Two buzzer beaters in the cup game between Doukas and Promitheas

Promitheas beat and eliminated Doukas from the Greek Cup 2015-2016 in a great game where each team scored a buzzer beater three pointer in the last two seconds of the game. Fanis Koumpouras (#6) scored an incredible three pointers while Doukas fans and players were cheering for their shot.

Aggelos Tsamis moved to Promitheas Patras

Aggelos Tsamis moved to A2 for Promitheas Patras. Tsamis penned a two years contract and returns to his hometown to help the newly promoted team go to Basket League. Promitheas Patras will play for the first time in the A2 division but has already signed Fanis Koumpouras (also from Patras) and Steve Panos. Tsamis played 20 games with Kolossos Rodou for Basket League 2014-2015 averaging 10.6 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game.

Greek players moving to A2 division

In the previous season A2 division attracted many Greek players from the Basket League. The teams of the Greek countryside have money to offer in order to sign experienced players and fight for promotion to the big league. In this transfer period Promitheas signed Steve Panos from Aries Trikala, and Fanis Koumpouras from Rethymno Aegean. Faros signed Liakopoulos from Nea Kifisia, Aggelopoulos from Korivos Amaliadas, and Karampoulas from Kavala.

Kolossos Rodou beat Rethymno Aegean for Basket League twenty third day

Kolossos Rodou hosted and beat Rethymno Aegean for Basket League Greece 2014-2015 twenty third day. Kolossos secured the sixth place with a good game from two hot prospects, Toliopoulos and Larentzakis. Impressive statistic for the winners the nine blocks they made, 4 by Taylor Smith and 3 by Jamelle Hagins. Vasilis Toliopoulos had 15 points with only missed shot, Taylor Smith collected 9 rebounds, Dominic Waters served 8 assists. For Rethymno Damian Hollis scored 13 points, Faye had 7 rebounds and 8 fouls drawn, Roeland Schaftenaar scored 10 points with only two shots missed, and Fanis Koumpouras served 4 assists.

Rethymno Aegean beat Nea Kifisia for Basket League twenty second day

Rethymno Aegean hosted and beat Nea Kifisia for Basket League Greece 2014-2015 twenty second day. Nea Kifisia was leading the game in the first half. The visitors began with an 11-2 run but in the second half Vincent Council and Fanis Koumpouras balanced the score. Rethymno Aegean created a secure difference, 57-47. In the last seconds Nea Kifisia approached to 60-58, but could not steal the victory. For the winners Damian Hollis in his debut was the top scorer with 12 points (9/10 free throws). Faye had 0/5 three pointers but scored 8 points, collected 6 rebounds and served 4 assists. Roeland Schaftenaar collected 6 rebounds, Fanis Koumpouras scored 11 points. Vincent Council scored 12 points, won 7 fouls and made 5 turnovers. For Nea Kifisia Mavroeidis scored 16 points, Nikos Barlos collected 7 rebounds, and Nikos Liakopoulos served 7 assists. Nea Kifisia made 21 turnovers.

Rethymno Aegean beat Apollon in Patras for Basket League Greece 2014-2015 twenty first day. Rethymno Aegean made its second victory in a row and Apollon Patras another defeat. The visitors were more accurate and managed to create and early scoring lead, which they preserved until the end. For the home team Toarlyn Fitzpatrick had 16 points and 9 rebounds, Muhammad El-Amin had 10 points (3/10 f.g.) and 3 assists, Gaios Skordilis had 9 points. For the winners Mouhammad Faye made a double double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Giannis Kalampokis had 14 points, Fanis Koumpouras had 5 assists, Dejan Kravic had 9 points with 4/5 shots.

Olympiacos beat Rethymno Aegean for Basket League nineteenth day

Olympiacos hosted and beat Rethymno Aegean for Basket League Greece 2014-2015 nineteenth day. The visitors started better and finished the first quarter ahead by 6 points, 15-21. Sloukas helped Olympiacos to balance the game and the expulsion of Vincent Council with two unsportsmanslike foul changed the game. Great game for Kostas Sloukas who made a double double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. For the winners Othello Hunter collected 11 rebounds and scored 6 points, Bryant Dunston made 4 blocks. For Rethymno Roeland Schaftenaar and Travis Simpson scored 9 points. Schaftenaar collected 11 rebounds, and 4 out of 8 team offensive rebounds. Mouhammad Faye collected 8 rebounds and made 3 steals. Fanis Koumpouras served 3 assists.
Poor shot accuracy for Rethymno that had 2/16 three pointers.

Rethymno Aegean beat Korivos Amaliadas for Basket League sixteenth day

Rethymno Aegean hosted and beat Korivos Amaliadas for Basket League Greece 2014-2015 sixteenth day. Korivos surprised Rethymno in the first quarter with a 8-22 partial score but the home team was lowering the difference steadily until the end. In the extra time Rethymno with 20-8 partial score did not let Korivos hope. For the winners Mouhammad Faye made a double double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Roeland Schaftenaar had 14 points and 8 rebounds, Dejan Kravic had 14 points, Chaisson Allen had 13 points and Fanis Koumpouras had 10 points and 5 assists. For Korivos Josh Magette had a complete performance with 15 points, 8 fouls drawn, 7 assists and 6 rebounds. Nikos Angelopoulos with 17 points and 8 rebounds did his best and Rawie Marshall had 9 points and 9 rebounds. Korivos believed it could make a road victory after seven defeats but in the over time Rethymno dominated the game.

Aries Trikala beat Rethymno Aegean for Basket League twelfth day. Aries Trikala with Alex Harris, Justin Ingram and Slaven Čupković won where only Olympiacos has won in this season. Rethymno Aegean was leading the first half but Aries Trikala made an 11-0 run in the third quarter and took the lead of the game. Aries Trikala have to stabilize their performance since they made such great victories but lose in less difficult games. For Rethymno Aegean Giannis Kalampokis had 18 points, Trevis Simpson had 17 points and 7 rebounds, Dejan Kravis had 13 points and 8 rebounds, Fanis Koumpouras had 6 points and 6 assists. Mouhammad Faye made another double double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. For the winners Alex Harris had 23 points in 21 minutes, Justin Ingram had 17 points and 6 assists, Slaven Čupković had 13 points and 5 rebounds, Steve Panos had 8 points and 9 rebounds.

Rethymno Aegean hosted and beat Panionios for Basket League fourth day. Panionios with Vangelis Alexandris as its new coach was more competitive but did not celebrate its first victory and will struggle to avoid relegation. For Rethymno Aegean Roeland Schaftenaar made a double double with 25 points and 10 rebounds. Fanis Koumpouras had 10 points and 5 assists. Trevis Simpson, Chaisson Allen and Mouhammed Faye had 9 points each. For Panionios Yaroslav Korolev had 14 points and 8 rebounds and the new addition Gabe Prewitt had 12 points with 4 three pointers.

For Rethymno Aegean Roeland Schaftenaar scored 15 points, Trevis Simpson scored 14 points, Fanis Koumpouras served 8 assists, Mouhammad Faye scored 15 points and collected 9 rebounds, Dejan Kravic scored 11 points and collected 8 rebounds. For Korivos Amaliadas Saša Vasiljević scored 8 points but missed the last shot, Josh Magette scored 16 points and served 4 assists, Darrius Garrett scored 9 points and collected 7 rebounds. Great victory for Rethymno Aegean in Amaliada against a tough team.

Olympiacos beat Rethymno Aegean for Petros Oikonomakis friendly tournament. Olympiacos had a great day with 64% accuracy in three pointers. Rethymno Aegean had a great Faye with 15 points (4/5 three pointers), Council with 16 points and Koumpouras with 13 points (5/5 field goals). For Olympiacos Matt Lojeski had 21 points, Kostas Sloukas had 7 points and 9 assists, while Petway and Hunter dominated the rebounds.

Rethymno Aegean beat Nea Kifisia in friendly game. In another home friendly game for Nea Kifisia but this time could not win. For Rethymno Aegean Trevis Simpson scored 18 points and Giannis Sinis 20 points. For Nea Kifisia Nikos Liakopoulos scored 10 and Michalis Kakiouzis scored 12 points but all players scored.

Panionios defeated Rethymno Aegean for Greek League eleventh day

Panionios hosted and defeated Rethymno Aegean for Greek League eleventh day. Panionios with Errick McCollum and Marios Batis having a great game defeated Rethymno Aegean in the last game of 2013. Panionios had 10/25 three pointers against 4/23 of Rethymno Aegean. Marios Batis for Panionios and Kenny Gabriel for Rethymno Aegean finished the game with a double double. Batis scored 13 points and collected 13 rebounds, while Gabriel scored 11 points and collected 12 rebounds. For Rethymno Aegean three players scored 11 points each, Koumpouras, Kalampokis and Gabriel.

Rethymno defeated Panelefsiniakos for Greek League seventh day

Rethymno Aegean defeated Panelefsiniakos for Greek League seventh day. Rethymno had a good first quarter when it created a difference of 11 points. Panelefsiniakos just lowered the difference of 23 points of the half time. Rethymno Aegean had 46% in three pointers, 12/26, while Panelefsiniakos only 27%, 6/22. This was a victory after two defeats in a row for Rethymno Aegean. Nikou finished the game with 10 assists but just one point. Mouhammad Faye made a double double with 26 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals. Kenny Gabriel missed another double double with 9 points and 9 rebounds. Justin Hurtt with 24 points was the leader of Rethymno.
