Olympiacos beat KAOD in Drama for Basket League eighth day. Olympiacos played tight defense on KAOD who had 0/6 three pointers in the first half. Dimitris Agravanis had 10 points in seven minutes in the first half with 1/1 two pointers, 2/2 three pointers and 1/1 free throws. Othello Hunter had 9 rebounds out of 19 team rebounds in the first half. KAOD had 0/3 three pointers in the third quarter but improved and with partial score 20-14 lowered the difference to 17 points. In the last quarter KAOD did not complete its counter attack and Olympiacos won by 18 points. KAOD could not expect more with 3/13 three pointers and 18/43 two pointers. Retyhmno Aegean hosted and beat Apollon Patras for Basket League eighth day. In the first quarter Apollon Patras made a 9-0 run from 10-9 to 10-18 and finished it with two points lead, 21-23. Apollon Patras was leading the score in the second and third quarters but in the end Rethymno Aegean won the game leaving the visitors without any road win in the Basket League 2014-2015. For the winners Mouhammad Faye made a double double with 20 points and 13 rebounds. Complete performance by Vincent Council who had 17 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Panionios hosted and beat Aris for Basket League eighth day. Luke Hancock had a massive first quarter with 5/5 field goals, 1/1 free throws and with 13 points led Panionios.Panionios kept this small lead in the whole game and beat Aris easier than expected. This was the second win in a row for Panionios, after six defeats, but it was the first against a strong opponent. For the winners Luke Hancock finished the game with 24 points, Yaroslav Korolev had 10 points and 5 rebounds, Tony Woods had 8 points and 6 rebounds, William Coleman had 6 rebounds and Vasilis Xanthopoulos had 4 assists. Panathinaikos hosted and beat Bayern Munich for Euroleague seventh day. The Greek champions stayed undefeated in their home and qualified to Euroleague Top 16. Panathinaikos finished the first half without any turnovers, flawless game by the greens. AJ Slaugher had a good day and Loukas Mavrokefalidis played for Esteban Batista too. For Bayern Munich Bo McCalebb had 15 points, John Bryant had 9 points and 9 rebounds, Robin Benzing had 14 points and 6 rebounds. Heiko Schaffartzik had 0/6 three pointers and James Gist had 1/8 field goals. Panathinaikos is getting more and more points by the new Greek players and the team seems to roll.

Kostas Charalampidis got injured but renews with PAOK

Kostas Charalampidis got a total rupture of the patellar tendon in the last Eurocup game against Zielona Gora and will remain inactive for three to four months but PAOK BC has decided to use the option in Kostas Charalampidis' contract and hence immediately activated the second season of his contract, which is now valid through the 2015-16 season.

Zielona Góra beat PAOK for Eurocup seventh day

Zielona Góra hosted and beat PAOK for Eurocup seventh day. PAOK started with a 6-0 run but the home team took the lead before the end of the first quarter taking advantage of the technical foul that Odum was charged for flopping. The game was tight but PAOK was charged with three technical fouls for flopping and Jake Odum was sent off with expulsion due to two technical fouls. In the last minute Marc Carter made the score 78-75 but that was all for PAOK. The Greek team lost but Zielona Góra did not cover the difference of the first game.
Kostas Charalampidis got injured and he may be out of action for some weeks.

KAOD had Eric Atkins with 18 points and 6 assists, Rob Loe with 8 points and 9 rebounds, Guy-Marc Michel had 6 rebounds and 9 rebounds. For Panathinaikos all available players played and scored. George Papagiannis debuted and scored his first two points. Apollon Patras dominated first quarter and finished it with 15 points lead. Aries Trikala improved its offence in the second quarter but Apollon Patras preserved the difference. Brandon Penn finished first half with 15 points while the visitors had 2/11 three pointers. Visitors improved in the second half and started third quarter with a 9-0 run. Three minutes before the end the score was 73-70 but Apollon Patras with a 10-0 run won a game in which the home team never lost the lead in score. Korivos started the game with a 5-14 run and finished first half leading the score by four points but in the second quarter Panionios balanced the game. With a 10-2 run Panionios finished first half leading by four points with Yaroslav Korolev making another great game. Giorgos Diamantopoulos returns to Panionios

Giorgos Diamantopoulos returns to Panionios. The 34 years old Greek player returned to Panionios as he wished. Diamantopoulos started his career from Papagou and continued with Panionios where he was named Greek League Top Scorer of the season 2002-2003. Diamantopoulos played a year for Olympiacos before returning to Panionios. Then he left Greece and continued his career in Italy for Roseto Basket, then Spain second division for La Palma, Russia for Samara, back to Greece for Kolossos and Maroussi, then Cyprus for Achilleas and Switzerland for Vacallo Basket. In the previous season Diamantopoulos played in the third division of Greece for Doxa Lefkadas, helping the team getting promoted. Diamantopoulos will not debut against Korivos Amaliadas today.

Ogo Adegboye renews with Aris for season

Ogo Adegboye signed an one month contract to replace the injured Torey Thomas but his performance led Aris team to renew his contract for the whole season. In four games with Aris Adegboye averages 11.25 points, 1.75 rebounds and 1 steal.

AEK released David Kyles

AEK released David Kyles. AEK signed the player on September but the new coach Dragan Šakota is not satisfied with his performance so the two sides agreed on mutual termination of his contract. Kyles played 4 games with AEK in the Basket League 2014-2015 averaging 5 points, 1.75 rebounds, 1.5 assists in 19 minutes per game.

Panathinaikos beat Turow Zgorzelec for Euroleague sixth day

Panathinaikos beat Turow Zgorzelec in Poland for Euroleague sixth day. This was the first away victory for Panathinaikos in Euroleague 2014-2015. Panathinaikos had 23/28 free throws and 8 rebounds more than Turow. Great game for Loukas Mavrokefalidis who had 21 points (5/6 2p, 1/1 3p, 8/8 free throws), 6 rebounds and 2 assists. Nikos Pappas also had a great game with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists. Bad game for AJ Slaughter who had 0/5 field goals and 4 personal fouls. For Turow Tony Taylor and Chris Wright had 13 points each, Damian Kulig had 11 points but also 5 turnovers. Panathinaikos made its first away win with Diamantidis playing only for 27 minutes and almost secured next round promotion.

Olympiacos hosted and beat Valencia for Euroleague sixth day. Olympiacos expanded its victory strike to 6-0 but it needed a free throw from Vasilis Spanoulis 11 seconds before the end in order to beat Valencia who was a close to a great victory. For the winners Spanoulis had 15 points and 7 assists, Dimitris Agravanis had 8 points and 10 rebounds, Bryant Dunston had 14 points. For Valencia Pau Ribas, Bojan Dubljevic and Vladimir Lucic had 16 points each.

Aries Trikala signed Adnan Hodžić

Aries Trikala signed Adnan Hodžić. The 26 years old American Bosnian is 2.04 meter high and member of the Bosnia and Herzegovina national basketball team. In the previous season Hodžić played in Qatar for Al Arabi averaging 20.9 points and 10.3 rebounds in 16 games. He graduated from Lipscomb Univercity where he played in the NCAA and was named Atlantic Sun Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Year 2010 and AP honorable mention All-American 2010. After USA Hodžić played in Germany for Walter Tigers Tübingen and in Switzerland for BBC Monthey.

Pınar Karşıyaka beat PAOK in Thessaloniki for Eurocup sixth day

Pınar Karşıyaka beat PAOK in Thessaloniki for Eurocup sixth day and equalized the defeat in Izmir in the first round game. PAOK was leading the score in first quarters. The game was interrupted at 32-25 for due to fans holding an insulting banner and later while the score was 66-60 Karşıyaka's coach Ufuk Sarıca was sent off due to complaining but his team made an 8-0 run and took the scoring lead. Dixon made the score 70-75 on 38th minute when the game was once more interrupted by the referees and the final score was 74-79 for the visitors. For PAOK the captain Charalampidis had 18 points and 5 rebounds, Jake Odum had 10 and 6 assists. For Pınar Karşıyaka Darryl Strawberry had 23 points, Bobby Dixon had 16 points and 8 assists. PAOK had a great chance to secure the second place of the group but with only 9 points in the last quarter missed it.

Olympiacos beat Rethymno Aegean in Rethymno for Basket League sixth day. The coach of Olympiacos Giannis Sfairopoulos was not at his bench due to illness. Olympiacos started the game with a 9-0 run but Rethymno managed to be competitive up to the end. The second and third quarters finished with the score difference below three points but in the fourth quarter Olympiacos allowed Rethymno to score only 5 points and won the game. Rethymno was poor at three pointers, 2/22 shots. For Olympiacos Bryant Dunston and Oliver Lafayette had 11 points each, Vangelis Mantzaris had 9 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists, Brent Petway had 7 rebounds and 5 blocks. For Rethymno Aegean Vincent Council had 16 points, Mouhammad Faye had 13 rebounds and 7 points, Trevis Simpson had 10 points.

AEK beat Apollon Patras for Basket League sixth day

AEK hosted and beat Apollon Patras for Basket League sixth day. In Dragan Šakota's debut as the coach of AEK in the Basket League his team managed to beat Apollon Patras in a very tight game. AEK shot many three pointers but was not accurate, 9/36, but had more rebounds and less turnovers than Apollon Patras. Dragan's son Dušan Šakota and Carl English were the leaders for the winners with 19 and 21 points respectively. Nontas Papantoniou served 9 assists, Milan Milošević collected 13 rebounds and Tomas Delininkaitis had 0/7 three pointers. For Apollon Patras Muhammad El-Amin had 23 points, Toarlyn Fitzpatrick had 13 points, 7 rebounds and Nikos Argyropoulos had 10 points and 4 assists. Giannis Georgalis did not score in 20 minutes before being fouled out.

Korivos Amaliadas beat Aris for Basket League sixth day

Korivos Amaliadas hosted and beat Aris for Basket League sixth day. With Pasalic, Reed and Thomas Aris started the game with a 4-20 score in the first five minutes. Pasalic had 8 points with 3/3 shots and 1/1 free throw in the first quarter. Korivos Amaliadas improved in the second quarter and approached Aris. In the half time Rob Lowery had 15 points, Guillem Rubio had 12 points and 6 rebounds, Muhamed Pašalić had 17 points and Torey Thomas had 11 points! In the second half the home team counter attacked. First it lowered the difference to three points in the third quarter and won the game in the end by four points. Korivos had 24/33 free throws and 45 rebounds! Great victory for Korivos Amaliadas who managed not to collapse after a very bad first quarter. Great game by Rob Lowery who had 19 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 blocks! Sasa Vasiljevic added 15 points, Guille Rubio had 15 points and 8 rebounds, Darrius Garret had 8 rebounds, 6 points and 4 blocks. KAOD hosted and beat Panionios for Basket League sixth day. Panionios had 3/12 two points shots in the first quarter and KAOD did not shoot any three pointers. Panionios improved in the second quarter and balanced the game. KAOD had 4/6 three pointers in the second quarter and Panionios had 5/5 two pointers. Yaroslav Korolev had 10 points and Tony Woods had 5 points and 5 rebounds in the first half. Panionios continue its counter attack and the third quarter finished with the visitors leading the score by 4 points. Like in the previous game against PAOK Panionios collapsed in the last quarter and the team of KAOD won by 11 points. For KAOD Rob Loe had 16 points and 5 rebounds, Linos Chrysikopoulos had 11 points, Obie Trotter had 7 assists and 9 points. Olympiacos beat Galatasaray for Euroleague fifth day

Olympiacos hosted and beat Galatasaray for Euroleague fifth day. Olympiacos continues undefeated in Euroleague 2014-2015 with five victories in five games. WIth double shot accuracy and half turnovers than its opponent Olympiacos could not lose the game. Olympiacos had 29/41, 70% two points accuracy while Galatasaray had 14/37, a poor 37%. Olympiacos finished the game with only 6 turnovers and 26 assists while Galatasaray had only 9 assists. The reds were leading the game with ease and in the last four minutes with a 26-1 run they smashed Galatasaray with 27 points difference! Othello Hunter finished the game with a double double, 17 points and 10 rebounds. Vasilis Spanoulis had 16 points and 7 assists, flawless game for Vangelis Mantzaris who had 15 points with 6/6 shots.

Coach Mexas renews with KAOD for one more year

KAOD counts only one victory in five games but the board feels confident with coach Kostas Mexas and renewed his contract for one more year, until the summer of 2016. Mexas signed his first contract as head coach this summer with KAOD but he has been in the team since 2011. KAOD board made a rare move in a League where five coaches have already been fired within first five games.

AEK part ways with Rick Jackson

AEK part ways with Rick Jackson. AEK had agreed terms with the player but one day after the team announced that they won't offer a contract to the American due to poor physical condition. This is the second time within a month, after Kevinn Pinkney, that AEK agrees terms with a player and did not pen a contract.

Panathinaikos renews Jānis Blūms contract for two years

Panathinaikos signed Jānis Blūms with a 1+1 months contract in order to replace the injured DeMarcus Nelson but the Lithuanian had good games and the Greek champions announced today the renewal of his contract for two years. The contract offers Panathinaikos a renewal option on 2015 summer..

PAOK hosted and beat Budućnost Voli Podgorica for Eurocup fifth day. Budućnost took an early lead with 9-7 but PAOK made a 13-0 run and did not lose the scoring lead again in the game. Julian Vaughn had 16 points and 7 rebounds, Kevin Langford had 11 points and 8 rebounds, Marc Carter had 19 points, 4 rebounds and 3 steals. For Budućnost William Sheehey had 15 points, Cedomir Vitkovic had 11 points and Aleksandar Chapin had 6 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. PAOK with 4 victories in 5 games is in now in the second place of Eurocup Group F.

Vasilis Xanthopoulos turned down Andorra

The Greek player had an offer by Bàsquet Club MoraBanc Andorra to replace the injured Victor Sada but he preferred to stay in Panionios. The team approached Xanthopoulos since he is experienced in the Spanish ACB Liga with Obradoiro and would have another Greek (Giorgos Bogris) in the team.

Panionios agreed terms with William Coleman

Panionios signed William Coleman. The 26 years old American forward returns to Greece after 2012-2013 season when he played in the Basket League for Kavala with Vangelis Alexandris as head coach. Coleman started his career in Miami Dade and besides Kavala has also played in Israel for Hapoel Holon, in FYROM for Rabotnicki, in Montenegro for Buducnost Voli Podgorica and in France for Le Mans.

AEK agreed terms with Rick Jackson

AEK signed Rick Jackson. The 25 years old center graduated from Syracuse where he played four years and then was undrafted in the 2011 NBA Draft. Jackson started his career in France for Chorale Roanne Basket. After a year in France he returned to USA for Austin Toros in the NBA D-League. In the previous season Jackson played in Israel for Hapoel Gilboa Galil. Jackson has also played on Team USA (Under 18) at the semi-annual Albert Schweitzer Tournament in Mannheim, Germany in 2006. One day after the agreement AEK announced that the team will not offer a contract to Jackson.

Kolossos Rodou signed Aris Lykogiannis as head coach

Kolossos Rodou signed Aris Lykogiannis as its new head coach. Lykogiannis had worked for Sporting, Pagrati in Greece and Solna Vikings in Sweden but his best work was with Ikaros Chalkidas (former Ikaros Kallitheas) from 2009 to 2012. Ikaros Chalkidas hired him a year ago to replace Kalafatakis but released him only two months later. The Greek coach will change the team roster since the team does not seem satisfied with its foreign players except Mike James.

Nea Kifisia signed Nikos Barlos

Nea Kifisia signed Nikos Barlos. The 35 years old Greek player was searching for his new team, first he agreed terms with Panionios but he did not played for the club since it failed to get a valid license on time, and the player was in talks with Apollon Patras and Rethymno Aegean. Finally Barlos agreed terms and signed a new contract with Nea Kifisia where he was playing in the previous season.

Kolossos Rodou released Michalis Koutalianos

Kolossos Rodou released Michalis Koutalianos. The Greek coach was member of Kolossos' technical staff since 2003 and in March 2014 he was promoted to head coach when Dimitris Priftis left the club for Panathinaikos.

AEK signed Dragan Šakota as head coach

AEK signed Dragan Šakota as head coach. The 62 years old Greek-Serbian coach returns to AEK after 11 years. Šakota started his coaching career in Yugoslavia for IMT Beograd, Zadar and Cibona before moving to Greece for PAOK, Apollon Patras, Iraklis, Peristeri, AEK and Olympiacos. In 2005 he returned to Serbia for Red Star and after two years he moved to Italy for Fortitudo Bologna and Turkey for Trabzonspor and  Antalya Büyükşehir Belediyesi. In 2006, Šakota coached the Serbia and Montenegro national basketball team at the 2006 FIBA World Championship. Dragan Šakota will coach his son Dušan Šakota, who is currently the best player of AEK.

Panathinaikos hosted and beat Rethymno Aegean for Basket League fifth day. Rethymno Aegean finished the first quarter leading the score and troubled Panathinaikos until the end. Dimitris Diamantidis had 21 points, 5 assists, 4 steals, 3 rebounds. Esteban Batista finished the game with a double double, 13 points and 12 rebounds, plus five fouls drawn. Korivos Amaliadas signed Guille Rubio. The 32 years old Spanish forward will play for the first time outside Spain where he had a great career in ACB League with Manresa, Unicaja Málaga, Cajasol Banca Cívica, CB Estudiantes, San Sebastián Gipuzkoa Basket Club and CB Valladolid. Rubio was member of the U20 Spain national team and in the previous season he was named MVP of the fourth day of ACB 2013-2014.

PAOK beat Ventspils for Eurocup fourth round. Marc Carter with 11 points led PAOK in the first quarter that finished with score 12-19. In the second quarter Ventspils balanced the game and the first half finished with equal score, 30-30. In the third quarter the home team took the lead by 44-41 but PAOK managed to counter attack and even lead by 8 points, 49-57. In the end a steal by Odum, free throws by Charalampidis and three pointers by Tsochlas and Landford gave PAOK the second away victory. KAOD signed Obie Trotter. The American-Hungarian point guard is 1.85m high, was born on 1984 in USA but holds Hungarian passport and he is member of the National Team of Hungary. He graduated from Alabama A&M but was not drafted so he started his career in Germany with Gießen 46ers. Trotter has also played in France for Étendard de Brest, in Finland for Torpan Pojat, in Hungary for Szolnoki Olaj, in Russia for Nizhny Novgorod and Triumph Lyubertsy. In the previous season he played in Hungary for Szolnoki Olaj.

Aggelos Tsamis and Mike James of Kolossos Rodou named MVPs of the fourth day. In the victory against Panelefsiniakos Angelos Tsamis scored 25 points, collected 12 rebounds and served 6 assists while Mike James added 22 points and 6 rebounds and both got 34 points in the ranking system.

Panionios signed Luke Hancock

Panionios signed Luke Hancock. The 24 years old forward was named Most Oustanding Player of the NCAA Final Four for the season 2012-13 with the Louisville Cardinals, when he also won the NCAA championship.
Hancock joined the Orlando Magic for the Orlando Summer League and the Houston Rockets for the Las Vegas Summer League. A month ago he signed with the Memphis Grizzlies but the team released him only a two weeks later.
Hancock will help Panionios avoid relegation in a very tough season.

Olympiacos released Cedric Simmons

Olympiacos released Cedric Simmons. The 29 years old center could only play in Euroleague with Olympiacos and this season he didn't play at all in three Euroleague games. In the previous season he averaged 3.8 points and 3 rebounds in 22 games in Euroleague and 4.5 points and 3.8 rebounds in the Basket League. Simmons will continue his career in Italy and Euroleague with Dinamo Basket Sassari.

Christos Deligiannis in hospital with pericarditis

Christos Deligiannis is in hospital with pericarditis. The Greek player of Aries Trikala felt ill and went to hospital for medical exams. The results were pericarditis and the athlete will stay in hospital for further exams and recovery.
We wish him a fast recovery and hope to see him back soon and healthy in the basketball courts.

Jimmy Koustenis is Panelefsiniakos new coach

Jimmy Koustenis is Panelefsiniakos new coach. The American Greek coach started his career as the assistant coach of Argyris Pedoulakis in Peristeri and Panellinios and of Nenad Markovic and Minas Gekos in Panionios. In 2012 he was the head coach of Peristeri and in 2013 the head coach of Ilisiakos. Koustenis started this season with Ethnikos Piraeus in the A2 division but will now coach Panelefsiniakos and will try to avoid relegation.

Olympiacos beat AEK in OAKA for Basket League fourth day.  In the debut of Sfairopoulos with Olympiacos AEK managed to trouble the reds in the first quarters with a 9-4 lead and 15-14 first quarter score. In the second quarter Olympiacos took the lead with Vasilis Spanoulis having 14 points in the first half. The home team counter attacked again in the third quarter but could not follow in the last and Olympiacos won by 19 points. Great game by Vasilis Spanoulis with 14 points and 5 assists and Othello Hunter had 6 points and 7 rebounds. In the second quarter Panathinaikos created a difference of 15 points, 23-38, but Trikala made a 13-0 run, 36-38 and managed to finish the quarter only six points behind, 42-48. It was the first game of the Basket League Greece that a father and a son, Soulis and Charis Markopoulos, played against each other as head coaches of the two opponents. The faher had previously won the son in a friendly game for the Patras Cup and he repeated the same for the Basket League. Aris was leading the score in the whole game but KAOD counter attacked in the end and 14 seconds before the end Spyridonidis equalized the score, 72-72. Moourtos missed two free throws but Aleksandar Vezenkov was there to collect the rebound and score two free throws which gave his team the victory. Another great game for KAOD's captain Thodoris Zaras with 26 points and 5 assists. Olympiacos signed Giannis Sfairopoulos as head coach

Olympiacos signed Giannis Sfairopoulos as head coach. The 47 years old Greek coach will lead the team that Giorgos Bartzokas won two Euroleague cups before resigning a month ago. Sfairopoulos signed a two years contract. The Greek coach had worded for PAOK as assistant and head coach, for the Greek national team, Olympiacos and CSKA Moscow as assistant coach and for Kolossos Rodou and Panionios as head coach. With Panionios he was voted as the fourth best coach of the Basket League 2013-2014 and the Basket League 2012-2013.

Olympiacos beat Neptūnas for Euroleague third day. Olympiacos needed an extra time to beat Neptūnas but even like this made its third victory in three games. The home team had 0/10 three pointers in the first half and was behind in score but in the second half they made a 7-0 run and balanced the game. In the end of the normal time Shakur missed a chance to win the game by missing a free throw and in extra time Olympiacos won the game. Vasilis Spanoulis had a great game with 34 points, 7 assists and 5 rebounds. Kostas Sloukas helped his team with crucial shots and 13 points. Simas Galdigas finished the game with a double double, 13 points and 11 rebounds.
