Kifisia signed Rob Lowery

Great addition for Kifisia as the team signed Rob Lowery! The 28 years old American returns to Greece. Lowery was signed by Korivos Amaliadas in September 2014 and he had a great season until he left the team for VEF Riga. When Lowery left Korivos he was the fourth top scorer and the first in steals in the Basket League., averaging 16.8 points, 5 rebounds and 2.4 steals per game. Lowery will replace Chad Frazier that was released by the club.

Olympiacos beat Laboral Kutxa, equalizing the second day defeat difference. Bourousis made another double double with 16 points and 15 rebounds, Hunter collected 10 rebounds, Spanoulis scored 10 points and got a light injury.
First road win for Panathinaikos, that faced problems to keep the difference. Diamantidis with 0/4 field goals and 0 points needs a fresh start.

Three defeats for the Greek teams in the seventh day of the Eurocup. Galatasaray beat AEK and Zenit St. Petersburg beat PAOK like in the Eurocup second day but Buducnost beat Aris in Podgorica and covered the first game difference. Bad game for Aris that scored only 6 points in the first quarter with Okaro White having 0/11 field goals and Jerel McNeal had 1/14 field goals.

Kolossos Rodou signed Christos Saloustros

Kolossos Rodou signed Christos Saloustros. The 25 years old Greek forward had signed a three years old contract with PAOK but he was not in Soulis Markopoulos' current plans so he was released and agreed terms with Kolossos Rodou. Saloustros has played for Sporting, Filathlitikos, Panionios and PAOK where he averaged 3.7 points and 3.7 rebounds in the previous season.

Doukas agreed terms with Savvas Symeonidis

Doukas (A2 League) agreed terms with coach Savvas Symeonidis. The 46 years old Greek coach had worked for nine teams in local leagues, C and B national leagues with Doukas being the second A2 team he managed, after Dafni in 2006-2007 season. The first game of the new coach will be a tough challenge against undefeated Faros Keratsiniou.

Apollon Patras agreed terms with Kevin Dillard

Apollon Patras agreed terms with Kevin Dillard. The 26 years old American guard played two years for Southern Illinois Salukis and two years for Dayton Flyers where he graduated. In his rookie season he played in France for Pau-Orthez and in Latvia for VEF Riga. This season Dillard played in France for Cholet and the team agreed for a mutual termination of his contract.

Apollon Patras agreed terms with Devon Saddler

Apollon Patras agreed terms with Devon Saddler and he will replace one of the Americans released this week. The 24 years old American graduated from Delaware where in his last season averaged 19.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.6 assists. In the previous season Saddler played in Serie B of Italy for Paffoni Fulgor Omegna averaging 17 points, 4 rebounds, 2.5 assists in 30 games. Saddler started this season in Croatia with Cibona Zagreb but he did not play any official game. Saddler will meet with Jamelle Hagins in Greece, they played together at Delaware for three seasons.


Apollon Patras released Petty and Duncan

Coach Mexas went to Apollon Patras in order to change the status of the team, but the heavy home defeat by Arkadikos was another call to action.
Apollon Patras released Perry Petty after the game and yesterday the team decided to release Darren Duncan.

Petty played 7 games with Apollon in Basket League Greece 2015-2016 averaging 5.71 points, 2.57 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 14 minutes per game.

Duncan in 7 games averaged 6.14 points, 2 rebounds and 4.4 assists in 22 minutes per game.

AEK signed DJ Cooper

It is official, AEK signed DJ Cooper! The talks and rumours were spread during the last week but today it become official and AEK announced the agreement with DJ Cooper. The American knows the Greek League since he has played for PAOK and he was named Best Guard of Basket League 2013-2014 and he broke the assists record of the Basket League Greece in his first professional season. DJ Cooper had a great game against AEK in the recent Eurocup game with 27 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists. Another advantage is that he holds a Bosnian passport too.

Greece beat Switzerland for EuroBasket Women Qualifiers

Greece beat Switzerland for the F Group of the EuroBasket Women 2017 Qualifiers in a game that took place in Chalkida, Greece. Great performance by Stella Kaltsidou with 23 points (8/13 FG), Kosma collected 9 rebounds, Chatzinikolaou served 6 assists and Maltsi 5 assists, Dimitrakou scored 14 points and collected 5 rebounds but had 2/7 three pointers. For Switzerland Giroud made 8 turnovers and had 0/8 field goals, a bad game except the 11 rebounds she collected. Rol had 7/12 field goals.

Panathinaikos - PAOK game postponed due to flu

PAOK team has notified the Hellenic Basketball Clubs Association that the majority of the players and the technical crew suffers from stomach flu, so the association decided to postpone the game of the seventh day of Basket League Greece 2015-2016 between Panathinaikos and PAOK for a future date to be announced.

Diamantakos back to Kifisia cannot move to Apollon

Kifisia had agreed and Diamantakos moved to Apollon Patras but the transfer seems to stuck in transfers' rules. In Basket League Greece one team can give or accept only one player from another league team and Kifisia has already given Mavroeidis to AEK. The deal is stuck although Kifisia does not count on Diamantakos and Apollon is in need of the player.

AEK is approaching DJ Cooper while will probably release Armstead. Armstead was signed by AEK but came with a fracture injury so the team will probably release him and will sign DJ Cooper. Mavroeidis is out with a fractured nose

Bad luck for Mavroeidis who will be out of games due to a fractured nose. The Greek player is in top shape leading the index rating and points in Eurocup and in Basket League! Mavroeidis will definitely miss the forthcoming game against Kifisia and his recovery will tell when he will be back.

Stomach flu knocked out PAOK

Eight players of PAOK (Dedas, Tsochlas, Schortsianitis, Vasileiadis, Tepic, Duvnjak, Markovic and Liapis) and many member of the coaching team suffer from stomach flu. The team made an official request to the Hellenic Basketball Clubs Association to postpone the forthcoming game against Panathinaikos.

Kifisia signed Dimitris Stamatis

Kifisia signed Dimitris Stamatis. The 19 years old Greek guard is a member of all youth national teams and was the top scorer of A' ESKANA championship with Evriali Glyfadas. He started his professional career with Panionios where he averaged 4.18 points and 1.23 assists in 22 games.

In the first day games Trabzonspor beat Aris but with lower difference, Krasny Otkyabr Volgograd beat AEK by only two points (again in over time), and PAOK beat Szolnoki Olaj by 3 points. Steve Giatzoglou is Kavala's new coach

Kavala counts only one victory after six games in Basket League 2015-2016 so the team and coach Giannis Tzimas parted ways. Tzimas was member of Kavala's technical team for three years and helped the team get promoted in Basket League. The new coach of Kavala is Steve Giatzoglou. The 66 years old American Greek coach has coached Olympiacos, Aris, Iraklis, AEK and Aigaleo in Greece and Goyang Orions in Korea.

Giorgos Diamantakos joins Apollon Patras

The young Greek center parted ways with Kifisia and will continue with Apollon Patras. Diamantakos debuted in Basket League with Panathinaikos against Apollon Patras and then signed for Darüşşafaka in Turkey. He started this season on loan to Kifisia but played only four minutes against Trikala (scoring 2 points). He is a member of the Greece U20 National Team.

AEK signed Malcolm Armstead

AEK signed Malcolm Armstead. The 26 years old American guard will replace Philip Scrubb. Armstead played in Chipola College, Oregon, and graduated from Wichita State. He started his professional career in Slovenia for Krka Novo Mesto where he won the one championship, two cups and one super cup. Armstead started this season in Russia for Avtodor Saratov where he averaged 13.7 points and 5.4 assists for the domestic league and 13 points and 4.5 points in Eurocup. With Avtodor Saratov he played against PAOK and scored 13 points.

Kifisia agreed terms with Andreas Glyniadakis

Kifisia agreed terms with Andreas Glyniadakis. The 34 years old Greek center was called by Kifisia to replace Dimitris Mavroeidis who moved to AEK. Glyniadakis started his professional career with Panathinaikos and has played for Panellinios, Peristeri, AEK, Maroussi and Olympiacos in Greece. He has won Euroleague twice, in 2000 with Panathinaikos and 2012 with Olympiacos. Glyniadakis was selected by the Detroit Pistons with the 58th pick in the 2003 NBA Draft, and has played 13 games in the NBA with Seattle SuperSonics and in the NBA D-League with Roanoke Dazzle and Albuquerque Thunderbirds. In Europe he has also played in Kazakhstan with Astana, in Lithuania with Lietuvos Rytas, in Turkey with Royal Halı Gaziantep, and he started this season in Switzerland for Lions de Genève.

AEK signed Dimitris Mavroeidis

AEK signed Dimitris Mavroeidis. The 30 years old Greek has a great season start with Kifisia averaging 14.2 points and 10.2 rebounds (First in League) in 5 games (second in league ranking), and he was named MVP of first day. Mavroeidis played for Peristeri, Panionios and Marousi in Greece before moving to Spain for Bilbao. In 2013 he started the season with Olympiacos, but he was released on December due to injuries and since then he was playing for Nea Kifisia. Great acquisition for AEK, since Mavroeidis and Mavrokefalidis lead the Basket League rankings, rebounds and points categories.

Kifisia signed Roscoe Smith. The 24 years old American forward graduated from UNLV (University of Nevada) and in the previous season he played in NBA D-League for Los Angeles D-Fenders. With D-Fenders Smith was named to the NBA D-League All-Rookie Third Team and to the NBA D-League All-Star. Smith started this season in Israel for Ironi Nes Ziona where he played only 3 games. Smith signed by Kifisia in order to replace Dimitris Mavroeidis who left the club for AEK Athens.

PAOK signed Sofoklis Schortsianitis

PAOK signed Sofoklis Schortsianitis. The 30 years old Greek Cameroonian center started the season in Serbia for Red Star but the team was not satisfied with his performance and released him. Sofo started his career in Thessaloniki with Iraklis and has also played for Aris, Olympiakos, Panathinaikos in Greece, Pallacanestro Cantu in Italy and Maccabi Tel Aviv in Israel.
