Fenerbahce beat Panathinaikos for Euroleague Top 16 Round One

Fenerbahce hosted and beat Panathinaikos for Euroleague 2015-2016 Top 16 Round One. Panathinaikos was not good at the first quarter, then managed to balance the game in the second quarter but then Diamantidis got a light injury and left the game. Without Diamantidis Panathinaikos seemed to lack that something that could help the team steal the game at the end.

Panathinaikos beat AEK for Basket League sixteenth day

Panathinaikos beat AEK for Basket League Greece 2014-2015 sixteenth day. AEK started with 7-1 run, Panathinaikos balanced the game but the first half finished with AEK leading the score. AEK was bad in three pointers, 2/14, and Panathinaikos took the lead and created a secure difference. For AEK Pops Mensah-Bonsu made a double double with 18 points, 11 rebounds and 8 fouls drawn. Malik Hairston and Dusan Sakota scored 12 points each and Zisis Sarikopoulos collected 8 rebounds. Carl English had 1/8 three pointers and made 6 turnovers. For Panathinaikos Esteban Batista made a double double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. James Gist scored 13 points, Antonis Fotsis collected 7 rebounds, Dimitris Diamantidis served 6 assists. AJ Slaughter had 12 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals. DeMarcus Nelson made 5 turnovers out of 19 team turnovers.

Panathinaikos beat Bayern Munich for Euroleague seventh day

Panathinaikos hosted and beat Bayern Munich for Euroleague seventh day. The Greek champions stayed undefeated in their home and qualified to Euroleague Top 16. Panathinaikos finished the first half without any turnovers, flawless game by the greens. AJ Slaugher had a good day and Loukas Mavrokefalidis played for Esteban Batista too. For Bayern Munich Bo McCalebb had 15 points, John Bryant had 9 points and 9 rebounds, Robin Benzing had 14 points and 6 rebounds. Heiko Schaffartzik had 0/6 three pointers and James Gist had 1/8 field goals. Panathinaikos is getting more and more points by the new Greek players and the team seems to roll.

Panathinaikos lost by Bayern Munich for Euroleague

Bayern Munich hosted and beat Panathinaikos for Euroleague. Panathinaikos started with a 6-0 in Bayern but the home team replied with a 9-0 and took the lead. In the second quarter Bayern created a difference of five pointe, 32-27, but Panathinaikos with an 8-0 run managed to finish the half time leading the score, 32-35. Esteban Batista had 12 points in the first half and Dusko Savanovic had 11 points. In the third quarter Panathinaikos improved in three pointers and created a difference of six points, 49-55, but the home team replied once more with an 8-1 run and made the score 57-56. Vlantimir Giankovits took back the lead for his team with 57-59 at the end of the third quarter. In the last quarter Panathinaikos was missing three pointers and Bayern built a difference, 68-61. AJ Slaughter with two assists and one shot helped his team to make a 5-0 run and approach to two points before Nihad Djedovic and Dusko Savanovic with a three pointer each made the score 76-68. Panathinaikos was trying to score with three pointers and was wasting its chances to win the game. With 8/32 three pointers Panathinaikos wasted a lot of shots and chances to win. For Bayern Munich Dusko Savanovic had 20 points, 6 rebounds and Nihad Djedovic had 14 points, 6 rebounds. For Panathinaikos Esteban Batista had 18 points, 7 rebounds and Vlantimir Giankovits had 17 points. Dimitris Diamantidis had 7 assists and reached 999 assists in Euroleague but didn't score since he had 0/6 three pointers and 0/2 field goals. Antonis Fotsis had 15 points with 4/5 three pointers, 1/1 field goals and 1/1 free throws.

Panathinaikos beat Apollon Patras in friendly game

Panathinaikos beat Apollon Patras in the first friendly game for both teams. For Panathinaikos the captain Dimitris Diamantidis and the young Giorgos Papagiannis didn't play due to light injuries. For Panathinaikos DeMarcus Nelson was the top scorer with 13 points and Brandon Penn scored 13 points for Apollon Patras. Kevin Galloway scored 12 points, Gaios Skordilis and Antonis Fotsis 11 scored points each.

Panathinaikos beat Rethymno Aegean for Greek League 25th day

Panathinaikos hosted and beat Rethymno Aegean for Greek Basket League 25th day. Panathinaikos was tired and disappointed by its elimination from Euroleague final four. Rethmyno Aegean tried and managed to compete the champions for three quarters and Dimitris Diamantidis had to play and play good in order to win the game. Diamantidis came from the bench and had 23 points and 6 assists in 27 minutes. Antonis Fotsis had 12 points and 8 rebounds, Stephane Lasme had 15 points and 4 rebounds. For Rethmyno Aegean Kenny Gabriel made another double double with 16 points and 15 rebounds but had 4/12 field goals and 6 turnovers. Callistus Eziukwu had 8 points,6 rebounds and Fanis Koumpouras had 11 points, 4 assists but also 5 turnovers. Rethymno's captain Avraam Kallinikidis had 4 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist and 1 steal.

Ikaros Chalkidas lost by Panathinaikos for Greek League 22nd day

Ikaros Chalkidas hosted Panathinaikos for Greek Basket League 22nd day. In 9 games between the two teams, Ikaros Chalkidas had only one victory back in 2012-2013 regular season. This was the 100th game for Ikaros in the Greek Basket League but most of them were as Ikaros Kallitheas, before the name and home change. Panathinaikos had a small lead in the first quarter but the half time finished with equal score, 42-42. In the second half Panathinaikos wanted to end the game and with a 13-0 run, with three pointers by Antonis Fotsis and Mike Bramos, created a two digits difference. Ikaros Chalkidas, with Ivan Aska scoring 4 points in a row, lowered the difference to 9 points but Panathinaikos has started to roll. Panathinaikos broadened the difference to 21 points in the last quarter and won a game that Ikaros Chalkidas was competitive for one half time. High accuracy for Panathinaikos that had 12/29 three pointers, 18/29 field goals and 13/16 free throws. Ikaros Chalkidas collected 28 rebounds, 12 less than Panathinaikos. Dimitris Diamantidis played 20 minutes but didn't score since he had 0/3 three pointers. Roko Leni Ukić had 11 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Mike Bramos was the top scorer of Panathinaikos with 16 points and 4/5 three pointers, looking in a great shape. Antonis Fotsis also had 4/5 three pointers with 12 points and 5 rebounds. For Ikaros Chalkidas Ivan Aska had 14 points, 7 rebounds and Giannis Gagaloudis 15 points. Anthony Roberson had 12 points, 5 assists, 2 rebounds and 2 steals.

Panathinaikos defeated Anadolu Efes for Euroleague Top 16

Panathinaikos defeated Anadolu Efes in Istanbul for Euroleague Top 16. With Fragiskos Alvertis debuting as coach Panathinaikos managed to win a very tight game where the score was 60-65 after one extra time. In a game where both teams had Greek coaches the defense was the key. Anadolu Efes seemed to control the game and win in the end but Jonas Mačiulis scored a very crucial three pointer 14 seconds before the end and equalized the score leading the game to extra time. Zoran Planinic with 15 points and Antonis Fotsis with 14 points were the top scorers of their teams. Stephane Lasme made a double double with 11 points and 12 rebounds.

Panathinaikos won Olympiacos for Greek League 14th day

Panathinaikos hosted and defeated Olympiacos for Greek Basket League 14th day. Olympiacos defeated Panathinaikos in OAKA in the previous season with 60-64 score and also won in the first round game in Piraeus. Panathinaikos starting five were Diamantidis, Ukić, Mačiulis, Gist and Lasme. Starting five for Olympiacos were Mantzaris, Spanoulis, Lojeski, Printezis and Dunston.The game started with three consecutive missed three pointers, two for Olympiacos and one for Panathinaikos. Then Giorgos Printezis scored four points. Panathinaikos scored after 3 minutes in the game with Stephane Lasme, Roko Leni Ukić equalized the score and Ramel Curry gave the lead to Panathinaikos for the first time with 7-4 score. Vasilis Spanoulis with his first three pointer gave the lead to Olympiaocs by 9-10 but Ramel Curry with his second three pointer replied. Panathinaikos had 3/6 three pointers, while Olympiacos only 1/8 in the first quarter. Ramel Curry had 10 points in the first quarter. Olympiacos started second quarter with a 5-0 run and equalized the score, 17-17. Panathinaikos scored 3 points in the first 7 minutes of the second quarter, but then scored 6 points in a row. First half finished with Panathinaikos ahead in score by two points, 27-25. Mat Lojeski finished first half with 8 points and 5 rebounds. Olympiacos' coach Bartzokas was charged with a technical foul after the half time, due to complaining at coaches' decisions. In the second half Dimitris Diamantidis was charged with his third foul and Olympiacos took the lead with 28-31. Stephane Lasme felt sick and remained in the bench for the third quarter. Panathinaikos with a 5-0 run took back the lead by two, 35-33. With another 5-0 run in the end of the third quarter Panathinaikos finished ahead by 4, 41-37. The two teams were nervous in the last minutes with 6 consecutive turnovers from both teams to keep the score in low levels. Dimitris Diamantidis scored his first three pointer of the game and gave his team ten points lead, 52-42, two minutes before the end. Panathinaikos won a tight game and secured the first place of the Greek Basket League normal season. Olympiacos had a poor 13% in three pointer and made three more turnovers than Panathinaikos, 19 vs 16. For Panathinaikos Ramel Curry was the top scorer with 12 points. Dimitris Diamantidis had 10 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds and 3 steals. James Gist and Antonis Fotsis had 6 rebounds each. For Olympiacos Matt Lojeski scored 10 points and had 8 rebounds, with Bryant Dunston having 8 points and 8 rebounds. Vasilis Spanoulis had 3 points with 1/8 three pointers and 0/2 two pointers.

Panathinaikos defeated Rethymno Aegean for Greek League twelfth day

Rethymno Aegean hosted and lost by Panathinaikos for Greek League twelfth day. The first quarter was a game between Justin Hurtt and Kenny Gabriel against Panathinaikos. Hurtt and Gabriel had scored 9 and 7 points respectively, all the points of Rethymno Aegean in the first quarter and half of the team rebounds. For Panathinaikos Antonis Fotsis had 4 points and 6 rebounds in the first quarter, as many as the whole team of Rethymno. After 13 minutes in the game a third player scored for Rethymno, Aggelopoulos, making the score 22-26. With more players scoring for Rethymno the team approached Panathinaikos in the score with 25-26 with a three pointer by Arbet but Panathinaikos replied with two three pointers in a row. Half time finished with score 35-40. Rethymno Aegean managed to follow Panathinaikos since more players scored, besides Hurtt and Gabriel. For Panathinaikos 11 players have scored in the first half, with a bench depth that most teams in Greek League cannot compete. In the third quarter Panathinaikos broaden the difference with great team play and with double rebounds than Rethymno but also double turnovers. Panathinaikos won a game against a good team that didn't have its bench depth. For Panathinaikos Antonis Fotsis collected 11 rebounds but scored only 7 points and missed a double double. James Gist didn't miss a shot with 6/6 two pointers, 1/1 free throw and 1/1 three pointer, while Stephane Lasme missed only one shot, 6/7 two pointers and 2/2 free throws. Dimitris Diamantidis scored 12 points and gave 6 assists. Justin Hurrt scored 19 points and Kenny Gabriel 13 points with 7 rebounds.

Panathinaikos defeated Lokomotiv Kuban for Euroleague

Panathinaikos defeated Lokomotiv Kuban for Euroleague. Lokomotiv defeated Panathinaikos in the first game that took place in Heraklion, but the Greek champions won in Kuban and surpassed the difference of the defeat. Panathinaikos with 14/23 three pointers was unstoppable. Before the game Dimitris Diamantidis was 11th in three pointers in Euroleague. During the game the captain of Panathinaikos surpassed Louis Bullock, Drew Nicholas and Igor Rakocevic finishing 8th in three pointers. Vasilis Charalampopoulos, 16 years old, played for two minutes and collected 1 rebound.

Panathinaikos defeated Ikaros Chalkidas for Greek League ninth day

Panathinaikos hosted and defeated Ikaros Chalkidas for Greek League ninth day. This was the first game for Aris Lykogiannis as the new coach of Ikaros Chalkidas. In the first quarter Ikaros Chalkidas was following in score but in the second quarter the team from Chalkida didn't score for six minutes. After six minutes in the second quarter Darrin Govens stole the ball from Diamantidis and scored two points. In the second half Dimitris Diamantidis and Antonis Fotsis helped their team win easily the game. Dimitris Diamantidis collected only two rebounds but they were enough to become the fourth in rebounds in the Greek League.  The new player of Ikaros Ryan Richards  had a good game and showed that can help his team in the League. Richards scored 14 points and collected 7 rebounds. On the other hand Ante Mašić had only 3 points and 3 rebounds in 31 minutes.

Panathinaikos defeated Aris for Greek League seventh day

Panathinaikos defeated Aris for Greek League seventh day. Aris scored the first points but Panathinaikos made a 10-0 run in and finished the first quarter ahead by 7, 15-22. Second and third quarters were balanced but Panathinaikos dominated fourth quarter and won the game by 16 points. Asimakopoulos collected 11 rebounds but scored only 2 points. Diamantidis, Gist, Pappas, Mavrokefalidis and Fotsis scored each more than 10 points.

Panathinaikos defeated Lietuvos Rytas for Euroleague

Panathinaikos hosted and defeated Lietuvos Rytas for Euroleague. This was the first home game in Athens, Greece for Panathinaikos, after playing the first two games in Heraklion and Nicosia. Lietuvos Rytas had defeated Panathinaikos in the first round and played well but couldn't win second time. Jonas Mačiulis was great again against the team from Lithuania. James Gist was the leader of Panathinaikos with 24 points, 6 rebounds and 5 steals. For Lietuvos Jelovac scored 19 points and Gecevicius 17 points while Cook, Glyniadakis and Songaila didn't contribute much to the game.
