Panathinaikos beat Aries Trikala for Basket League seventeenth day

Panathinaikos hosted and beat Aries Trikala for Basket League Greece 2014-2015 seventeenth day. Dusko Ivanovic gave the chance to young players and they did their best. Giorgos Papagiannis made his first double double with 10 points, 12 rebounds, 3 blocks and 2 steals in 23 minutes. Michalis Lountzis scored 11 points, Antonis Koniaris scored 5 points and served 5 assists, Nikos Pappas scored 13 points, Vasilis Charalampopoulos collected 7 rebounds and Lefteris Bochoridis served 6 assists. Panathinaikos counted 32 assists, 11 steals, 7 blocks, 15/33 three pointers and 16 turnovers. For Aries Trikala Alex Harris scored 21 points, Justin Ingram had 14 points and 8 assists, Slaven Cupkovic had 11 points and 5 rebounds, Alex Varytimiadis had 5 points and 3 assists.

Panathinaikos beat Kolossos Rodou for Basket League fifteenth day

Panathinaikos hosted and beat Kolossos Rodou for Basket League 2014-2015 fifteenth day. Kolossos surprised Panathinaikos and the visitors were leading the score in the first quarter. Diamantidis entered the court and with his eight assists organized the counter attack. AJ Slaughter with 3 three pointers created a difference for Panathinaikos but in the end the youngsters Bochoridis, Koniaris, Charalampopoulos and Diamantakos secured the victory. For the winners Esteban Batista had 17 points, Dimitris Diamantidis had 9 points and 8 assists, Vlantimir Giankovits had 7 rebounds and 4 assists, and Vasilis Charalampopoulos made 4 steals. Panathinaikos made only 8 team turnovers while Kolossos made 17 in total. For Kolossos Dominic Waters had 15 points and 6 assists, Taylor Smith had 8 rebounds, Giannoulis Larentzakis had 13 points and 5 assists.

Panathinaikos lost from Fenerbahce for Euroleague

Panathinaikos lost from Fenerbahçe Ülker in Istanbul for Euroleague. Panathinaikos went to Istanbul without Esteban Batista nor Loukas Mavrokefalidis and on the first quarter Dimitris Diamantidis got a light ankle injury. Withouth center nor Diamantidis the Greek champions could not play for victory and lost by Fenerbahçe. Andrew Goudelock had 18 points with 4/5 three pointers, Semih Erden had 14 points and 7 rebounds and Jan Vesely had 12 points with 6/7 two pointers. For Panathinaikos AJ Slaughter had 20 points with 4/11 three pointers, James Gist had 9 points and 5 assists, Vasilis Charalampoulos had 7 points and 3 rebounds. Janis Blums had 0/4 three pointers and did not score any points.

Panathinaikos beat Aries Trikala for Basket League fourth day

Panathinaikos beat Aries Trikala in Trikala for Basket League fourth day. Panathinaikos took the score lead from the first quarter. In the second quarter Panathinaikos created a difference of 15 points, 23-38, but Trikala made a 13-0 run, 36-38 and managed to finish the quarter only six points behind, 42-48. Trikala had 2/11 three pointers in the first half. Steve Panos finished the first half with 11 points and Diamantidis with 12 and 3/6 three pointers. In the second half Trikala attacked and Panathinaikos was not that tight in defense so the home team approached to two points, 54-56. Blums and Fotsis with three pointers secured the game for Panathinaikos that made a 13-3 run and the difference went up to 18 points, 60-78. For Aries Trikala Steve Panos had 14 points, Christos Deligiannis had 11 points and 5 rebounds and Nate Bowie had 9 assists. Mario Matalon had 7 assists and 4 points and Slaven Čupković had 13 points. For Panathinaikos Dimitris Diamantidis had 18 points, 4 rebounds and 7 assists. Janis Blums had 12 points with 4/6 three pointers, Vlantimir Giankovits had 14 points, 6 assists and 5 rebounds, Vasilis Charalampopoulos had 7 points and 5 assists. AJ Slaughter had a bad day with 0/5 field goals and 0/2 three pointers.

Panathinaikos beat Apollon Patras for Greek League Play Offs

Panathinaikos beat and eliminated Apollon Patras for Greek Basket League Play Offs round one. Panathinaikos had 12 players that scored and the captain Dimitris Diamantidis had 16 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists. This time Charalampopoulos was the young player of Panathinaikos that played and scored 3 points. For Apollon Patras Roland Ross had 23 points, Jeremiah Wilson had 8 rebounds but the surprise was the young Sarantis Mastrogiannopoulos who had 5 points with 1/1 triple and 2/2 free throws.

Greece U18 - U17 friendly game

In a friendly game that took place in Megara, Greece, between the U18 and U17 Greek National Teams the first won by 76-58. Greece U18 was formed with players born in 1996 and 1997 while Greece U17 was formed with players born in 1997.

Tomorrow Greece U18 will play a friendly game against Ethnikos Piraeus. Greece U18 is training for European U18 Championship that will take place in Konya, Turkey between 24th July and 3rd August 2014. Greece U17 is training for World U17 Championship that will take place in UAE between 8th and 16th August 2014.

21st Greek All Star Game Young players results

21st Greek All Star Game Young Players Results. Rising Stars team won Young Stars team although Giorgos Diamantakos making a double double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. In the three pointers contest there was a big surprise since Panagiotis Zanidakis, a student from local High School of Nea Kydonia, won the constest with 14 successful three pointers in the final against Lefteris Bochoridis and Vasilis Toliopoulos.
Vasilis Charalampopoulos of Panathinaikos won the dunk contest against Kostas Mitoglou of Aris in the final.

Panathinaikos defeated Aris for Greek League 20th day

Panathinaikos hosted defeated Aris for Greek Basket League 20th day. This was the 17th consecutive victory of Panathinaikos against Aris for the Greek Basket League. Aris was competitive only for one quarter when the team from Thessaloniki was leading the score by 10-14. Aris was poor in three pointers with 2/14 and collected 11 rebounds less than Panathinaikos. Zack Wright was the top scorer of Panathinaikos with 15 points. All twelve players available were used in the game by coach Argyris Pedoulakis, including the young Greek players Vasilis Charalampopoulos and Giorgos Diamantakos. For Aris Alexander Vezenkov was the top player with 13 points and 6 rebounds.
Quarters' scores: 20-16, 44-28, 60-40, 71-59.

Panathinaikos defeated Lokomotiv Kuban for Euroleague

Panathinaikos defeated Lokomotiv Kuban for Euroleague. Lokomotiv defeated Panathinaikos in the first game that took place in Heraklion, but the Greek champions won in Kuban and surpassed the difference of the defeat. Panathinaikos with 14/23 three pointers was unstoppable. Before the game Dimitris Diamantidis was 11th in three pointers in Euroleague. During the game the captain of Panathinaikos surpassed Louis Bullock, Drew Nicholas and Igor Rakocevic finishing 8th in three pointers. Vasilis Charalampopoulos, 16 years old, played for two minutes and collected 1 rebound.
