon, so the difference dropped to 8, 21-29. Gist scored the first points for Panathinaikos 4 minutes after second quarter started. Two three pointers from Panathinaikos and the difference was back to 16, 21-37. Trikala improved in the second quarter and the half time finished with 11 points difference. Panathinaikos tightened its defense in the third quarter and the difference flew up to 39 points, 30-69. In the last two minutes Trikala scored 7 points in a row and the third quarter finished with 42-73. Trikala scored 3 three pointers in the final minute and the difference stopped at 20 points, final score 68-88. Argyris Pedoulakis gave time to Charalampopoulos, Shang Ping. Jeremy Granger and Nestoras Kommatos were the best players for Trikala, with Matalon adding 9 points from three pointers. For Panathinaikos all players available played, only Mavrokefalidis and Ping didn't score but four players finished the game with more than 10 points. Vlantimir Giankovits finished the game with double double, 17 points and 10 rebounds.

Apollon Patras wins Kolossos Rodou for the third day of Greek Basketball League

Apollon Patras hosted and defeated Kolossos Rodou. The history between two teams was too bad for Kolossos since the team from Rodos had lost all four games it played against Apollon Patras. Kolossos began this season with two defeats and was looking for its first victory against history. Apollon Patras was leading the score but Kolossos Rodou was following close for more than 30 minutes. In the last quarter Apollon widen the difference and finally won by 10. Apollon scored 10 three pointers and had only 9 turnovers, half of the 18 turnovers that Kolossos made and the 6 three pointers that it scored. Christoforos Stefanidis had a perfect game for Kolossos with 4/4 free throws, 5/5 two pointers, 2/2 three pointers, 3 assists and just 1 turnover. For Apollon Patras Demarius Bolds had 25 points and 12 received fouls. Kolossos Rodou remained without victory in three games this season.

Olympiacos defeated Ikaros Chalkidas for the third day of Greek Basketball League

Olympiacos smashed Ikaros Chalkidas by 99-61 for the third day of Greek Basketball League. Olympiacos didn't reach 100 points for one but the 38 points of difference says it all. Perperoglou, Sloukas and Dunston scored 52 points combined so Ivan Aska who made a double double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. The game doesn't stand analysis but Ikaros Chalkidas couldn't expect more with 1/18 three pointers compared with 8/19 from Olympiacos.

Aris defeated Nea Kifisia for the third day of Greek Basketball League

Aris hosted and defeated Nea Kifisia for the third day of Greek Basketball League. Liakopoulos and Crocker helped their team to took the lead but Vezenkov and Bochoridis managed to balance the first quarter which finished with score 17-17. Aris was ahead in score by 4-5 points in second and third quarter but Nea Kifisia was following close. Liakopoulos equalized for Nea Kifisia two times in the last two minutes. Garrett equalized one minute before the end, Pelekanos was successful in two pointer and gave Aris the two point difference. Sioutis missed the last shot, a three pointer, and Aris defeated Nea Kifisia by only two points. Aleksandar Vezenkov finished the game with a double double, 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Panelefsiniakos defeated Ilisiakos for the third day of Greek Basketball League

Panelefsiniakos hosted Ilisiakos for the third day of the Greek Basketball League. Panelefsiniakos had 4/6 three pointers in the first quarter which balanced the 5/19 two pointers and give it the lead with 24-16. The score didn't change since Panelefsiniakos finished the game with 11/22 three pointers while Ilisiakos had 3/22. Panelefsiniakos also dominated rebounds with 49 total. Rob Jones finished the game with a double double, 15 points and 11 rebounds. Mouhammad Faye scored 9 points and collected 11 rebounds, close to double double. Manolis Papamakarios served 7 assists, Raley Ross scored 13 points. For Ilisiakos Kevin Anderson scored 21 points and DJ Stephens 14 points.

Rethymno Aegean lost by PAOK for the third day

Rethymno Aegean hosted and lost by PAOK for the third day of Greek Basketball League 2013-2014. Both teams started the season with two victories and were leading the league table. PAOK flight from Hungary, where the team played for Eurocup, directly to Rethymno. Apollon Tsochlas played against his previous team. PAOK started the game with a four points and finished the first quarter with 12-17. Second quarter started the same but 5 minutes before the half time Rethymno Aegean ran a 10-0 rally and took the lead by 4. DJ Cooper three pointers made the first half score 35-33 for Rethymno. In the second half PAOK ran an 8-0 rally and took the lead again, until the end. With consecutive three pointers from DJ Cooper, Mark Payne and Charalampidis PAOK was ahead by 13 points. Final score was 64-81 for PAOK as a result to its offensive play in the last two quarters. Kenny Gabriel made his third double double (10 points, 11 rebounds) in a row, even if his team lost, and now we have to search for the double double records.

KAOD defeated Panionios for the third day of Greek Basketball League

KAOD hosted and defeated Panionios for the third day of Greek Basketball League. Panionios had won for Eurocup earlier this week and had two victories in the first two games of the League. Guy-Marc Michel came back to Drama as an opponent, after playing two years for KAOD. First quarter was very tight with the teams close to score. KAOD started the second quarter better and took the lead by 11 points 28-17. Then PAOK started its counter attack with a 10-0 rally which finished the first half with score 30-35. Chrysikopoulos, Marković and Covic in third quarter managed to change the lead for another time and third quarter finished with KAOD in the lead. McCollum tried to lower the difference in fourth quarter but KAOD managed to keep it and double its victories for the Greek League. Edin Bavčić finished the game with a double double, 11 points and 10 rebounds.
