AEK and Malik Hairston parted ways

AEK and Malik Hairston parted ways. The 29 years old guard failed his medical tests, according to sources from the team, and Jurij Zdovc does not include him in the team roster for the new season. Hairston joined AEK in January 2015 and renewed his contract for one more year in July 2015.

Malik Hairston renews with AEK BC

Malik Hairston renews with AEK BC. The American guard came in Greece six months ago and helped AEK enter play offs, where he did not played due to an injury. Hairston averaged 14.9 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 13 games. The player signed a two years contract with AEK.

Rethymno Aegean beat AEK for Basket League twenty fourth day

Rethymno Aegean hosted and beat AEK for Basket League Greece 2014-2015 twenty fourth day. AEK was leading the score for 36 minutes but Rethymno with an 8-0 run in the last minutes (and the technical foul of Mensah-Bonsu, who was fouled out) stole the victory since Scottie Wilbekin missed the last shot. Rethymno Aegean had 2/13 three pointers, but also had ten more offensive rebounds (16-6) and only 8 team turnovers, while AEK had 13 missed free throws (17/30). Great game by Roeland Schaftenaar, with 27 points and 6 rebounds. The Dutch blocked Pops Mensah-Bonsu who collected 9 rebounds but scored only 6 points, made 5 turnovers before being fouled out. For Rethymno Faye had 9 points, 9 rebounds and 3 blocks, Vincent Council served 6 assists, Giannis Kalampokis had 17 points. For AEK Malik Hairston had 22 points and 7 fouls drawn, Dusan Sakota had 14 points, Carl English had 11 points with 1/5 three pointers, Wilbekin served 5 assists but did not pass the ball for the last crucial shot.

AEK hosted and beat Aries Trikala for Basket League Greece 2014-2015 twenty third day. AEK honoured Giorgos Amerikanos and debuted the NBA style replicas. This celebration atmosphere did not help the team focus on defence and Aries Trikala finished the first quarter leading the score. Dragan Sakota did not let his players loose and AEK allowed Trikala only 16 points in the second quarter. Mixed debut for coach Kostas Papazoglou with a good first half. Another double double for Pops Mensah-Bonsu with 15 points, 17 rebounds and 8 fouls drawn. Malik Hairston had 21 points and 5 assists, Dusan Sakota had 16 points and 8 assists, Tomas Delininkaitis had 13 points. In a tight game Aris was following AEK for more than thirty minutes but in the end Wilbekin, Mensah-Bonsu and English gave their team a victory and covered the points difference of the first round defeat. For the winners Carl English was the top scorer with 18 points, Malik Hairston scored 16 points. Mensah-Bonsu made a double double with 16 points, 12 fouls drawn (12/17 ft), and 12 rebounds. Wilbekin had 10 points and 6 assists and Athinaiou had 14 points. For Aris Aleksandar Vezenkov had 23 points and 7 rebounds. Torey Thomas had 16 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists! AEK beat Kolossos Rodou for Basket League twenty first day. Scottie Wilbekin debuted with a victory but confused his teammates who have used to play with Mensa-Bonsu and English. Kolossos Rodou was leading the game and was close to win a crucial game. Malik Hairston with 19 points led his team to 15-30 partial score in the last quarter and AEK won. For the home team Dominic Waters had 16 points (4/10 2p), 6 assists and 5 rebounds, Ernest Scott had 8 points and 9 rebounds. AEK beat Apollon Patras for Basket League Greece 2014-2015 nineteenth day. Great road victory for AEK in Patras where Apollon is powerful. The first quarter finished with triple score and the second quarter with double score for AEK. Apollon had a terrible first half in accuracy with 1/14 three pointers and 5/18 two pointers. Apollon finished the first half with the same points (21) that just two players of AEK had scored: Dusan Sakota (10) and Pops Mensah-Bonsu (11). Apollon did not managed to counter attack in the second half and AEK won the game by 41 points! AEK had 15/28 three pointers while Apollon had 2/27! For the winners Pops Mensha-Bonsu made a double double with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Dusan Sakota had 27 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists, Carl English had 12 points and Malik Hairston had 11 points. AEK hosted and beat Panelefsiniakos for Basket League Greece 2014-2015 eighteenth day. In a three pointers contest AEK smashed Panelefsiniakos. AEK had 15/27 three pointers with Carl English having 8/9 and Tomas Delininkaitis having 4/5. AEK scored more than 100 points in the League after nine years, Dusan Sakota completed 200 victories as coach and English set the three pointers record of the season. Carl English had 28 points, Pops Mensah-Bonsu had 19 points, 7 rebounds and Malik Hairston served 5 assists. For Panelefsiniakos Looby Kurt made a double double with 19 points and 11 rebounds, Fotis Vasilopoulos scored 17 points with 5/6 three pointers and served 8 assists, and Nikola Markovic scored 14 points.

AEK beat Panionios for Basket League 2014-2015 fifteenth day. AEK beat Panionios in Nea Smyrni after 11 years but Panionios played without Tapoutos and Hancock. With five players scoring more than 10 points each, AEK did not face problems against Panionios. Pops Mensah-Bonsu had 20 points, 8 rebounds and 11 fouls drawn. Malik Hairston had 19 points, 4 rebounds and 9 fouls drawn. Carl English had 20 points and 5 assists. For Panionios William Coleman had 17 points, Justin Tubbs had 15 points and 8 fouls drawn, Yaroslav Korolev had 9 points and 6 rebounds.

AEK signed Malik Hairston

AEK signed Malik Hairston. The 27 years old American guard send his signed contract and will play for AEK BC until the end of this season. Hairston graduated from Oregon University where he played for Oregon Ducks and was drafted with the 18th pick in the second round (48th overall) of the 2008 NBA Draft by the Phoenix Suns. He was then signed by the San Antonio Spurs, where he played 62 games but only 8 minutes per game on average, so he moved to Italy for Montepaschi Siena and then for Emporio Armani Milano. In the previous season he played for Galatasary Liv in Turkey and Euroleague.
