Giorgos Kalaitzakis Joins Lietkabelis

Giorgos Kalaitzakis is embarking on a new chapter in his basketball career with his recent signing to Lietkabelis. The Lithuanian team announced the acquisition of the 25-year-old Greek guard/forward on July 5th, marking an exciting addition to their roster.

In their official announcement, Lietkabelis expressed their enthusiasm for their new player:

Giorgos Kalaitzakis' Career


Born on January 2, 1999, in Heraklion, Greece, Kalaitzakis stands at 6 feet 8 inches (2.03 meters) and plays as a shooting guard and small forward. His journey in professional basketball began with Panathinaikos Athens, where he played sporadically from the 2015-2016 season through the 2018-2019 season. His performances, although limited in minutes, showcased his potential.

In the 2019-2020 season, Kalaitzakis had his first stint in Lithuania with Nevezis. During this season, he demonstrated his scoring and playmaking abilities, averaging 11.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game. His experience in Lithuania was a formative period that helped him develop his game further.

Kalaitzakis returned to Panathinaikos for the 2020-2021 season, contributing 3.9 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game. He then ventured to the NBA, signing with the Milwaukee Bucks for the 2021-2022 season. His time with the Bucks was brief, but he also played for their G-League affiliate, the Wisconsin Herd, where he averaged 11.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game in three appearances.

Kalaitzakis continued his NBA journey with the Oklahoma City Thunder and their G-League team, the Oklahoma City Blue. With the Thunder, he had a standout performance, averaging 17.5 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game over four games.

Returning to Greece for the 2022-2023 season, Kalaitzakis played for Panathinaikos once more, contributing 6.7 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game. His most recent season was with the Tigers Tübingen in Germany, where he averaged 10.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game.

Promitheas signed Terell Parks

Promitheas signed Terell Parks. The 27-year-old American center graduated from Western Illinois and has played in Poland with SKK Kotwica Kolobrzeg, in Slovenia for KK Tajfun Sentjur, in Cyrpus for Anagennisi Germasogeias and Keravnos Strovolou. In the last season with Keravnos Parks averaged 13.9 points and 8.6 rebounds in the domestic league and 8.8 points and 8.3 rebounds in Eurocup. Parks was voted as the best defender of the Eurocup 2018.

AEK signed Howard Sant-Roos

AEK signed Howard Sant-Roos. The 27-year-old Cuban forward became the second Cuban to ever play in the Greek League after Andrés Guibert who played for Sporting, Apollon Patras, Near East, Iraklio, and KAOD. Sant-Roos started his professional career in Italian League C with Bernareggio. After playing for another League C team Broni, Sant-Roos moved to Germany with Phantoms Braunschweig and a year later he moved back to Italy for Assigeco Casalpusterlengo. In 2017 Sant-Roos moved to the Czech Republic for ČEZ Nymburk where he played two season winning twice the Czech League. In the last season, he played in Turkey with Darüşşafaka where he won the Eurocup. In 29 games for the domestic league, Sant-Roos averaged 7.3 points and 4.3 rebounds while in 21 games for the Eurocup he averaged 8.6 points and 4.2 rebounds.

AEK agreed terms with Jurij Zdovc

AEK agreed terms with Jurij (Jure) Zdovc. The 49 years old Slovenian is the new coach of AEK, replacing Dragan Sakota. Zdovc signed a 2.5 years contract (1.5 + 1) until the summer of 2018.
Zdovc has played for Iraklis and Panionios in Greece, and was the coach of Iraklis in 2005-2006 season.

As a player he has won one Euroleague, two French Championships, two Slovenian Championships, three Slovenian Cups.
As a coach he has won one Croatian and three Slovenian Cups, and one Slovenian and one Bosnian Championships. In 2012 he was named coach of the year for the Eurocup with Spartak St. Petersburg. Before AEK Zdovc was the head coach of Gaziantep in Turkey, with Stefanos Dedas being his assistant coach. Dedas did not follow Zdovc in AEK, as he is now the head coach of Gaziantep.

Panelefsiniakos signed Frank Robinson

Panelefsiniakos signed Frank Robinson. The 30 years old American guard participated three times in the NBA Summer Leagu, 2008 with Atlanta Hawks, 2010 with Los Angeles Lakers and 2012 with Golden State Warriors but did not make it to the NBA. Robinson had played in Slovenia for Olimpija Ljubljana, in Poland for Prokom and in Finland for Bisons Loimaa where he played against Panionios for the Eurocup.

Argyris Pedoulakis is Unics Kazan's new coach

Argyris Pedoulakis is Unics Kazan's new head coach. Pedoulakis will replace Andrea Trinchieri and will find three Greek players in the team, Nikos Zisis, Ian Vougioukas and Kostas Kaimakoglou. This is the first time Pedoulakis will work abroad and his first goal will be to get Unics to Euroleague through qualification games.

Panionios lost from Nizhny Novgorod in Eurocup Last 32

Panionios lost from Nizhny Novgorod in the first game of Group L for Eurocup Last 32. This was the third victory of Nizhny Novgorod against Greek teams this season, after defeating PAOK in Thessaloniki and in Russia. Nizhny led the score from the first quarter with Panionios making its counter attack in the third quarter. For Panionios Errick McCollum scored 31 points, Landon Milbourne 15 points and Kevin Langford 10 points but that was all. Nizhny had Luke Babbitt and Dijon Thompson scoring 17 points each with Taylor Rochestie following with 16 points.

Panionios defeated Besiktas for Eurocup

Panionios hosted and defeated Besiktas for Eurocup. Besiktas had defeated Panionios in the first game in Istanbul, Turkey but the Greek team couldn't surpass the difference in the second game. Panionios started the game better and took the lead. In the first half the Greek team didn't face troubles against Besiktas but in the third quarter Colton Iverson balanced the score. Fourth quarter started with Panionios running a 7-0 partial score before Chris Lofton scored a three pointer. The American players of Panionios, Errick McCollum, Marc Carter and Landon Milbourne scored two points each and Panionios created a safe difference of nine points four minutes before the end.

Panionios defeated Neptūnas for Eurocup

Panionios defeated Neptūnas Klaipeda for Eurocup in Lithuania and covered the difference that lost in the first game. Marc Carter and Errick McCollum lead Panionios to the victory with 29 and 20 points. For Neptūnas Justas Sinica scored 19 points and Mažeika Martynas 16 points. Great victory for the Greek team which leads the group.

Panionios defeated Spartak St. Petersburg for Eurocup

Panionios hosted and defeated Spartak St. Petersburg for Eurocup. Panionios won the first game with one point but the second game was easier for the Greek team. Panionios took the lead from the first quarter but in the third quarter Spartak counter attacked and equalized the score. In the last quarter Panionios managed to win Spartak St. Petersburg for second time. Saloustros finished the game with 9 points and 9 rebounds. Errick McCollum scored 24 points. Steven Burtt scored 26 points while Donald McGrath and Jared Homan scored each 16 points. For Spartak St. Petersbourg only 5 players scored in the game.

Radnicki Kragujevac defeated Panionios for Eurocup

Radnicki Kragujevac hosted and defeated Panionios for Eurocup. In the first game Panionios won in its home Radnicki Kragujevac with 5 points but at away game lost by 7, so in case of a tie in points Panionios will have a disadvantage. Mouphtaou Yarou made a double double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Yarou had a double double in the first game too. Errick McColum scored 27 points, one point more than the first game but this time weren't enough.

Panionios defeated Bisons Loimaa for Eurocup fifth day

Panionios hosted and defeated Bisons Loimaa for Eurocup fifth day. The team from Finland debuted this year in the Eurocup. Both teams had 2 victories and 2 defeated in the first games. The team from Finland started the game with an offensive attack and finished first quarter ahead by five points. Panionios replied with a massive second quarter. The team from Athens created a difference of 6-8 points which kept until the end. Keving Langford was the first scorer for Panionios and Landon Milbourne was helpful in scoring and rebounds. Mikko Koivosto played 30 minutes and scored 10 points. Billy Keys played 31 minutes without scoring, since he had 0/5 shots and 5 turnovers.

Nizhny Novgorod hosted PAOK for Eurocup fifth day. Both teams had 3 victories in the first 4 games. PAOK team had a long trip to Russia, which tired the players and had an impact in the game. Only Michalis Tsairelis scored more than 10 points for PAOK while DJ Cooper and Kostas Charalampidis weren't productive. For Nizhny Novgorod Dijon Thomson made a double double with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

PAOK defeated Khimik Yuzhne for Eurocup fourth day

PAOK hosted Khimik Yuzhne for the fourth day of Eurocup. PAOK started the game with 5/7 three pointers, DJ Cooper 3/3 and Tsairelis 2/2, in the first quarter. For Khimik Paul Delaney did the scoring. First quarter finished with 5 points difference for PAOK. Khimik Yuzhne made an 8-0 run in the third quarter and took the lead in score with 39-42. DJ Cooper with a three pointer and an assist to Bogris gave the lead back to their team. PAOK counter attack in the end of the third quarter gave its broadest difference of 8 points.

Besiktas Integral Forex Istanbul hosted and defeated Panionios Athens for the fourth day of Eurocup. Both teams had 2 wins and 1 defeat until the game. McCollum was the scoring leader of Panionios but his team could only follow Besiktas for three quarters. Besiktas collected 41 rebounds, 15 of which were offensive. Spartak St. Petersburg lost from Panionios second day Eurocup

Spartak St. Petersburg hosted and was defeated by Panionios for the second day of the Eurocup. Spartak St. Petersbourg won Besiktas Integral Forex Istanbul with 58 - 62 for the first day, while Panionios won Radnicki Kragujevac with 77-72. Jared Homan made a double double with 16 points and 10 rebounds but wasn't enough for his team. For Panionios McCollum, Carter and Milbourne scored 57 points in total while Langford was negative with 0/7 shots in 21 minutes, and Simtsak 0/4 in 19 minutes.

Alba Fehervar lost by PAOK for the second day of Eurocup

Alba Fehervar hosted and lost by PAOK for the second day of Eurocup by one point 88-89. Alba Fehervar lost in first day by Nizhny Novgorod with 82 - 64, while PAOK won Buducnost Voli Podgorica with 85-84. PAOK doubled his last minute and by one point victories in Eurocup. Kemp scored 26 points but missed the last shot which let PAOK win the game by one.

Panionos wins Radnicki Kragujevac for Eurocup first day

 Panionos hosted and defeated Radnicki Kragujevac for the first day of Eurocup by 77-72. Yarou had a great double double with 14 points and 16(!) rebounds but wasn't enough for Radincki. McCollum was the leader of Panionios for another game with 27 points and Duvnjak followed with 19 points. Quarters' scores: 2-15, 28-25, 44-48, 77-72

PAOK defeated Buducnost for Eurocup first day

PAOK hosted and defeated Buducnost Voli Podgorica for the first day of the Eurocup. The match was unpredictable till the last second, when DJ Cooper scored a three points shot and gave his team the victory. Bogris had a great game, specially in the first half but he missed two free throws in the last minute which could have been crucial. Bogris scored 28 points and DJ Cooper scored 16 point, with 3/3 three points shots, plus served 8 assists (like he did in the Greek League premiere). Buducnost will only keep Jeleel Akindele's double double, who scored 12 points and collected 12 rebounds.
