Panathinaikos signed Gani Lawal

Panathinaikos signed Gani Lawal. The 26 American Nigerian forward/center graduated from College Park of Georgia and played for three years for the Georgia Tech. In 2010 he was drafted by the Phoenix Suns, number 46 overall, and played for the Iowa Energy in the NBA Development League. Then he moved to Poland for Zielona Gora, in China for Xinjiang Flying Tigers, back to Gora and then in France for Roanne. In the last two years he played in Italy for Virtus Roma, in China for Guangzhou, in Latvia for Lietuvos Riga, back to Italy for Armani Milano and his last team was the Turkish Trabzonspor.

Olympiacos beat Fenerbahce for Euroleague Top 16 round 3

Olympiacos beat Fenerbahçe Ülker in Istanbul for Euroleague 2014-2015 Top 16 round 3. Fenerbahçe started better the game and was leading the score in the first quarter. In the second quarter Olympiacos lost Brent Petway and Oliver Lafayette due to injuries but with three pointers took the lead of the game. Fenerbahçe counter attacked and was leading the score by 60-56 but Olympiacos with a three pointer by its captain Vasilis Spanoulis and a steal by its top scorer Matt Lojeski stole the victory. Olympiacos continues with three victories in three games for the Euroleague Top 16.

Panathinaikos beat Zalgiris for Euroleague Top 16 round 3

Panathinaikos hosted and beat Zalgiris Kaunas for Euroleague 2014-2015 Top 16 round 3. The Greens remained undefeated in their home for the Top 16. Panathinaikos started the game with a 9-0 run and surprised Zalgiris that was not able to reply. With Nikos Pappas as its top scorer and with Vlantimir Giankovits having 11 points and 7 rebounds Panathinaikos builds for the future too. For the visitors Will Chery had 14 points and Edgaras Ulanovas had 10 points.

Panathinaikos released Julian Wright

Panathinaikos released Julian Wright. The 27 years old power forward did not manage to get a season contract with the Greek champions and was released after the Euroleague game with Maccabi Electra. With the Greens Wright played 9 games in the Euroleague 2014-2015 averaging 3.8 points and 2 rebounds in 10 minutes per game. Wright continued his career in Israel with Bnei Herzliya.

Olympiacos beat Crvena Zvezda for Euroleague

Olympiacos hosted and beat Crvena Zvezda for Euroleague. With this victory Olympiacos secured the first place of its group and there will be no Greek fight in Euroleague's Top 16 round. Crvena Zvezda was competitive when Boban Marjanovic was playing. Marjanovic had 17 points and 13 rebounds. Luka Mitrovic had 11 points and 7 rebounds. For the winners Vasilis Spanoulis had 15 points, Kostas Sloukas had 9 points and 5 assists, Brent Petway had 7 points and 7 rebounds.

Olympiacos beat Neptūnas for Euroleague eighth day

Olympiacos hosted and beat Neptūnas for Euroleague eighth day. Neptūnas had 2/9 three pointers, 2/6 free throws and 10 turnovers in the first half so the 11 points of difference was a normal result. Vasilis Spanoulis with 10 points, 4 assists and 3 rebounds was leading Olympiacos against Keith Benson who had 7 points and 6 rebounds. Spanoulis surpassed Jaka Lakovic in Euroleague all time scorers and he is now in the third position. For Olympiacos Brent Petway had 20 20 points, Bryant Dunston had 15 points, Vasilis Spanoulis finished with 13 points, 9 assists and 5 rebounds. For Neptūnas Donatas Zavackas had 15 points, Keith Benson and Arnas Butkevičius had 11 points each.

Panathinaikos beat Bayern Munich for Euroleague seventh day

Panathinaikos hosted and beat Bayern Munich for Euroleague seventh day. The Greek champions stayed undefeated in their home and qualified to Euroleague Top 16. Panathinaikos finished the first half without any turnovers, flawless game by the greens. AJ Slaugher had a good day and Loukas Mavrokefalidis played for Esteban Batista too. For Bayern Munich Bo McCalebb had 15 points, John Bryant had 9 points and 9 rebounds, Robin Benzing had 14 points and 6 rebounds. Heiko Schaffartzik had 0/6 three pointers and James Gist had 1/8 field goals. Panathinaikos is getting more and more points by the new Greek players and the team seems to roll.

Laboral Kutxa beat Olympiacos for Euroleague seventh day. Olympiacos counted 6 victories in 6 games but this winning strike ended in Spain. Vasilis Spanoulis scored 27 points and passed Mike Batiste in the fourth scorer of all times in Euroleague but did not celebrate his record with a victory. The reds were in a bad day and in the last quarter Sfairopoulos and Agravanis were charged with a technical foul each for complaining. Great game for ex-Olympiacos player Mirza Begić who had 12 points and 7 rebounds. Thomas Heurtel had 18 points and Davis Bertans had 17 points.

Olympiacos beat Valencia for Euroleague sixth day

Olympiacos hosted and beat Valencia for Euroleague sixth day. Olympiacos expanded its victory strike to 6-0 but it needed a free throw from Vasilis Spanoulis 11 seconds before the end in order to beat Valencia who was a close to a great victory. For the winners Spanoulis had 15 points and 7 assists, Dimitris Agravanis had 8 points and 10 rebounds, Bryant Dunston had 14 points. For Valencia Pau Ribas, Bojan Dubljevic and Vladimir Lucic had 16 points each.

Barcelona hosted and beat Panathinaikos for Euroleague fifth day. Panathinaikos was not accurate in three pointers and made its second defeat in two away Euroleague games. Panathinaikos was competitive until 28-30, but Justin Doellman with 7 consecutive points gave Barcelona the lead by 43-33 and then his team rolled. Panathinaikos had a poor 2/20 three pointers and only 9 assists. For the winners Ante Tomic had 16 points and 10 rebounds, Juan Carlos Navarro and Brad Oleson had 12 points each. For Panathinaikos only Esteban Batista had more than 10 points and Diamantidis had 9 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists but 0/4 three pointers.

Olympiacos beat Galatasaray for Euroleague fifth day

Olympiacos hosted and beat Galatasaray for Euroleague fifth day. Olympiacos continues undefeated in Euroleague 2014-2015 with five victories in five games. WIth double shot accuracy and half turnovers than its opponent Olympiacos could not lose the game. Olympiacos had 29/41, 70% two points accuracy while Galatasaray had 14/37, a poor 37%. Olympiacos finished the game with only 6 turnovers and 26 assists while Galatasaray had only 9 assists. The reds were leading the game with ease and in the last four minutes with a 26-1 run they smashed Galatasaray with 27 points difference! Othello Hunter finished the game with a double double, 17 points and 10 rebounds. Vasilis Spanoulis had 16 points and 7 assists, flawless game for Vangelis Mantzaris who had 15 points with 6/6 shots.

Panathinaikos started with 3/3 three pointers and Armani Milano loose defense helped the home team to build a difference and keep it. In the third quarter Panathinaikos made a 13-0 run and cleared the game. For Panathinaikos Esteban Batista had 15 points and 4 rebounds, Dimitris Diamantidis had 6 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. For Armani Milano Joe Ragland had 13 points, 7 assists and Samardo Samuels had 18 points.

Olympiacos released Cedric Simmons

Olympiacos released Cedric Simmons. The 29 years old center could only play in Euroleague with Olympiacos and this season he didn't play at all in three Euroleague games. In the previous season he averaged 3.8 points and 3 rebounds in 22 games in Euroleague and 4.5 points and 3.8 rebounds in the Basket League. Simmons will continue his career in Italy and Euroleague with Dinamo Basket Sassari.

Olympiacos beat Neptūnas for Euroleague third day

Olympiacos beat Neptūnas for Euroleague third day. Olympiacos needed an extra time to beat Neptūnas but even like this made its third victory in three games. The home team had 0/10 three pointers in the first half and was behind in score but in the second half they made a 7-0 run and balanced the game. In the end of the normal time Shakur missed a chance to win the game by missing a free throw and in extra time Olympiacos won the game. Vasilis Spanoulis had a great game with 34 points, 7 assists and 5 rebounds. Kostas Sloukas helped his team with crucial shots and 13 points. Simas Galdigas finished the game with a double double, 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Panathinaikos lost by Bayern Munich for Euroleague

Bayern Munich hosted and beat Panathinaikos for Euroleague. Panathinaikos started with a 6-0 in Bayern but the home team replied with a 9-0 and took the lead. In the second quarter Bayern created a difference of five pointe, 32-27, but Panathinaikos with an 8-0 run managed to finish the half time leading the score, 32-35. Esteban Batista had 12 points in the first half and Dusko Savanovic had 11 points. In the third quarter Panathinaikos improved in three pointers and created a difference of six points, 49-55, but the home team replied once more with an 8-1 run and made the score 57-56. Vlantimir Giankovits took back the lead for his team with 57-59 at the end of the third quarter. In the last quarter Panathinaikos was missing three pointers and Bayern built a difference, 68-61. AJ Slaughter with two assists and one shot helped his team to make a 5-0 run and approach to two points before Nihad Djedovic and Dusko Savanovic with a three pointer each made the score 76-68. Panathinaikos was trying to score with three pointers and was wasting its chances to win the game. With 8/32 three pointers Panathinaikos wasted a lot of shots and chances to win. For Bayern Munich Dusko Savanovic had 20 points, 6 rebounds and Nihad Djedovic had 14 points, 6 rebounds. For Panathinaikos Esteban Batista had 18 points, 7 rebounds and Vlantimir Giankovits had 17 points. Dimitris Diamantidis had 7 assists and reached 999 assists in Euroleague but didn't score since he had 0/6 three pointers and 0/2 field goals. Antonis Fotsis had 15 points with 4/5 three pointers, 1/1 field goals and 1/1 free throws.

Panathinaikos beat Turow Zgorzelec for Euroleague first day

Panathinaikos hosted and beat Turow Zgorzelec for Euroleague 2014-2015 first day. Panathinaikos is an experienced Euroleague team but this season started with fresh players. With Dimitris Diamantidis playing only for 15 minutes and scoring two points Panathinaikos would have faced problems in the previous years but now A.J. Slaughter and Nikos Pappas scored 16 points each and Esteban Batista, Jānis Blūms and Vlantimir Giankovits scored more than 10 points each. Julian Wright who debuted with Panathinaikos scored 4 points. For Turow Zgorzelec Mardy Collins, who had played many games against Panathinaikos in the previous season with Olympiacos, scored 23 points and Damian Kulig scored 17 points. Panathinaikos starts Euroleague 2014-2015 with a home victory.
