Dimitris Katsivelis Returns to PAOK After Six Years

PAOK has officially announced the return of Dimitris Katsivelis to the team, six years after his first stint with the club. The experienced 33-year-old guard is set to bring his wealth of experience and skill back to the "Palataki" for the 2024-25 season.

Player Profile and Career Highlights

Dimitris Katsivelis was born on October 1, 1991, in Thessaloniki, Greece. Standing at 1.98 meters (6'6"), he plays as a guard. Katsivelis began his career with Mantoulidis Schools and signed a five-year contract with Olympiacos in the summer of 2010. During his time with Olympiacos, he achieved significant success, including winning the EuroLeague twice (2012, 2013), the Intercontinental Cup (2013), the Greek Championship twice (2012, 2015), as well as the Greek Cup in 2011.

Following his time at Olympiacos, Katsivelis played for AEK Athens (2015-16), then moved abroad for the first time in his career, joining Astana in Kazakhstan for the 2016-17 season. With Astana, he secured both the league championship and the cup. Katsivelis returned to Greece for the 2017-18 season, joining PAOK, where he had an outstanding season, helping the team secure a third-place finish in the league.

Subsequently, Katsivelis played two seasons with Promitheas Patras (2018-20), returned to AEK Athens (2020-21), and had one-year stints with Peristeri (2021-22), Kolossos Rhodes (2022-23), and Aris Thessaloniki (2023-24).


National Team Contributions


In addition to his club achievements, Katsivelis has been a valuable player for the Greek national team at various levels. He has represented Greece in numerous international competitions, winning the gold medal at the FIBA Europe Under-18 Championship in 2008 and silver medals at both the FIBA Under-19 World Cup in 2009 and the FIBA Europe Under-20 Championship in 2010.

Promitheas signed Dimitris Katsivelis


Promitheas signed Dimitris Katsivelis. The 27-year-old Greek guard started his career with Mantoulidis and has also played for Olympiacos, PAOK, and AEK in Greece. In 2016 Katsivelis moved to Kazakhstan to play for Astana. In the previous season Katsivelis was the second top scorer of PAOK in the first round of the regular season. He was a member of all youth Greek national basketball teams and in 2017 he became a member of the senior men's Greek national basketball team.

Olympiacos beat Nea Kifisia for Greek League 25th day

Olympiacos beat Nea Kifisia in Kifisia for Greek Basket League 25th day. For Olympiacos Spanoulis, Dunston and Sloukas were not available and Nea Kifisia managed to lead the score in the first quarter and when Olympiacos took the lead the home team didn't allow them to broaden the difference. Good game for Nikos Barlos who had 19 points and 6 rebounds. Michalis Kakiouzis had 8 points and 6 rebounds. Giorgos Bartzokas used all 12 players available but the young Christodoulou and Katsivelis didn't score. Giorgos Printezis had 15 points and 7 rebounds, Mardy Collins had 7 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists, Giorgi Shermandini had 13 points and 5 rebounds.
Quarters' scores: 20-17, 31-38, 48-57, 67-75.

Olympiacos wins Ilisiakos for Greek cup quarterfinals

Olympiacos played its first official game in Greece, after two victories for the Intercontinental Cup in Brazil. Ilisiakos have eliminated Agia Paraskevi, Ikaros Chalkidas and Apollon Patras for the Greek Cup.Vassilis Spanoulis missed the last training before the game due to a flu and wasn't included in the 12 players for Olympiacos in this match. Besides Spanoulis, Mavroeidis, Begić, Law and Christodoulou were not available for Olympiacos in this game. For Ilisiakos Chatzis and DJ Stephens were not available, which was a great disadvantage for the team. The game started with a delay since the General Secretary of Sports have not allowed spectators in the pitch, although Ilisiakos has only allowed season card holders to enter. Starting five for Olympiacos were Mantzaris, Perperoglou, Lojeski, Petway and Dunston. Petway scored the first points of Olympiacos in Greece for the new season. Dunston and Petway dominated the court in the first quarter with impressive dunks who contributed to the score (12-33) and the show. Ilisiakos seemed unable to follow the score without Chatzis and Stephens, so Olympiacos' coach gave the chance to young players like Agravanis to play. First half ended with 29-47. Olympiacos tried a lot of young players like Katsivelis and Papapetrou in the third quarter but the difference remained around 20 points. Final score in the game was 54-85 with Olympiacos being the fourth team qualifying in the semifinals of the Greek Cup. Quarters' scores: 12-33, 29-47, 43-62, 54-85

Olympiacos defeated Montegranaro in Patras Cup

Olympiacos BC defeated Sutor Basket Montegranaro with 88-74 in the second game of Patras Cup. For Olympiacos Dunston scored 14 points while Matt Lojeski and Katsivelis both scored 12 points.
