Rethymno and Ed Daniel part ways


Rethymno and Ed Daniel part ways. The 28-year-old American parted ways with the club one month after penning a contract and will continue his career with Peristeri. Daniel penned a two-month contract with Peristeri and he will cover Jeff Allen who was injured and will stay out of action for at least a month.

Jamelle Hagins injured in the second play offs game against Kifisia. The American got a medial collateral ligament rupture. Aris and coach Priftis will not have available for the rest of the play offs a valuable player that was contributing 10.2 points and 5.52 rebounds in average.

Christos Tapoutos is out for a month with broken hand

Christos Tapoutos was named MVP of Basket League 15th day for his performance against Trikala but he will not play for about a month due to an injury. The Greek forward broke his left hand and posted his banded hand on his facebook account.

Mavroeidis is out with a fractured nose

Bad luck for Mavroeidis who will be out of games due to a fractured nose. The Greek player is in top shape leading the index rating and points in Eurocup and in Basket League! Mavroeidis will definitely miss the forthcoming game against Kifisia and his recovery will tell when he will be back.

Stomach flu knocked out PAOK

Eight players of PAOK (Dedas, Tsochlas, Schortsianitis, Vasileiadis, Tepic, Duvnjak, Markovic and Liapis) and many member of the coaching team suffer from stomach flu. The team made an official request to the Hellenic Basketball Clubs Association to postpone the forthcoming game against Panathinaikos.

Bochoridis got injured

In the recent friendly game against Partizan Lefteris Bochoridis was unlucky and got injured. The young player suffers for a fibula fracture and will be out of action for about 3 to 4 months. Bochoridis will miss the two games against Olympiacos.

Luke Hancock will miss the rest of the season due to Achilles tendon rupture. Bad luck for Hancock and Panionios. The player got injured in the last friendly game before returning to action after a minor injury. Without Hancock Panionios' struggle to avoid relegation becomes almost impossible.

Kostas Charalampidis got injured but renews with PAOK

Kostas Charalampidis got a total rupture of the patellar tendon in the last Eurocup game against Zielona Gora and will remain inactive for three to four months but PAOK BC has decided to use the option in Kostas Charalampidis' contract and hence immediately activated the second season of his contract, which is now valid through the 2015-16 season.

Christos Deligiannis in hospital with pericarditis

Christos Deligiannis is in hospital with pericarditis. The Greek player of Aries Trikala felt ill and went to hospital for medical exams. The results were pericarditis and the athlete will stay in hospital for further exams and recovery.
We wish him a fast recovery and hope to see him back soon and healthy in the basketball courts.

Nea Kifisia signed Dimitris Mavroeidis

Nea Kifisia signed Dimitris Mavroeidis. The Greek center last played for Olympiacos in the season 2012-2013 when he won the Euroleague but since then he suffered from injuries. Now he is healthy and back to action signing an one year contract with the team of Nea Kifisia. Mavroeidis has also played for Bilbao in Spain and Panionios, Maroussi and Peristeri in Grece.

Pops Mensah-Bonsu failed medical exams and won't play for Olympiacos as announced. Mensah-Bonsu suffered from knee and shoulder injuries that seem to create problems. Now Olympiacos has to keep searching players to form the roster for the new season.

Tony Crocker of Nea Kifisia AENK had a knee surgery. Crocker is the top scorer of Nea Kifisia but couldn't play for the past two weeks due to an injury of meniscus. The medical team of AENK decided that Crocker should have a surgery now so that he will be ready for the play offs.

Giorgos Printezis missed couple games with Olympiacos because he was complaining about pain in his back. After medical exams the doctors found that Printezis has a broken rib and was playing with it for about two months. Printezis will probably won't play in the forthcoming Euroleague game with Olympiacos in order to recover.

Roko-Leni Ukić returned in Athens after Eurobasket in Slovenia with an injury in Achilles tendon that will leave him out of training for six weeks. That is the second injury of Panathinaikos' player in preparation after Stephan Lasme. Ukić won't play in Greek Basketball League day one against Olympiacos.

Panathinaikos BC to play first friendly game against Apollon Patras in Athens

Panathinaikos BC will play its first friendly game for the season in Athens against Apollon Patras. Lasme and Gist won't participate due to injuries and Fotsis, Bramos, Mavrokefalidis, Maciulis, Ukic as they participate in Eurobasket Slovenia. After this friendly game Panathinaikos will begin preparation for its trip to China on 11-17 September.
